Baz is quiet and reserved. While generally polite, he can come off as arrogant towards those he deems foolish. A bookish academic, he tends towards melancholy, often isolating himself in his home. He remedies this with quiet meditation in the forests of Azeroth, allowing the natural world to soothe his mind and heart. Despite his tight control of his outward emotions, he is a romantic at heart. But he'd rather die than admit it.
Although he has no trouble correcting people or taking charge amongst peers, he prefers not to be forced into the role of leader. He is still quite young and values the expertise of those more learned than him… if he deems them a worthy source of information.
Appearance
The first thing people notice about Baz is either his stunning lavender grey eyes or the silky, raven black hair that often covers them. His hair usually hangs loose around his face past his chin, with some shorter pieces serving as sideswept bangs and often blocking his vision. He occasionally wears it up in a bun, but mostly reserves this hairstyle when out in the wilds. He may also on occasion be seen wearing wire rimmed reading glasses.
Baz is slightly shorter than the average Ren'Dorei, which already isn't one of the tallest of races. He's likely looking up at you, though his slender, athletic build gives the illusion that he's taller than he really is. He also tends to look a little pale and run cold.
If there is a strong source of void or fel magic nearby, you may notice the inky indigo glimmer of void magic flittering across his eyes, or even over his pale skin if he's feeling particularly uncomfortable or struggling for control.
Aside from this, Baz can still easily pass for a Sin'Dorei if you excuse the odd eye color. You may not know which he is at first.
History
Baz grew up in a little cottage in the Ghost Lands with his grandmother. His parents, first exiled then presumed dead, had devoted themselves to the study of the void and its magick. Their obsession with arcane knowledge led them on an ill-fated journey when Baz was young. Left in the care of his maternal grandmother, a loyalist to the Sunwell, he was raised in a loving yet cautious home. She was careful to keep his void elf heritage a secret lest they be exiled from their homeland.
Baz enjoyed their quiet life away from the hustle and bustle of Silvermoon. Despite the humble location, his grandmother was a lady of some wealth and status, ensuring that they lived comfortably. When he wasn't out in the garden with his grandmother, he was most likely holed up in his room with a book and cup of tea, or perhaps pensively playing his violin.
As he grew older, he began to supplement their food stores with creatures he had hunted and sell their leather to create an income of his own. (Which he used to purchase books that his grandmother would likely not approve of.) On one such excursion, he bonded with a wild snow leopard cub deep in the jungles of Sholazar. Since then the two have been inseparable hunting partners.
Despite his fondness for the bow, Baz attended school in Silvermoon, as was expected of someone of his status. Baz was not a naturally gifted mage, but his intelligence and hard work kept his grades high. His roommate, on the other hand, was naturally powerful, but not a good student… which often led to disastrous accidents.
Baz kept to himself, always conscious of the family secret he harbored. Of course, there was one person he could not avoid: his roommate. Over the course of their schooling, Baz developed an ill-fated crush on his fellow mage-in-training. His roommate unfortunately did not think kindly of Baz. Whether he had heard rumours of Baz’s parentage or simply come to some speculation of his own, he treated Baz with contempt and suspicion. As such, Baz hid his love fiercely… perhaps too fiercely. He channeled his intense feelings into the rivalry that had naturally developed between the two of them over their prowess in class.
During their senior year, the students were required to demonstrate their knowledge as part of their final exams. Baz and his roommate’s rivalry had become quite heated at this point. Baz put all his years of hard work to use by creating a simulacrum of a dragon made entirely of starlight, impressing his teachers and fellow students. His roommate, refusing to “lose”, attempted an extremely risky experimental spell to take the form of a Dracthyr that, as many times before, ended in disaster. His roommate was left changed…
Blaming Baz for the disfigurement, his roommate threatened to reveal Baz’s secret unless the young elf willingly left. With no fight left within him after such treatment from his secret love and no passion for the Sin’dorei magics, Baz agreed and dropped out. He returned home to his grandmother’s cottage and his beloved cat, taking up the mantle of hunter once more.
Despite his comfortable life, Baz yearned to know more of the world, and more of the void that had taken his parents. The freshly formed alliance between the Void Elves and the Alliance gave him just that opportunity. He moved to a quaint neighborhood in the Alliance territory that reminded him of the little cottage he had grown up in. Here he would no longer have to hide who he was.
That tranquility did not last long as before he knew it, Azeroth had been thrust into another war and his people’s capitol was at the heart of the warzone. The choice to return to Silvermoon had been both an easy one and a difficult one. Easy in that he knew he would always rise to protect his people, but difficult in the stares and whispers that followed him through the city streets. His temporary taste of tranquility in the Alliance’s territory was but a fever dream, replaced by the harsh reality that his grandmother had tried so hard to protect him from.
He continues to do what he can to protect the woods of Eversong while endlessly yearning for some place to truly belong.

The night may not have ended with a bang, but it certainly didn't end with a whimper either. When Elisant had suggested instead that they cuddle all night like they used to, Aleesiel had nearly wept with joy. It was somehow even better than the prospect of sex. Regardless of how mind-blowing that night had been.
Sex was... well, sex. Aleesiel had long ago learned to sever its connection to his emotions. You had to to be able to survive in his line of work. Of course, that disassociation didn't always seem to work in his favor when it came to relationships... Whether not being emotionally present enough in the better ones or allowing things he really shouldn't, that should have made him walk away, in the worse ones.
But to hold Elisant safe in his arms once again, and this time knowing it was him... a wave of nostalgia swept over him and nearly brought him to his knees. It was almost more than he could bear. It was somehow more intimate and meaningful than anything else the man could offer. He found himself sleeping more peacefully than he had since... well, since he'd lost Eli in the first place.
As morning came, he found himself drifting in and out of consciousness, not quite ready to be awake. Those little snippets of cognizance making him aware of Elisant's scent... of the feathery soft hair tickling his cheek... of the warm, weighted blanket the dracthyr created... of the placement of each of his limbs. Aleesiel found himself drifting off in utter bliss, his arms wrapped loosely around the smaller man, if only because he had not the strength in sleep to tighten them.
But his peace was interrupted as Elisant cursed and slipped away. With a long groan of his own, Aleesiel cracked his eyes open and shuffled onto his elbows to get a better look at the situation. The bedsheet slipped down to reveal his naked torso, though he was still wearing underwear beneath. With a soft sigh, already expecting misfortune, he looked up at Elisant. "Are you alright?"
Baz scooted up after their kiss, smiling as Loranir's arm wrapped around him. He touched the elf's chin gingerly before leaning in for a delicate kiss of his own, smirking a little as he pulled back. "From what I can tell, you were doing alright before me... albeit with some terrible vices..." He pauses and tapped his lips with a finger as he thought further. "And worse anger issues..."
At Loranir's mention of the hole he put in the wall of Baz's freshly refurbished room...
"Ahh yes, that...." Baz gave Lor a look that would no doubt make the paladin squirm. "I have been considering some ways in which you might make that up to me," he said far too chipperly as he gave Loranir a little pat. "A discussion for later though," he smiles enigmatically.
His expression grew more serious as Lor continued, his heart arching for the pain which Alindan had wrought. A deep indigo flame of anger lit within him as last night flooded his memory. The noble was a coward in Baz's eyes. Too afraid to stand up for his best friend lest his precious House be tainted by association. Baz took a page out of Asteria's book on such matters: hold strong to your ideals and force the world to conform to you.
He also found himself questioning this fiancé of Alindan's. He couldn't imagine Lor putting him in such a position as to unjustly betray a friend, let alone a best friend, over politics and appearances. He would never be with a man so shallow. Even regarding Bray's somewhat justified feelings regarding Loranir's past actions, Baz and Loranir's relationship had already weathered that test as well. Whether with Aria or Vex or any of Baz's more questionable friendships, Loranir had kept his responses measured and trusted Baz's judgement. Trust was a precious thing, and Baz would never take it for granted.
"I can only imagine..." Baz murmured sadly. "He was there for you when you had nothing. He guided you, mentored you... a best friend, a brother. You have every right to grieve this."
Baz placed his hand upon Loranir's heart as he turned in the elf's arms to more fully face him. Lavender eyes searched golden, for what he wasn't sure. Perhaps some confirmation that Loranir's resilience would see him through. "I am just glad that I was there so that we need not know." He sighed, then huffed out an air of agitation. "I suppose it goes without saying that they can forget any sort of alliance or help from my House until they come groveling to you with an apology."
As usual, Loranir was too kind. Or perhaps he just didn't think highly enough of himself still. He made utterances of what if the roles were reversed and not expecting people to prioritize himself.
Baz sighed, letting some of that fire dwindle though the embers remained hot. "The difference is I would not ask it of you. Not unless someone was actually hurting you. You've done nothing to wrong them personally, my love." He stroked his hand over Loranir's heart, letting the moment rest before he continued.
"I'm sorry.... I do not mean to dwell on it. Just know that I respect your choices... just as you have respected mine. Even when you've found my friends questionable. And I know that as long as they are not hurting either of us, we will both continue not to overstep our bounds. Even now, I leave the door open for Alindan's return..." his voice lowers to mutter a "when he gets his head out of his ass."
Since tumblr is being dumb and marking the original music video as mature, reposting this as the lyric video.
This is an accurate representation of Baz's feelings toward Loranir after Lor's best friend effectively ended their friendship over Blood Elf Noble politics and his fiance's concerns.
"Have I ever mentioned my belief in just Fate and Luck? No deity guides our path but mere chance. The randomness of this universe will always start taking a pattern.
And that's how I met him. By mere chance. In the most random of places. But the pattern started forming when our paths kept coinciding, over and over again.
His name is Aleesiel.
And there is this thing, a feeling one would say, that has been growing in me. The words to express such feeling, I'm still reserving them. This is new, we are new, I don't want to fuck up things just like I did with my life."
With a sigh, he closes his journal, putting his quill down, a big smile is splattered on this face.
