We all have one person who hurt us so much, that it changed us forever.

You said your life was a mess but I disagree. Youâre a walking piece of art.

Mostly,â she said, âitâs the fear that if we allow anyone to know us the way we know ourselves, theyâd rather not know us at all.

Do not read, as children do, to amuse yourself, or like the ambitious, for the purpose of instruction. No, read in order to live.

Always say âyesâ to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say âyesâ to life â and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.

To be able to rekindle the friendships, to renew the bonds and to reconnect with people who shaped me to who I am today was a great experience. This time, we did not only talk of the past, or of the future. No, our conversations did not just include spoken words but it encompasses even the silent and sometimes awkward moments. It encloses even the small glances that we had and overall just the present experience of us being together.

The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own.â

A Journey Inside
It has always been part of our lifeâs routine to answer questions of âWho are you?â or â Tell me about yourselfâ, and Iâve known people, myself included, who have repeatedly answered by saying their favorite color, hobbies, likes and dislikes. But itâs very rare to meet people who openly show us part of themselves so easily. Although Iâd say maybe it was because itâs the first time we met or that the time spent together was not enough to help us get closer and more comfortable with each other.
It was natural. We meet, we get to know the other, we get closer and only then can we talk of things more freely than before.
However through the years, even as friends or bestfriends, there are parts of ourselves that we could not easily say. So I wonder, is it because of the lack of trust, or maybe is it because we, ourselves, have no complete idea of the being that we are?
And that is true. Yes, there are many factors that can affect our relationship with others but it is also a fact that not knowing ourselves fully hinders us from showing and giving parts of ourselves to other people.
Just like the million possibilities that can arise from different situations and the thousand more âwhat-ifsâ in our lives, our self â the very environment inside that keeps us human â is a vast ocean that we could never be able to cross so easily. Knowing yourself is a journey, a challenge. And that is what I learned because no matter how long a time you give yourself to try and figure out who you truly are, you would discover new things after another that sometimes it seems as if all the time in the world could never be enough.
But thatâs the beauty of it all. You discover yourself not only by the small, silent seconds youâve stayed in the room, closed your eyes and think about yourself. That person in you changes and becomes something more in each situation you come across, in every people you meet, and in all encounters youâve had in your life.
We are not just permanent, fixed and immovable beings. We are constantly changing and that is why we can never fail to think of things about ourselves. Thus recognizing who we truly are, is a voyage that we take every day slowly but surely. And by doing so, we can give even a small portion of ourselves to others and maybe one way or another, influence and be a part of their lives, as well.
Iâve learned that as much as we smile at each otherâs similarities, we must celebrate the differences that make us unique as well.
blankspaces-and-emptyvessels (I am me)
"I expect you to be better," you told me and all I did was smile silently. If only you knew that that was the last thing I wanted to hear from you despite being the first words I figured you'd tell me when we meet again. If only, then you'd never had to see me lose myself in you like this.
