Palestinian students sit next to the empty seats of their martyred classmates.
— Ursula K. Le Guin, from “A Rant About ‘Technology’”
dream job is to be that one rotted hand that bursts out of the grave to snatch some stupid idiot by the ankles and pull them under the earth
U.S. conservatives always talk about creating jobs but get SO MAD whenever anyone mentions banning prison labor like imagine the insane ammout of jobs that would be created literally overnight if companies in your country had to actually employ people instead of using slave labor from people that got caught with weed 10 years ago.
Daily reminder that the US, who love to scaremonger about "communist labour camps," have legal slave labour if you're in prison
Amy and Laurie + Excerpts from Greta Gerwig’s Little Women script
“A Palestinian girl stands holding stones in her hands waiting in Ramallah in the West Bank for Israeli soldiers to arrive to the place where a young Palestinian was shot dead the same day. 20 February 1988.”
Photographed by Eric Feferberg.
it broke today that biden airdropped aid to gaza. other than the fact that this is an obvious pr move ahead of his re-election campaign, i think it's important to stress how ineffective this method is compared to just allowing humanitarian aid to come through. airdrops carry far less aid than truck convoys, for one, and require an airdrop zone with a lot of idealistic conditions that don't often coincide. this is a major reason why you hear a lot of airdrops being conducted at beaches--and why a lot of them have been blown to the sea. and what's even more dangerous about that is that a lot of these palestinians are malnourished, starving, in a delirious state of mind. many of them are so utterly hungry that they'd be willing to swim through just to get their hands on a sodden meal. but apparently this is the best thing the us, which literally funds israel's ongoing genocide, can do for palestinians at the moment.
i think the biggest reason i find this so insidious is because it implies the us has to play by israel's rules, even though it's basically already confirmed that there are us soldiers in palestine. the us is telling us that the best thing it can do is airdrop aid, rather than strongarm israel into allowing ground-delievred aid to come through. the us is acting like it has red tape it has to contend with.
but the us is the red tape. the us literally holds the power. it knows what it's doing. it's actually jarring watching the united states government try to infantilize itself.
"B-but Palestinians can get their freedom with peace not violence 🥺🥺" no. Screw your feelings. The armed resistance against colonizers and murderers is what will give Palestinians their freedom and what will eventually achieve real peace.
An enemy that bombs and uses white phosphorus against civilians doesn't know nor practice what your broken moral compass describes as "peace". Freedom was proven throughout history not to be achieved through kneeling and asking the oppressor to kindly stop. Freedom needs to be taken by force. Your little Utopian way of thinking doesn't work in the real world. Your feelings don't matter because you're not the one living under occupation. Your feelings don't matter because you're not one of the thousands of children who lost their limbs. You're not one of the children who became orphans due to this genocide. You're not the mother who lost her child to the carpet bombing. You're not the father carrying the remains of your child in plastic bags. You're not the newlywed woman who lost her husband. You're not the one at risk of either getting killed any second or losing your loved ones in the blink of an eye!
"Peace" is not really a thing you see during a live ethnic cleansing!
PEACE is a WHITE MAN's WORD. LIBERATION is OURS.
Reblogging this as a fuck you to the previous person who opposed the resistance.
Peace will never liberate oppression. It just won't, and if you think it will, you're too ignorant of history to be involved in this conversation.
Not once has "please stop oppressing us" made an oppressor go "aw, shit, my bad, sorry bro". Oppressors want power. They don't want equality. If someone is willing to murder in order to prevent you from having equality, they won't care if you ask from that equality "peacefully". They'll take it as an opportunity to murder you and make an example of you to make everyone else fear the same fate, thus allowing the oppressor to keep their power.
Equal rights are taken, not given. Peace was never an option, and that was decided the day Israel first began displacing, oppressing, and terrorizing Palestine when they took over and colonized the country for their own Zionist views.

i actually dont give a shit if hamas did everything and worse that israel accuses them of it still doesn't justify killing 30000 random civilians
this is literally the least radical position you could have btw it's literally just normal fucking morals. every day i live in disbelief that people are saying "it's complicated". there's nothing complicated about saying "killing 30000 civilians including children, journalists, doctors, and human rights officials is bad"
One of the things that pisses me off most about this genocide and overall occupation is how many people say it's so complicated and there's so much nuance and there isn't one easy solution. This is one of the simplest things I have ever seen. Zionists invaded palestine in 1947-48. They have occupied it for 76 years while taking more and more land. They kidnap and torture and massacre Palestinians day in day out for those 76 years. They control every aspect of Palestinian life, including their water and medical care. And now they are committing another genocide against them. Where is the complication? What is hard to understand? "Well, Jewish people need a place where they won't be discriminated against" I absolutely agree. So make every country in the world safe for Jewish people. Fight against anti Semitism across the world. Don't commit a genocide and set up an ethnostate.
Caitlyn Siehl, What We Buried; from "A Letter To Love"
"if i was orpheus i would simply not turn around" yes you would. if you were orpheus and you loved eurydice, you would. to love someone is to turn around. to love someone is to look at them. whichever version of the myth — he hears her stumble, he can't hear her at all, he thinks he's been tricked — he turns around because he loves her. that's why it's a tragedy. because he loves her enough to save her. because he loves her so much he can't save her. because he will always, always turn around. "if i was orpheus i would simply —" you wouldn't be orpheus. you wouldn't be brave enough to walk into the underworld and save the person you love. be serious
this post actually broke my heart.

While I am happy that the Hague's ruling is leaning towards a condemnation of Israel, we can't relent in our efforts.
Not only because this is merely a preliminary ruling, but because the ICJ does not have executive power over the Israeli occupation. The IDF is free to violate their ruling at any time, at the cost of being deemed international criminals, which has never stopped them before.
Moreover, even if the Israeli government complied, the legal outcome alone is a return to the status quo. Gaza was under siege long before 2023, and the apartheid still stands.
I am not trying to discourage you: this is an unprecedented amount of support behind Pro-Palestinian advocacy, and we now have to decide if we'll use this opportunity to work towards the end of Israeli occupation of Palestine, or walk away from the issue now that the genocide is reeled back in.
So if you're tired, if you're drained, please, let this small victory embolden you and let's double our efforts.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
People who hate Amy x Laurie and wish Laurie got together with Jo will never understand it’s about the girl falling first and the boy falling harder it’s about loving someone from afar, sketching him when he doesn’t even realize you’re watching and keeping the sketch for years to give to him when he needs to be reminded of the boy he used to be and the man he could become it’s about love that helps you grow and change and improve instead of staying stagnant it’s about slowly growing feelings for someone without knowing it, because she lingers in your mind until she becomes your muse and you’ve written an opera for her it’s about the relief you feel while peacefully and naturally falling in love because the first time it happened it was too passionate and fast and filled you with grief from start to end and it’s about realizing love is golden after years of believing it was red it’s about pulling a boat together so well you wish you might always pull in the same boat it’s about tender confessions it’s about not having to make a scene it’s about not having to say anything because your actions are enough it’s about comfortable silence and enjoying each other’s company it’s about your second love teaching you that your first love wasn’t really the kind of love you thought it was it’s about real love
