anime is good actually
People who hate Frodo Baggins are my enemy. "He didn't do anything and was useless"--yeah, okay, so what you're not understanding is that he was the sacrificial lamb. He endured physical, mental, and emotional torment that got worse and worse as his will broke. Everyone knew this. EVERYONE KNEW THIS. That's why everyone was devastated about it. Because Frodo was the most innocent among them, that was the entire point. He represented ordinary peaceful people being destroyed by the horrors of war. And as a hobbit he also represented some of the last vestiges of magic in what was basically a post magic apocalypse.
Frodo was basically an innocent puppy thrown into the Torment Nexus so that EVERYONE ELSE could maybe have a hope of surviving. And he did that willingly. HE DID IT OF HIS OWN FREE WILL, KNOWING IT WOULD RUIN HIM.
Frodo haters won't see the light of heaven
I wonder if Kishimoto has watched Brokeback Mountain
Because if his staff is writing this

噂話の ウソ ホント
Rumors: Lies or Truth
1st. Paragraph:
サスケと 七代目火影は 犬猿の仲!?
Sasuke and the Seventh are on bad terms!?
2nd Paragraph:
七代目火影が人目を忍んで会っていたの は… なんとサスケ! 滅多に姿を見せな いサスケも、火影にはたびたび会っている 様子。 しかしこのふたり、 かつては一触即 発だったという噂が・・・・・・?
The person the Seventh Hokage was meeting with in secret was none other than Sasuke! Sasuke, who rarely shows up in public, seems to meet the Hokage often. However, there are rumors that the two were once on the verge of an explosive encounter…
3rd Paragraph:
家族に会っていくよう勧めるナルト。頑ななほど拒むサスケの真意は・・・?
Naruto encourages Sasuke to meet his family. What is Sasuke's true intention when he stubbornly refuses?
The explosive encounter that they apparently had after Naruto suggested Sasuke to go see his family makes me think of that scene where Ennis and Jack are already 39 having an argument and Jack snaps and goes "We could've had a good life together, fucking real good life, had us a place of our own but you didn't want it Ennis!"
What do you think of the opinion that Sakura & Hinata actually are well written because they’re intentionally terrible? Like Sakura being shallow, self absorbed, unlikable was intentional by kishimoto. And Hinata having very little personality outside of loving Naruto to the point she has doesn’t interaction with the majority of the cast. It’s like he couldn’t imagine a way to get her to interact with others when she was only concerned with Naruto.
Hi anon!
I think Sakura was intentionally written that way, Kishimoto himself has stated he wanted to portray a "realistic" girl in her and that's what he did according to himself, he was just then shocked she happened to be unpopular among the girls audience.
There is this trend in the fandom in which they think everything was written accidentally because Kishimoto is dumb, like oh the silly little Asian guy that doesn't know what he's doing. But he knew, like Sakura is 100% supposed to be that way because Kishimoto in his misogyny thinks (or thought) that's how young girls are, very probably based on his school days. It doesn't make the writing less misogynistic just like it's not less intentional.
As for Hinata, she was never supposed to be more than a background character, that's why Kishimoto never expanded on her, and he's expressed several times he's shocked that she got to be as popular as she did because he never put any effort on her because she's simply not an important character.
But they aren't the only female characters that suffer from Kishimoto's misogyny, people just focus on them because they're the "love interests", but another thing we can point out in his writing is how every single female character in the series is male centered, even the ones the fandom likes and considers to be the "better written" of the bunch like Kushina, Tsunade or Konan, their motivations and lives revolve around men, the men in their lives hold so much power on what they do and think it's honestly like woah...
Speaking of Konan she was also one of the biggest victims of Kishimoto's misogyny the way she was killed off in perhaps, the most forced scenario in the series, because Kishimoto favoured Obito and his storyline with Kakashi.
I don't think we have a battle between a kunoichi and a male ninja in which the kunoichi won in the series, correct me if I'm wrong, but like Tsunade winning against Orochimaru is the closest thing to it and she still got the help of Naruto and Jiraiya. Then for Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori, the women win but then Kishimoto has Chiyo say it's because Sasori "let them win" which I suppose is because Kishimoto hates Sakura and will never let her have anything but when you look at the bigger picture is a very weird pattern.
I wish people would discuss Kishimoto's misogyny in his writing without reducing it to a homophobic dig "Kishimoto is so misogynistic he accidentally made Naruto and Sasuke gay" or without only focusing on Sakura and Hinata and how it makes them look pathetic as love interests so it makes NH and SS look bad as ships.
some naruto fans be like “this is my favorite character so i will ignore their characterization and assign them traits from another preexisting character instead”
So I've wondered sometimes why do sasu/saku shippers get so mad when people recognise the text that there is something weird about Sarada's birth. The text says Sakura is her mother (and is so regardless of genetics), so clearly the issue isn't with questions of maternity or cheating, and if we take a step back there's the reality that many happy and loving couples have children in ways other than the 'natural' aka sexual intercourse, such as IVF, surrogacy, or adoption. The murky science of the setting along with Gaiden's focus on cloning opens up an avenue of both cloning and a form of unethical DNA collection, but none of that means for sure that the child is actually the sole reason for dysfunction in the marriage between these characters. In actuality, I'd argue she's less a concrete reason and more a symbol of the fuller issues, that saying that the issues exist regardless of her existence, but that she's a stand in to explore them and also a compounding factor. Yet the push back isn't a refute of that, but that anything could be 'unnatural' about Sarada.
I think the real reason for this push back is because 'unnatural' pregnancy and birth are challenges to heterosexuality itself. Heterosexuality survives based off the necessity of procreation, that is at the core of it being held up as the one and only 'natural' state of relationship. The sasu/saku ship similarly survives off being heterosexual, it's considered a 'natural' end point to people for these characters to get together because they are a man and a woman, rather than anything to do with the actual dynamic between them. The obsession with misinterpreting Sasuke's statements about 'reviving' his clan as procreation similarly speak to this assumption made by readers and specifically these shippers. The ideal of a heterosexual marriage is held up by many as the correct path towards children, and children must be 'natural'; they are proof of the love in a marriage, and therefore any question of Sarada's origin is a direct threat to the ship.
IMO the marriage itself has questionable legitimacy and that's what Kishi wanted to imply with the lack of a wedding picture. I read it as Sakura coming back to Konoha with a baby presumably birthed by Karin, and the reason why she'd agree to it are not clear to me (for Sasuke's sake? Did Sakura tell her Sasuke wanted to revive his clan? Was it Orochimaru's experiment?); then Sakura telling everyone she had Sasuke's baby and that they're married or whatever but since Sasuke is off doing his thing he can't come back, but she's Uchiha Sakura now, and as such he builds her new status and family: with lies heaped over more lies.
But this is SUUUCH a twisted thing that SS and Sakura fans probably don't want to acknowledge lol And I'm sure Pierrot most likely tried to "fix" Kishi's writing and added or changed a bunch of stuff for the Gaiden anime adaptation (like the family picture)

remember in Shippuden how Sasuke being anti-murder was like. a big thing. like he's the only person in the entire show I recall showing actual regard for human life by default and going out of his way to avoid killing people unless it's absolutely neccassary (or he REALLY thinks they deserve it).
like. Naruto is not anti-murder. Sakura is not anti-murder. SASUKE is SO anti-murder that him killing people in the Kage Summit is meant to be read as a real negative character development that's genuinely shocking and sad to see instead of. another tuesday, like it would be for. any other shinobi.
Like theres people that point out how weird it is in the kage summit that suddenly everyone's commenting on Sasuke killing samuri and being all appalled and horrified 'even though you're all ninja! why is it suddenly so bad when sasuke does it!' BUT. It IS shocking and horrifying. Because SASUKE does it. sasuke being willing to go THROUGH the people that opposed him instead of taking the time to non-lethally dispose of them was a WELL WRITTEN CHARACTER BEAT to show how desprate he was to kill Danzou by any means neccassary (building up to even going through karin to do it!), and it was NOT him just. 'going crazy out of the blue for no reason'.
After EVERYTHING 'Madara' says, he STILL gives Danzo the chance to plead his case! He cares about having ANSWERS more then about blind revenge! He learned his lesson with known liar Itachi and super suspicious weirdo Marada!! Can someone! for once in his life! GIVE IT TO HIM STRAIGHT!

one thing that i can't get out of my head is how malthus went from shoving a cross and calling hilda a demon disguised as herself to referring to her as a half angel and half demon that tests her power over men, and then finally introducing her as an angel disguised as a devil who saved him and opened his eyes. he's so in love it's making me insane.
