I've been seeing a lot of discussion around microlabels, how they are unessasary, make no sense, and how the broader, umbrella labels are just better.

I thought I'd give my two cents as someone who is still figuring myself out. I. LIKE. Microlabels!

There is nothing wrong with the broader umbrella terms. I am not saying i think they are unessasary. However, my brain can be rather confusing. Without hyper specific definitions or examples, I have a hard time figuring out if I belong. Like with Nonbinary! The people are so vast and unique, which is amazing! But me personally, I'm always worried that I don't count. Even if by technicality, I fall under the umbrella.

That's why I like microlabels. Those tiny differences you all find unessasary, help me feel seen, understood, and tells me that im not alone, I'm not crazy, and that there is a NAME for what I feel. Microlabels help put into words what the more broader terms cannot fully articulate. I do plan to use them, but microlabels help me make sure the one I am using, is the right one.
