Why does everyone love Jonathan on Queer Eye?

Because I love being taught to love myself. Being taught skin care regiment by a beautiful gay man who looks like Jesus. He’s powerful. He’s positive. He’s giving you a home made DIY lip scrub made from honey, coconut oil, sugar, and essentials oils that you can make with your mother and kids. He’s teaching you how to use green tinted concealer for the redness in your skin so you can get your ex wife back and take her to a car show. Jonathan is love, and powerful vibes in your bathroom when you’re not feeling your best. Self care starts somewhere. And he’s giving you the first step. Go gay Jesus.

The moral of the story is that if you see JVN on your dash: reblog him and be blessed with clear skin, smooth hair, and a walk that destroys empires.

This App Lets You Bail Out Black Prison Inmates with Your Spare Change

The function of the app is simple: In less than 60 seconds, connect the account you use to make everyday purchases. Here, your purchases will be rounded up to the nearest dollar to automatically donate each time you reach at least $2 in spare change. Users can pause and resume their contributions at any time. On the topic of his goals with the project, Ziegler explains:

“Our short term goals are to get as many folks home for the holidays as possible so we hope many folks join the platform for Giving Tuesday and contribute their holiday spending change to those in need.

Long term, we see the platform being used in a variety of ways to bolster the voices of those in need beyond just a financial contribution.”

The article beats around the bush in regards to naming the dang app, though, which is annoying because that makes it tough to take action. SO.

I want to briefly add a couple things to address some points I saw brought up in the Twitter thread and again in the notes. If the only thing holding you in jail is bail money, that means the court has decided you are safe to be on the street. That means you haven’t been convicted of anything yet and are still innocent in the eyes of the law. If you look up “school to prison pipeline” you can see how the entire criminal justice system is stacked against poor POC. This app does not help put dangerous criminals back on the street, it helps reunite black people with their families when there is a good chance they were wrongfully arrested in the first place and/or arrested for something that would have been overlooked if they were white.
