Picked up a bunch of old television and radio magazines from the 1950's at an auction the other week. I've always been really interested in midcentury modern culture, in general. Just looking at some of these articles and advertisements makes me realize how different everything is today. I sometimes wish life was a lot more simple, as it was in the 1950's. It seems like the magazines were more concerned with consumer interests unlike the magazines of today, which focus more on brainwashing advertisements every other page. The more technology advances, the more magazines become very lackluster and sterile. They all seem to blend together. Midcentury magazines fascinate me because they seem so energetic and eager to inspire. No wonder mad men has such a following!
