I wish all Indigenous people a safe and peaceful National Day of Mourning.
Society if Martha Wells wasn't a coward and wrote The Murderbot Diaries in 3rd person POV.
[ID: The meme of a futuristic utopian city, overlaid with the it/its pronoun flag, with stripes of yellow, green, light grey, grey, light grey, green, and blue. End ID.]
there's a much larger version of this post I'm making the image description for right now lol. Transphobia at its absolute most basic, yet still plainly observable as long as you're paying attention.
It is not a black characters job. To sideline their own character development and established interests, so as to focus completely on their white counterparts. If you, as an audience member, are only interested for as much as they impact the fave, you know what you are.
I feel like a lot of marginalized people, especially younger ones, have this idea that thereās a limit to the number of things they can ID with. And I think it comes from those anti-sjw posts mocking things for being ātoo diverse.ā Like, if youāre trans and bisexual and disabled, you canāt be autistic too, youāre already over your quota. Or if youāre brown and asexual and have bpd, you canāt be nonbinary as well because that would be too much.
So this is me telling me that there is your identity has no limits. Do not bury pieces of yourself because youāre afraid of what other people will think. Do not break yourself in order to fit into a too small mold. You do not have to hide or shrink or alter yourself to satisfy a status quo of who is and isnātĀ ānormal enough.ā You are you
Black trans woman in a financial crisis, on the verge of being houseless - please help??
Things just keep getting worse and I donāt know what to do. Iām working two jobs, eating almost nothing on a daily basis, scraping up all my savings, and I still donāt know how Iām going to keep making rent bc Iām so fucking broke. I donāt have any family nearby who support me and all my friends are in the exact same boat as me. I need help, badly. Here is a link to my Cash App, and if you could spare anything at all, it would be so greatly appreciated. If you want to help but canāt afford to, please reblog!!

Why does the Black middle class hate working class Black people and/or Black queer and trans* people SO much?
They get so much from us yet itās so exploitative, performative, and generally abusive behavior from the lot of them. Yet, I have to pretend like everything is okay when itās not. Itās so upsetting. What can be done besides understand things from their point of view? I just donāt know anymore. Thereās way more to their story, and Iām going to firgure it all out. Love and curiosity will keep me going more than anything.

Oh yea itās all coming together
genuinely thinking of adding a disclaimer to all my posts that contain the word āqueerā to stop tagging it āq slurā bc inevitably when it gets to āq slurā tumblr ppl start reblogging with the most rancid commentary. get ur unsalted cishet-pandering asses out of my sight and let me converse with the other freaks and faggots in peace.
i love you autistic people who bite, who scream, who scratch themselves, who pick at skin, who hit themselves, who destroy things, who struggle with motor control, who get easily overwhelmed, who don't know how to handle strong emotions and everyone else with a developmental disability that do these things too
Every person need to be taught disability history
Not the āoh Einstein was probably autisticā or the sanitized Helen Keller story. but this history disabled people have made and has been made for us.
Teach them about Carrie Buck, who was sterilized against her will, sued in 1927, and lost because āThree generations of imbeciles [were] enough.ā (A decision which still has not been reversed)
Teach them about Judith Heumann and her associates, who in 1977, held the longest sit in a government building for the enactment of 504 protection passed three years earlier.
Teach them about all the Baby Does, newborns in 1980s who were born disabled and who doctors and parents left to die without treatment, whoās deaths lead to the passing of The Baby Doe amendment to the child abuse law in 1984.
Teach them about the deaf students at Gallaudet University, a liberal arts school for the deaf, who in 1988, protested the appointment of yet another hearing president and successfully elected I. King Jordan as their first deaf president.
Teach them about Jim Sinclair, who at the 1993 international Autism Conference stood and said ādonāt mourn for us. We are alive. We are real. And weāre here waiting for you.ā
Teach about the disability activists who laid down in front of buses for accessible transit in 1978, crawled up the steps of congress in 1990 for the ADA, and fight against police brutality, poverty, restricted access to medical care, and abuse today.
Teach about us.
Biggest indicator of US decline: You could buy 6 BigMacs with 1 hour of minimum wage in 1980, but today you can't even buy one, despite minimum wage more than doubling.
It's over.
how many people could be working on actual problems in the world instead of being forced to do jobs that they are over-qualified for just because they dont want to go homeless and starve?
climate change is threatening to kill us and people with biology degrees are working at starbucks if they didnāt get lucky in the nepotism department.
capitalism is possibly the least efficient way to allocate work.Ā
You love artāhave spent your entire childhood developing a style people love and appreciate? you could possibly work to improve the lives of millions with your beautiful creations?
sorry you need to work 12 hours a day at a walmart that doesnāt need you while some billionaire who took a painting class once sells some ugly bullshit for 3.5 million.
Millions of people want to be doctors but canāt afford medical school, it is a well known fact we donāt have enough doctors for the demand. hmm wow real efficient capitalism.
āI am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einsteinās brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.ā - Stephen Jay Gould
Capitalism and wealth are bankrupt concepts.
