So the few people that actually pay attention to this blog might notice I’ve been putting out very little content for the past...year. Don’t worry, I’m disappointed in me, too. But the combination of low motivation and general lethargy has been absolutely killing me. I’m not going to be deleting any of my blogs, but I think that people should know what’s going on.

While I don't plan on jumping on the Uma bandwagon any time soon, I am aware that my dash has been gripped with the trend of having their muses become trainers. So here's my little headcanon on what Aura'd be like as one.

Assuming this is THE Aura Arondight and not some weird Uma-verse Aura without magic, our resident sword themed sorcerer would likely be a divisive choice for two main reasons, first of them being him being largely immune to uma tomfoolery. This means that any uma like Gold Ship, Agnes Tachyon, and Still in Love would be absolutely miserable with Aura as their trainer with perfectly dodged victory drop kicks, complete avoidance of becoming an unwilling test subject, and being given the runaround when there's an "episode".

That last point leads into the second reason, being that Aura would train with the umas. Yes, with them. As in doing the same exercises and keeping up. Depending on the uma, they will either be driven to improve themselves more, be freaked out that a human is capable of the same feats, or may form some sort of complex.

Now, this seems like Aura'd be a terrible choice with no redeeming qualities, but there actually is one. Whether by accident or not, umas that train with Aura unconsciously learn his chi based sorcery, particularly physical enhancements, and see bigger returns on their training as a result.

"I hope you'll be less hands on with the wildlife than he was."

"Kaban! Sorry, meant to check in on you way sooner, but time really got away from me. Did you remember my assignment to you?" - Aura

“Oh Aura-San it’s been a little bit. Ah. An assignment? The last thing I remember us talking about was combat and self defense, but I can’t remember if you gave me any homework. I’m sorry… I’ve been busy with guide work… I’ll have to introduce you to Caracal-San sometime… but I have some time now. What’s the assignment?” Kaban replies with an embarrassed smile. She was however excited to hear what kind of adventure Aura would send her on.

"Really, Kaban? I know it was some few months ago, but I would think it'd stick out with how odd part of it was. I told you to study under hunters and incorporate their styles into your own as well as study mechanical physics. Can't really teach you the next part if you haven't got the confidence to wield that toy sword I gave you...You...do still have that, right?"

"Besides, there's a shut-in witch back where I'm from that doesn't see the difference. She has an entire section of her library dedicated to the sciences with texts as modern as the 80's. And she has about a thousand years of magical expertise more than I do."

The results of multiple tests are strewn over the table, a mix of the medical and biological sciences as well as esoteric spiritual and arcane methods and their results. And they're all pointing to one fact...

"So we really have been aging more slowly."

"Makes sense, really. Our 'wuxia lite' lifestyle would naturally have us cultivating our chi to some extent. It'd be unusual to not see some of the same effects."

"But what do we do now? And later when our time is supposed to be up? I doubt the yama wants more earthbound hermits running around."

"Do what we do best, Holly."

"Give me a break, it's not every day I have to come up with a solid plan decades in advance. So many things can change in that time."

This morning I got a letter that a vampire named Remilia wanted to donate a new park exhibit and I thought that was a pretty well thought out prank… oh and I’m not human today.” Kaban pointed to her fake cat ears before picking up Aura carefully in both hands.

“I don’t understand how are you projecting your voice from the sword… it looks like a normal sword to me…”

Looks like every in the park was actually pretty normal… sadly…
