20 minutes to bedtime, showered, teeth brushed, retainer is in and go figure I’m now hungry…

Been raining for weeks now on and off and today I finished off our house bug perimeter spray, need to get a new one to cover the back half after work. At least I got the weepholes covered for now. Then used more of our ant killer spread on the just insulting fifteen tiny to medium mounds across the front yard after I killed the last three big ones a couple weeks back. It’s my yard damnit…stupid ants and these annoying tiny ones I found eight of inside the past couple days that set me off on a perimeter check in the first place.

So tonight is my Monday at work and tomorrow I will sleep well after I continue my barrage against these bugs. But so far no ants inside the house this year! So that’s a plus and I’m staying positive about this, was just eight non-biting tiny bugs and hopefully spraying the weepholes and window frames cut off their entrance points and they can no longer get in.

Have all the fabric cut and pinned to numbered sheets. One set for the rectangles and another for the individual stars and the triangular pieces against them. So the next step is to stitch the triangles together to then join the rectangles to the squares a numbered block at a time. It’s 6 across and 36 blocks total. Then I’m going to add the tshirt patches on the red spots. Figuring out the border will be last to make it the same size as the completed reverse half of the quilt. Then comes the deal of figuring out what kind of batting i’m after, it’ll be my first time using it. Then comes the hand stitches, already have my eye on some mint yarn and I was thinking of trying cloud shapes. Should be a pretty forgiving pattern to stick to. If I’m bold I might try a treasure map, maybe… we’ll see when I get there.

iPod is acting up. Somehow the charging portal seems to want to wiggle and make charging it an absolute obstacle course to get anything done. That trilling sound of disconnecting/reconnecting device can grow to nightmare fuel after the seventh time it goes off. Plus the battery just dies as it sits there doing nothing, so that’s fun…So had to go and order a like new refurbished one online that will get here by the 22nd and I can keep my current one limping along till then. Need some music and stories while at work, if I have to listen to the same 30 songs on replay the supposed “DJ” on the store channel has lined up from “requests” workers called in I will go crazy.

First two chapters of The Little Broomstick are up on YouTube. It’s the book that the film Mary and the Witch’s Flower is based off of. There are some differences but I do love the both of them equally.

A good chunk of the way through Huger Games Catching Fire. Have to say it was humorous when Katniss commented to herself that seeing monkeys would be taken as a good sign.

They in fact, were not a good sign. Not a good sign in the least. I knew this from the films but I was grinning to myself at work listening to the audiobook a few good minutes just knowing what was going to come.

Clocked out not long after the escape of the Jabber Jay section of the clock island enclosure thingy. Shall finish the book tonight I believe at work.

Just a bit tired today. Had a discussion about our boring kitchen cabinets that I want to paint apparently I’m not so crazy when I said it was a hard thing to choose what color to go with after all. The going consensus is apparently a mixture of blue, black and gold/and or silver, depending on the way we choose to go. If we don’t just buy new doors seeing as it has the dumbest blocky style that just makes the kitchen look so boring and lifeless in sigh worthy white.

Patches so far for a hexagon quilt. And yes, this is a different quilt than the one I posted for the other day. I have some fluffy Texas themed blankets for the other side of them for a non stuffed quilt throw kind of blanket.

Quilt top done! Yes the bottom left corner arcs in, I started there and I stopped when I saw it was doing that and started on the top corners and it fixed the problem. And the outer uneven edges will be fixed by adding strips to make it match the other side if it ends up a vastly different size. It’s big enough to cover the top of my queen sized bed sans border and other side so ample room to go around the Tshirt cutouts I have ready to lay out on the pattern I have planned for the other side.

Did more quilt work. I have one massive top piece and the two bottom corners to connect possibly tomorrow after work!

The pic is the before of the top portion. Nearly done now. At least with the top then I’ll have to cut the pieces for the back around the t shirt patches that will take a couple days possibly to finish mapping out where everything is going to sit in the pattern I sketched for around those shirt patches.

Don’t ask my why I have an idea for a oneshot where oc has powers secretly and once met Ronan when they were kids and he was brought on a trip to inspect their Earth specimens or something and he slipped her a com device. Across space pen pals if you will. Oc grows up and becomes an astronaut that people tend to brush aside because they aren’t particularly the most chatty or press friendly person, for numerous reasons.

In short oc ends up on the mission from The Martian with Matt Damon, but he leaves and she is stuck and in this version she survives because of her powers and the damn potatoes thrive in Mars’ conditions and it’s a huge scientific breakthrough. Because it’s so stupid they would send him up there with potatoes and miss the chance to let the damn hearty potatoes thrive on Mars after the greenhouse exploded. Potatoes have survived so much they could whip Mars into shape with their eyes closed. And yes that was a potato pun!

Anyways she’s alone and uses her com to chat with Ronan and as soon as he hears she’s been abandoned on Mars he’s grabbing the first ship he can get his hands on and loading it with supplies because he is going to build her an empire on that planet with his own two hands if he has to and now down any human coming to take it back from her when they can manage to build another ship and fire it up at her. One catch though he’s five months of travel away so it’s angst and building up anticipation of seeing her again in person as his big important self. All he can offer is tips and moral support.

Then he gets there and she’s been scouting more of the territory to see what the rivers haven’t gotten to see yet and she’s fully metal. They head inside and she shows him around. He is already not impressed with the shelter they sent her with by what she’d shared before she went on the mission and it’s much more pitiful in person compared to Kree shelters. Internally, he’s a bit disappointed she doesn’t have the same purple eyes and long curls he has been remembering her with all these decades later. But she’s like give it a few minutes it takes longer to turn back the longer I’m out without my suit. Some awkward coughing as the change goes on in her throat and then he has his happy seeing the face he remembered moment and a big hug and after that he offers her a suit he brought her so he can show her around his ship and they can eat while he shares his plans on what they will do next on Mars.

There’s the planning, the shock of when he helped her get the satellite system back up and the shock of NASA getting the info dump of her videos. Cue the internet exploding at news of a mutant growing potatoes on Mars and now there’s a big blue guy helping her too. The world is asking where they’ve been hiding him this whole mission. NASA has questions. Why didn’t she share about her powers? Where she met the blue guy? What exactly does the blue guy mean their ships will be destroyed on arrival if they attempt to take command of Mars again? Then the world is trying to figure out if the planet is a new country seeing as a citizen of Earth now technically rules it, and of course now what other regulations go about on trade and travel deals.

And of course Ronan is able to take a quick trip to orbit Earth so he can go and fetch the senior dog and cat oc had inherited from a neighbor who now were being kept by a friend on base whose partner works with animals. Turns out the atmosphere of Mars isn’t half bad on senior pets joints and Ronan is surprised she has a Maine Coon Flerken, not just a regular cat. Give the bounding giant dog a dose of some Kree meds and he’s set to live a good few hundred years.

Ronan’s been at war for so long now he’s set to give his partner and her fur companions the hobbit life she’s always wanted. He’s certainly got an army behind him to guarantee nobody is attacking her home any time soon.

Had an appointment today so only got to finish reading two chapters of The Luck Child by Rebekah Shafer. Hair past halfway and it’s a lovely book so far.. sad to say a corner is now split and one edge on the top of the back pressed in thanks to my hurrying and putting it in my bag to get downtown faster in case of traffic while it’s been raining on and off. But I did manage to make myself a good few days worth of broccoli cheddar soup so I can have that and try to read more tomorrow and hopefully finish it by my days off. Bit behind on my books I’ve gotten out of my mystery box deliveries. Not that having too many books to read has been a misery for me before, I just really don’t want to get stuck in a not reading slump for years like last time. So much fun going on mini adventures each time I open a new book or old favorite. I missed reading and I’m not giving it up again. And seeing as it’s too wet this week to finish off my gardening plans then it’s good time to work in finishing my current book and hopefully picking a new one to leap into.

Finished the book, it’s good. I would read it again. Only issues is they have all this magic but end up saying cats don’t have nine lives, which sucks because Maugrim is one of my favorite characters and I wish he had a better ending. And Rosemary, the lead lady Cabernet is in love with from his youth is just hollow and sadly unlikable. She argues with him about magic being real or not, moody in the worst of ways just randomly walking off in pretty much every conversation she’s a part of, she invites herself to just rummage through all of Cabernet’s things to steal his books without being given permission to read the books being hidden from her so the magic in them won’t hurt her, she’s just kind of hollow. I like the dialog in the romance bits I just wish they were given to a more likeable character. That’s my only issue with the book, the leading lady really didn’t feel written up to the level of how she’s supposed to be adored.

Well in that book box came a short book, Rain Through Her Fingers by Rabia Gale. It’s less than half an inch thick and 102 pages. Shouldn’t take as long as it took for me to finish the last one I hope. Then I just have to pick what I’ll be reading next.

Did get my latest book box the other day and have to say it has a first won’t read in it. I’ve seen the movie based off it and unfortunately it’s just not a story I want to dig more into so that’s gone on my to sell pile. It’s rated well online so hopefully someone who is more inclined to reading the story will enjoy it.

In other news I bought a map making stamp kit on my lunch break, I have a few ideas of making my own versions of some book maps to add fuller series details not on the maps I can find online and I think it might help them look more official and cool.

13 chapters into The Luck Child so far but I’m taking a break for today I think. Was my Monday at work last night and somehow I managed to tweak my back forty minutes into my shift. Let’s hope it’s not a full two week issue as I have a few appointments this week to drive about to and that will not be fun…especially my having to tell my Dr that I picked up roughly eight pounds and felt a skeleton finger jab in my side/back area that hasn’t relaxed. Didn’t even twist or jerk just easy up and took a step and my old lady bones decided to have my back send me a reminder how badly it can fuck up my month if it catches the fancy to…

I’m not even old, I was just born with the bones of a 648 year old gremlin that got sent to this world from elsewhere. The worst possible version of that isekai nonsense… I’ll be fine, it ends eventually so the bones can sleep a while before they wake up to rattle on again about their woes.

Less than an hour and I’ll be driving to meet a friend from work to watch the Hail Mary movie. Hopefully it’s a good movie, space films can be hit or miss sometimes.

Back from the movie. It’s actually a cool and cute movie. Only issue was the music in a few bits were overpowering but I know that that will not be an issue in a home sound system compared to a theater set up. Might actually buy it when it comes out. Glad it stayed in theaters long enough for me to actually be able to see it. Lately you blink and you kiss them with theater showings.
