Hey guys, please, please please help me out. I need online fiction writers and readers for this survey. It’ll help a lot in the research development of my thesis.
Also, if you guys do answer, I’ll read a few of your stories as well :) Thank you!
My heart was thundering. I couldn’t stop my hands from fidgeting. They kept pulling on the blue sundress I chose to wear. Oh God, I wish I’d picked something more casual. What happens if I was overdressed? What if I overdid my attire and scared him away? Would it really be that easy to scare him off though?
I was so confused. I just didn’t want to think for a while but as the seconds ticked by, thoughts kept flooding my head. Useless ones, useful ones, irrelevant ones and sensible ones – oh my God I’ve wasted 30 seconds just thinking. I’m literally standing in the middle of the living room like a stone figure. I’ve never been this nervous my entire life. I’ve never cared to look nice for something like this either. Who would’ve known that I – a supposed reckless, careless, nonchalant human being – would be scared out of my bones for a one-month anniversary date? Okay, maybe I’m not the carefree-whatever type of person but I wished for the moment I was because my brain was overworking and I think I’m starting to sweat from over-thinking and analyzing things.
Knock, knock.
HOLY SHIT, HE’S HERE.
What do I do? What do I fucking do?!
Well maybe for one, you can open the door, I thought as I smacked my forehead but then retreated back to the bathroom to see if I’d ruined my makeup.
I breathed out deeply and moved my ass to the front door. I mentally counted until 3 before opening door only to have Ian almost falling over me.
“Oops, I’m sor—” Ian cut off midsentence as his eyes slowly trailed from the stilettos I chose to wear, to my sundress and eventually to my eyes where he smiled brightly. “You look stunningly beautiful.”
I looked down and blushed as a big, goofy grin plastered my face. His forefinger instantly cupped my chin and lifted it, landing his lips on mine. For a second, I just froze in the moment, not really knowing what to do but it didn’t take much more than half a second to realize what was going on. His kiss melted every part of my body that remained frozen leaving warmth to flood through my veins. But just when the transition was about to be complete, he pulled away and pulled out a box of chocolates I didn’t realize he was hiding with his other hand.
“You got me so many things already,” I said, brushing a stray curl of his tousled hair from his forehead. I couldn’t get over how handsome he looked in his tuxedo. I swear, I could’ve died here and I wouldn’t regret it because my life already felt pretty complete. “I feel so bad that I didn’t get you anything.”
“You agreed to go out with me and that is more than enough. You’re all I’ll ever ask for, Joanna. You should know that by now.” He tucked my hair behind my ear before kissing my cheek. His hand then slid down from my cheek to my shoulder and then down to my hand. I was smiling nonstop. I’d probably have to ice my cheekbones by the end of the night
Once Ian and I got to the parking lot, he tied his handkerchief over my eyes so I was blindfolded. I complained endlessly about how it was going to ruin my eye makeup but he told me that I looked beautiful with or without make up and that he didn’t really care. That got me quiet. I wasn’t about to go on a full on ramble about makeup. I didn’t want to ruin the perfect evening we had ahead of us.
The drive was probably about half an hour but it didn’t really matter because I got to hold his hand the entire time. The way he rubbed his thumb across the back of my hand was very reassuring. I didn’t know why I needed to feel reassured but the feeling was inevitable and pleasant.
Then the moment of unveiling soon came to pass. Ian, however, brought me inside some place and sat me down on a chair with a table right in front. The blindfold was untied for me and when it fell to my lap, I saw that I was back at the studio where we first met. The whole dance studio was filled with candles and it was just the most perfect setting ever. Ian was standing right in front of me with a rose and as soon as I took it from him, music started playing and he backed away and started dancing to Little Things by One Direction.
The way his body moved to the melody and the way he decorated each word with an action was just above perfection. The sight of him smiling and dancing his heart out for me was the most wondrous feeling I have ever felt in the 18 years I’d been alive and kicking. It was like being alive and seeing the world for the first time. Ian was my whole world now and I don’t think I’d ever want to let him go ever again.
I watched his every move like it would be the last thing I’d ever see before I go blind. I wouldn’t have realized that the song had ended if Ian hadn’t walked up to me and wiped a stray tear from my eye.
I got up and wrapped my arms around him and kissed him intensely on the lips. Every muscle in my body seemed to ache for him and I couldn’t blame them one bit.
We both broke away for air as Ian whispered in my ear.
“I love you.”
I know its a short one but I hope you guys enjoy. Also, I hope you guys don't hate me for not making Little Things about Ian's birthday. I tried to squeeze it all in but I'm far behind as far as this story's timeline is concerned :)) So sorry for the delay!
I went through the motions of my everyday life as any normal person should. My leg had started to feel better and I walked with little to no pain which was pretty surprising because I thought that it would never actually leave. But being physically stable was no match against trying to fix the emotional part of me. I have thought about the whole Ian thing over a million times. It’s the only thing that racks my brain when I’m not thinking of anything else. I hate how it still bothers me. I mean it’s not like I could just forget about him, seeing as he leaves me about a hundred messages per day but sometimes I try to think about what I would be doing if I’d never actually gone through whatever it is I’m going through and I guess my life would’ve been a tad bit boring.
My phone vibrated on my side table, awakening me from a deep slumber. It was probably one of Ian’s ‘Good Morning’ texts. I didn’t bother to check it anymore so I just got up and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. But before I could actually open the fridge, there was a knock on the door. Seeing as I was only half awake, I dragged my feet towards the door and opened it without looking through the peep hole which I would regret later on.
Ian stood on the opposite side with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. I stared at the bouquet and looked at the card. It had the word Happy on it but I couldn’t read what was on the bottom since it was covered by white orchids.
I rubbed my eyes and stared back up at him and raised an eyebrow. “What’s all this?”
His smile faltered a little but he didn’t make it disappear all the way. “It’s our monthsary today. I texted you but maybe you didn’t see it. But here, these are for you.”
I took the flowers from his hand and smiled a little at him. I didn’t actually think that he’d consider this to be our first monthsary. I mean we were on a break so would it still count? I swallowed hard and tried to process everything that was happening without freaking out. I didn’t realize how long he was standing there until he shifted his arm and scratched the back of his head. He looked from left to right, probably to see if anyone saw him just standing there in front of my door.
“Yeah, I picked White Orchids because-”
“Uh, it’s okay. You don’t have to explain anything,” I told him and at this point he completely broke down the tough exterior he was trying to put on.
He sighed and took my free hand in his. “I want you back, Joanna. I know things were bad but we can make them better as long as we’re together. I just know it.”
“Ian, it’s not that simple-”
“What exactly is hard about all this? I mean I don’t mean to sound like a jerk but I just don’t get it. I thought you got past everything.” From the tone of his voice, he sounded so desperate. I didn’t know what to do about it exactly so I shrugged it off.
“I don’t understand it either, okay? All I know is that I’m not okay,” I said, “But I really don’t mean to dishearten you. I just hope that maybe you’ll see it from my point of view and magically understand the abstractness of my mind’s way of thinking.”
Things really weren’t that complicated anymore, actually. I guess it was just pride that was making me crazy stubborn. My dad let me loose and took the next plane to Japan or something for a business meeting while Mom continued the work at the hotel right here in LA.
“The White Orchids symbolizes the most wondrous, wise and beautiful person in my life. That’s why I chose to give it to you. You mean so much to me, Joanna. And if you’re willing, I’d really want another shot to treat you right. I think part of why our relationship got messed up easily was because we moved to fast into it. There wasn’t really a strong core or consistent foundation or pedestal for what he had. But right now, I want us to start building it so it won’t just crumble down,” he explained thoroughly.
“You’ve been playing too much Lego, haven’t you?” I teased as I smiled at him for the first time in three weeks.
“Maybe I have but that doesn’t mean what I just said was pure phony B.S.,” he said shyly, looking at his shoe as he leaned on the door frame.
“Wanna come in?” I asked Ian, making him smile excessively.
“Don’t mind if I do.”
We walked in my apartment and he closed the front door. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed a vase I got about a few years back because I’d thought about getting flowers for the living room but never actually got to use it. I rinsed it water before filling it up halfway. I transferred the flowers in it and made sure it all fit.
Ian was silent as I placed the flowers in the vase. It seemed like he was thinking had about something but I didn’t know what.
“What’s on your mind?” I finally asked, making his head perk up to look at me.
“Just thinking about a restaurant I can take you for tonight,” he said, smiling.
“Who says we’re doing anything tonight?” I raised an eyebrow as he rolled his eyes.
“We are celebrating our monthsary tonight whether you like it or not. Be ready by 7 tonight, okay?”
“Um, do I have a choice?” I placed the vase on the counter top and leaned on it and watched as Ian stood up and made his way to my side.
I turned my body so it was facing his. He tilted my chin up with his forefinger and he looked me right in the eyes. I swear I could’ve melted right then and there but I had to stand my ground. “Do you not want to go?” he asked me, searching my eyes for the probable answer.
“Ian, I-”
“I’m looking for a yes or a no, baby.”
I sighed as I grabbed his wrist to pull away his hold on my chin. “Yes,” was all it took to make him smile like a mad man.
“You will not regret that decision. I shall make sure of that,” he said, kissing me on the cheek. He wrapped me up in his arms and held me tightly.
The funny thing is, the moment he hugged me tightly, the butterflies in my stomach decided to wage war. I just wish they would ceasefire so I wouldn’t have to deal with all this altogether but I couldn’t escape the feelings Ian gave me whenever something like this happened. The butterflies were on his side apparently and they just will not stop until I fall for him all over again.
Ian released me but I only reached a few inches back from his face since he stuck our foreheads together. I managed to snake my arms around his waist as we stayed in that position for a few seconds. He smiled as soon as he realized I was starting to let my walls down a little and let him enter. And at that moment, I didn’t exactly care that I was losing sight of what I was really standing for but that didn’t matter because that’s just what Ian does.
He has this effect on me that makes me feel like there is nothing more important in life than him, that not being with him for such a long period of time would make life seem more meaningless than a day spent at home doing nothing. Come to think of it, he was the one that kept me going. I mean even though he wasn’t exactly with me for the past three weeks, the thought of him in my mind, getting to see him under other circumstances that doesn’t include dance, made me happy. Maybe it was because I knew that no matter what, he’d always be there for me and if I’d told him this I’m sure he’d agree with me.
“So where exactly are we going tonight?” I asked after Ian held both of my hands in his.
He inched back and slowly and brought both my hands up to his lips to kiss the back of my palms and my knuckles. “That’s for me to know for you to find out.”
“You’re mean,” I told him, sliding my fingers off his grip but he wouldn’t let me go.
“No, it’s called a surprise. It’s meant to be fun,” he said.
“Like the time Tucker scared the shit out of you by dressing up as a clown that one time?” I asked him, laughing as I did.
“That wasn’t a surprise. That was a practical joke! And it’s not funny! Clowns are like the scariest shit ever created in this world. They’re pretty pointless too. I mean what kind of kid wants some guy – with crap on his face, dressed up like retard with big feet – entertaining them by making animal balloons and stuff? If I were them, I would start running away before the clown even starts talking.”
“Seriously?” I rolled my eyes at Ian and smacked him playfully on the arm.
And just like that all the memories started to spring back. I guess I’m ready to take him back into my life. This time, I’ll be more aware. I’ll be bulletproof.
Due to popular demand, I gave in to your wishes. Filler though. But it's better than nothing, right? Comments?

I placed the photos back inside the envelope as soon as I felt tears sting my eyes. How could he do this to me? But then I thought and hoped that maybe this was edited. I didn’t have that much time to think because at that moment, I heard hollering from the hallway. It was pretty obvious that the guys were back from the party. I closed the door and ran to the room I shared with Ian. I locked the door and slid down to the floor. I started to sob silently as I felt my heart crumble into itty bitty pieces. The door knob twisted but the person on the other side couldn’t get in since I’d locked it. Luckily, that person didn’t knock because I was so not in the mood to take visitors in.
The tears poured as time passed. I didn’t know how I was gonna get through this but I only hoped I would. I thought about burning the pictures and forgetting whatever I saw but I couldn’t bring myself to my feet. It was as if my emotional pain numbed not only my emotions but my physical self as well. My breathing was far from stable. Actually, it was getting pretty erratic. It was only then that I realized that the noise outside my room had faded. The air was still and silent now. I breathed in – or at least tried to breathe in once – to calm myself down as I lifted myself up. I then opened the door and was shocked to have Brian stumble right on top of me.
“Shit! Are you okay?” he asked, getting off of me almost instantly to check on my leg.
“Its fine, Bri,” I told him, taking his hand as he helped me up.
“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop—” he stopped midsentence as soon as his gaze fell on my face. “Are those tears in your eyes?!”
When he said this, I literally could not stop myself from laughing. His eyes almost popped out of their sockets and the way he said that reminded me of an old lady. It was peculiar and awkward all at the same time.
He smiled a little, probably laughing at what he’d done as well, as he wiped a stray tear. And just like that I ran into him and hugged him as more tears gushed out of my eyes. Brian didn’t even ask. He just shushed me and led me to my bed. He sat right beside me and swept the hair out of my eyes.
“Do you need anything?” he asked. I just looked up at him in wonder. I lifted an eyebrow and he smirked at me, giving me a knowing look.
I shot up instantly and stared right at him. “You know?” I asked him.
“I watched him all night. I tried to stop him but I didn’t want to start a fist fight with him so I came back up here. How did you know?”
“You think it’s funny?” I asked him with a steel look.
“It’s not that. I mean whoever sent this to you must have either a huge obsession with you or a hidden agenda,” he said, getting up from my bed.
“What are you trying to say?” I asked, grabbing his arm before he can actually leave.
“I mean I’m just wondering why someone printed these out for you so quickly,” he said.
Just then, the door to our suite opened and shut. My breath hitched and I tensed a bit. I got up and peaked through the door just to see Ian stumbling his way over to the room. Brian slipped past me and out the door and ran towards Ian before he fell to the ground. He placed Ian’s arm around his shoulder so he could help him up. He was so damn wasted, it was almost hilarious.
I moved out of the room and into the living room to where they were. “I don’t think I wanna share the same bed with him tonight,” I told Brian and he nodded.
“I’ll just put him in the extra room then?” he asked and I nodded.
“You do know I can hear you guys, right?” Ian said, perking his head up. He moved out of Brian’s hold on him and stumbled towards me. He was just about to kiss me when I pushed him away. I slapped him across the face and watched as he fell to the ground. “What the hell did you do that for?”
“You know what for Ian!” I said, biting my lips so they stop quivering.
“What?” he asked, touching his cheek as he got up.
“Let’s just go, Ian,” Brian said, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“I’m tired of this shit Brian! Just let me be, will you!” Ian told Brian, shoving his hand off his shoulder.
Brian was trying to be patient but you can clearly see the impatience on his face. “Just sleep it off, man.”
“Get off me man!” he yelled. “I wouldn’t even be in this predicament if your father hadn’t set me up!”
“Excuse me?” I asked Ian who was looking straight at me.
“You heard me. Your father thinks you’re wasting your life. He’s not here because he’s happy with the decisions you’re making! He’s here because he’s ‘trying’ to set you straight. Somehow I think he played it out real well because here we are arguing about the shit he started,” he said, flaring with anger.
“Y-you don’t know what you’re saying…” I told him, backing away. I looked at Brian but he was staring intently into the back of Ian’s skull.
“Don’t believe me? Ask him yourself. He’s only trying to recruit you,” he said, feeling cocky about his keen observation.
“Stop it,” I whispered, letting the tears fall from my eyes.
I looked away from Ian and made my way back to my room. I didn’t want to have to think about it anymore so I slept in.
**
As soon as the sunlight leaked in my room, I got up and faced the new day ahead of me. My eyes were as tired and puffy but sleeping in some more was out of the question. I went into the bathroom and took a hot shower to clear my head a little. Once I finished, I changed into another set of clothes, brushed my hair and limped back into my room to fix my things. I didn’t want to leave without notice so I wrote a note down and stuck it to the refrigerator in the suite’s living room. It was around 8 in the morning and absolutely no one was up. I walked out with everything I had on my back but just before I could close the door behind me, it pushed right back open, revealing Ian.
“Don’t leave, babe,” he said, placing his hands on my waist.
“I’m not leaving forever, Ian. I just think I need some space.”
“Don’t,” he told me, placing a hand on my cheek.
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t leave me.” His face moved a few inches forward. Our foreheads were touching and I was this close to forgetting I had any pride.
“Ian, I have to do this,” I said, not even sure about what I’m gonna do.
“You don’t have to do anything except forgive me babe. I was a jerk to you last night. I don’t know what the hell got into me but it’s never gonna happen again. I promise,” he told me.
“It doesn’t matter, Ian. It’s not your infidelity I’m running away from.”
He looked at me intently before finally nodding. “Just think fast, okay? I don’t know how many days I can live without you with me.”
I shook my head and moved to the elevators. They dinged almost as soon as I pressed the button. The doors opened and I moved inside, pressing my dad’s floor. Once I reached that floor, I knocked on his door, not caring if he was awake or not.
“Good morning, dear.” He said with a big smile on his face.
“I can’t believe you did this to me, Daddy. I thought you were okay with everything but instead you lie to my face?! How could you?”
“You think I’m happy with what you’re doing with your life, Joanna?”
“Daddy, what matters is that I’m happy and you have to be okay with that!”
And with that I stormed out of the hallway and to the elevators which gave me a rather quick escape. I never thought I’d have the guts to say that to his face but I sure am glad I did. I just didn’t know what I was supposed to do now.
Hey guys :) I love you all so much for not unfollowing me while waiting for the next chaps.
