I've just replayed the mary missions with my adult brain that's experienced a relationship and I simply do not see Mary and Arthur as a couple. like I can see Sean and Karen, and Abigail and John. They're everywhere. I can even see Kieran and Marybeth. but Mary and Arthur have nothing in common. it seems like everything one says the other dismisses it. their humour doesn't even mesh. I think Mary is written more of a plot point than she is a character which is unfortunate because you're supposed to feel Arthur's love for her, but all of the interactions just feel so contrived
if I had a horse I'd name him Hosea
for some reason with this bloom rewrite I've started about 3 different chapters concurrently and only write a few paragraphs before my mind goes blank. this is an interesting breed of writers block
two different teams at rockstar wrote the Charles bison poaching mission and the legendary animal map with the white bison you have to kill
I fully admit to making Dutch cartoonishly evil in bloom like he is for real not doing all that
I actually really hate the pet theory that Dutch killed Eliza and Isaac to keep Arthur in the gang, like he is notttt insane or cruel enough for that. did he kill Bessie when she and Hosea left? or Abigail at any point? surely he could have foreseen that she would want to leave with John, why not throw her out when she got pregnant and save them all the trouble? that way he could keep the gunman who didn't even want fatherhood and get rid of two mouths to feed. except he would never do that. 20+ people including single women and orphaned kids and people of colour didn't decide to follow Dutch for no reason you know. he is compassionate in his own way. and besides he's more of an emotional manipulator than a scheming murderer
