there's nothing quite like a random piece of media you consumed ages ago and loved at the time but kinda forgot about after coming back to you years later absolutely out of nowhere like "you thought you could forget about me? don't worry! i'm here to be the only thing you care about yet again" and then the cycle repeats

the relationship between her and sei is so so so important to me.
it's about how, in a nation that worships the very ground she walks on, the only person that really sees yua as a person and cares about what she wants is sei. he's the only one that's thinking about how to send her back home, he's the one that's angry on her behalf, that they brought her here without her consent.
and more than that - it's about how sei is being such a hypocrite about it all.
the first time sei meets yua again after they're brought to this world, he warns her to not let them take advantage of her, to really think about what they're asking her to do, and what she's getting in return for it.
and then, sei turns around and does the exact same thing he told yua not to do.
he overworked himself to the point of nearly dying from the overdose on the energy tonics, and then he still went to work the next day, because he took one look at the kingdom's finances and came to the conclusion that if things continued as they were, the kingdom would fall to ruin. and his extreme sense of responsibility wouldn't allow him to leave that be.
functionally, the only difference between his situation and yua's is that nobody is asking or expecting him to save them.
yua and sei are such wonderful narrative foils for each other, and even though sei loves to act like he's all logic and efficiency and order, the amount of care he shows towards yua's situation belies how much of a softy he is at heart.
there's a hint of that early on in the series, where he mentions in his internal monologue that it's his duty as yua's elder (and her only advocate from her own world) to lend a guiding hand to her, even if he has to tell her things she doesn't want to hear. and in episode 6 we can see just how seriously he's taking that responsibility.
i've mentioned before how this whole series is a commentary on japan's toxic work culture, but on the flip side it also shows the beauty of the sense of community that makes the bedrock of collectivist cultures like japan

I’m Inge Kassab 22, dental student in Alazhar university Gaza, I have finished three years of my studies at the university and unfortunately my university has completely destroyed due to the war in Gaza and I can’t go abroad the city to continue my studies because all boarders around us were closed and I forced to live her under bombing.
For almost a whole year and half I have been living in Gaza, where wardestruction and chaos spread everywhere in Gaza.
I am currently in Deir El Balah after I have displaced from my city Gaza , trying to save money to rebuild home to live in a safe place with my family. My father is an old man who lost his work and my mom also lost her work. I need you to support me and my family to build our life again.
Because of the war, it has become impossible to provide money to live, buy food, clean and drinkable water, and education here. This money will be used to provide what the war has destroyed for us, and also to provide a place to stay, especially since we are now approaching the winter season, where we need winter clothes, repair the damage to the house, and provide what protects us from the cold and hunger of winter.
Gaza has become a place full of destruction and is no longer suitable for any opportunity here. Diseases have spread in the Gaza Strip, especially those skin diseases for which there is no treatment due to the war. The water here has also become polluted water and has spread, and there is not enough food for everyone here.
I created this campaign to ask for help and support from you. As a human being who lived an entire year and half under the flames of war, destruction, and tragedies, I am addressing you and asking you for help, to help me get a chance to survive war, death, and hunger with my family, and to start from scratch. A new journey of living and recovering from those traumas and painful memories that we experienced in the war. So we stayed in the Gaza Strip under the genocide to live in difficult conditions and complete our studies with the least available means. Before the war began, I was at the beginning of the clinical stage and the beginning of my work on patients, but the war came and destroyed all my dreams, as I lost my university and my dental tools, which cost my father more than $1,000, and I lost my future. But now I am trying to return again in order to complete the number of study hours and graduate. Therefore, I need your help to complete what remains, as there is only very little left to graduate and go out to work and help patients.
This money will also help me to cover our living expenses and buy food in Gaza. Buying food and groceries in Gaza is something we cannot afford every day because of the high prices, and there is no opportunity to work here. The money will also be used to buy available cooking gas, wood and firewood which will also be used to provide fires for cooking and also to keep warm from the cold at night in the coming days. Also I want to build my own clinic after graduation.

Oh for fuck’s sake, people calling out racist writing in fanfic isn’t “censorship”. I say this as a fic writer but some of you need to get off your high fucking horse.
Truly some of the most irritating culture has sprung up around fanwork and fanfic in specific like… no, making something for free does not in fact make it sacrosanct or immune to criticism! Your right to “do whatever you want forever” or say “fandom is for fun” stops the second you’re being bigoted and making fan spaces unsafe for marginalized people!
"fandom is for fun" except for poc who have to deal with rampant racism and white people unable to acknowledge let alone take accountability for their racism
ao3 is also not going to take your work down so you’re hardly being silenced. racism makes fandom unsafe for POC. you either accept that you have some learning and growing to do, or you block all of us and keep it pushing.
i have seen multiple people do the latter and still be accepted into fandom spaces. contrary to popular belief, POC do not have some sort of ultimate power that makes it impossible for white people to do anything. with a little effort, you too can be racist and then log off for a couple months until it blows over, and then pretend like nothing happened. i’ve seen it. i think we all have.
when you say fandom is a safe space, who is it a safe space FOR?
someone asking you to be less racist is not you being attacked by “antis” for “no reason”. “it’s just fiction” doesn’t apply to bigotry. i think you all know that, but you also know it’s way easier to just pretend otherwise.

The war has transformed Gaza into a graveyard of broken dreams. The buildings that once stood as symbols of life and resilience are now piles of rubble. Every corner is filled with the echoes of explosions. Every moment is shrouded in uncertainty. There is no security. There is no stability. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Basic needs have become luxuries.
Food is scarce. Clean water is even scarcer. Hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced, and there is almost no medical care to be found. Every night, families go to bed hungry, praying they’ll wake up to see another day. The cost of basic necessities has skyrocketed, and it’s become a daily battle just to survive.
I’ve seen things I never thought possible—standing in long lines for a piece of bread, rationing every drop of water, and watching my people suffer in silence. I have lost everything—my home, my safety, my dignity.
Escape from Gaza is my only hope,
but it’s almost impossible without financial help. The cost of evacuation is far beyond my means, and without support, I’m trapped in a warzone with no way out.
