Blaseday Fan Fest is a Blaseball fan event that I'm running to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Return of Blaseball, incorporating fanwork prompts and a game rewatch as well as a poll-based "election"! Everyone is welcome to join in!
The event will take place on July 20 (Blaseball's sixth blirthday), with live group watch and fanwork submission on that date, though election polls will be posted one week before to allow the results to be released on 7/20. The (loose) deadline for fanworks is any time on July 20, 2026, anywhere on the immaterial plane. To submit works, post them (or a link) by that date and use the tag #BDFF26 work so they can be reblogged to this page! Also, #BDFF26 info will be the general info tag for the event. More info (rules, helpful links & resources, etc) under the readmore!
Rules
Be respectful. Blaseball encourages multiple interpretations — if another interpretation isn't to your taste, don't yuck their yum!
No use of generative AI. Respectfully, if you aren't willing to put any time into making it, why would others want to waste any time on looking at it?
Any type of fanwork goes. Fanwork can be of any medium, size, or completion status. No need to use the prompts if you don't want to, as they're just suggestions!
Use content warnings as needed. As a general rule, if you wouldn't want your boss or teacher to see it at work or school, PLEASE tag fanworks accordingly.
Have fun!
Elections
Four polls: one "decree" equivalent, two raffle-style "blessing" equivalents, and one poll with a percentage-based objective to give us a chance to do some organized strategic voting!
Election polls and results will be tagged #BDFF26 election
Election polls open on July 13 at 8 AM PDT / UTC-7 (what time is that for me?) and will run for one week
Results will be posted on July 20 at 12 PM PDT / UTC-7 (what time is that for me?)
Fanworks / Prompts
Feel free to use these (or not) at any time — these are just suggestions to give inspiration to anyone who needs it:
Have Hope / Released / Weather / Pre-History / Ballpark / Memory
Tag works as #BDFF26 work so I can reblog it to this page! Any kind of work is eligible, including music, propaganda, wiki page, explainer or "oral" history, spreadsheet or other data visualization, podcast (discussion or fiction), sportscast, podfic, or anything else you could think of. (If you're doing a podfic or a cover of a song, make sure you credit the original creator please!) Again, the deadline is any time on July 20, anywhere on earth, so if it's still July 20 in any time zone, it's still on time! (You can still post after that, I just may not reblog it here.)
Livewatch
We will be livewatching a game via Before as a group at (TIME TBD i'll edit this post once it's decided) on July 20. Specific game and time will be determined via a combination of tumblr polls and random chance (e.g. dice roll, or something similar). Once the liveblog begins, post along in the #BDFF26 live tag!
Polls to help decide what game we watch will be posted within the next few days (under the #BDFF26 info tag). Those will be used to decide mostly what season the game is from; likely the specific teams playing will be chosen via random number generator because I want smaller teams to have a chance to be chosen as well. Also, I'm just one person, so we'll only be watching one game as an official part of the event.
Alright, that's all! Thanks for reading, Blaseball fans! I hope you're all as excited as I am!

Blaseball's sixth birthday is just around the corner! Post your fanworks to the #BDFF26 work tag at any time on July 20, anywhere on Earth to submit! ALL info for the event can be found here!
may or may not make fan work but. Howell Franklin.
SO true!
(I will say, my vision for this event is that the criteria for submission is as broad as possible, and anything at any level of completion / polish counts. Even if it's a 30 second doodle / 4 sentence fic / 11 seconds of music, it counts! So I just want to encourage you to do something even if it's really small!)
I'm not familiar with Blaseball elections. What do you mean when you say the blessings will be chosen by raffle?
In Blaseball elections, blessings were done as raffles, so votes basically functioned as raffle tickets. A fan could put in a ton of votes into a blessing so their team had a better chance of winning it, but there was still a chance for teams that hadn't put in as many votes to win those blessings, even if they only put in one vote out of 50,000! The name for this was a "wimdy", which usually referred to a team winning a blessing with 0% of the vote (but no more than 1%), and it was also often used as a verb (as in "This term comes from a tweet referring to when the Dale wimdied a blessing called Wind Sprints.")
Okay, so how are YOU going to do it?
Once the polls closed, I'm going to calculate the number of votes each option has based on percentage and number of votes. Then, each option will be assigned a range accordingly. After that, I'll use a random number generator, and whichever range the result falls in will be the winner!
EXAMPLE: Poll with three options: A (75%), B (20%), and C (5%). The poll ended with 100 votes.
A = 1-75
B = 76-95
C = 96-100 (so 96,97,98,99,100)
Random number between 1 and 100 — RESULT: 89
89 falls in B's range, so B wins!
On the Decree and the Idol Board bonus round, since those results won't be decided by raffle, they'll be revealed just by the poll ending. Why are you making those results part of the election announcement if we'll already know who won?
Blaseball elections were accompanied by flavor text, particularly with decrees. Idol board stuff wasn't technically part of an election usually, but that could also have some aspect of flavor text. I want to recapture the feeling of finding out election results. Tumblr's polls were just the most accessible option for the event's audience.
How were players chosen for the blessing polls?
By hitting the "Random page" button on the Blaseball Wiki until I had enough players to fill a poll. For the Mayoral blessing, I also made sure each of the main 24 teams was represented by at least one player.
What about the Idol Board bonus round? How were those players chosen?
Those are all just popular players from the Discipline Era that for the most part I chose by asking myself, "Is this name a relatively deep cut?"
Why are we voting for BDFF Mayor?
Why not?
What do players get if they win?
Well, bragging rights mostly. I like to imagine that the Mayor of BDFF 2026 will get a fun little mayor's sash and maybe a top hat.
Can I make propaganda?
Go right ahead! That's part of the purpose of including an election as part of this event — I wanted to give people something to make propaganda for!
Who should I vote for?
Who do you want to be mayor? Who do you want to give a hot meal? These are the questions you may want to ask yourself. Then again, this isn't an officially sanctioned league election, so you can probably do whatever you want. In fact, that's also what we often did in officially sanctioned league elections.
Here are our prompts! Feel free to use any, all, some, or none of them as you see fit!
