I think the debate on whether or not DOOM is a christian series is a fine debate in like a “how do cultures generally view religious imagery in media relative to their own metaphysical lens.” However, in the literal context of DOOM being made with any sort of primary religious mindset is sort of immediately moot when you just look into the original 1998 dev team at all.

I’d say the one thing about TDA that actually irked me by the end of it was Samuel’s absence. Like, not even screentime, he wasn’t even mentioned and passing and it’s just like, why?

Part of it I get cause like, okay, they wanna stick with this Dark Ages thing for future installments as well so I’m certain we’ll see him at some point; with that said I still think Samuel having a part in TDA would’ve given the story some much needed spice. Where does he stand in the Maykr hierarchy? Was he already a suspect to the Maykrs?

TDA really struggles with having so few key players for such an expanded story; we only ever learn about and experience the sentinels through Thira exclusively (what the fuck happened with that priest lol?) and Bishop Kreed is the only addition to the Maykr’s who doesn’t really add much to the lore. This is shit i’ll probably use again in an longer post in the future about my gripes with how disjointed and lacking TDA is as a story considering all the pre-established lore, but for now I just really miss Samuel, come home the kids miss you.

Y’know, the biggest drawback of Nu-DOOM is just how many amazing concepts just go unused or become really watered down. TDA has that same issue as Eternal where the game itself is still amazing but just doesn’t ever feel as ambitious as the devs truly want them to be, whether that be due to outside forces or otherwise.

Yes hello sorry I am still alive.

I got started at University a few weeks ago which has been a major adjustment, being out of state and all (I’m a massive homebody) so this blog has been a little neglected. I still probably won’t be super active but I am still here and do still like talking about DOOM! Now is just a time where I need to focus on my personal life so activities again gonna be on the down low. I’ll be sure to shoot the shit about Dark Ages DLC and stuff when anything comes up of it.

Major TDA Update just launched:

To recap:

-Customizable Horde Mode (Demon Selection, Time Limit Settings, Music Track Selection, Etc.)

-Slo-mo settings for parry and melee

-Overall shield improvements

-Weapon swap speed buff + Parry/Block while swapping.

Hugo says the Ripatorium is in its early stages, and will continue to be supported with updates during the games lifespan.

No master levels just yet!

Roughly estimating, this was probably my 12-15th attempt at UN. Was honest to god sweating bullets on those last three levels, those last two encounters in Reckoning are a major hurdle. Ahzrak and Witch fight fortunately isn’t too bad when you have parry patterns down, his ground slam can be a bitch to read though. Overall a really clean run, default sliders fyi. General setup was Cycler, Daggers for the rune, and flail for armor and ammo. The flail really carries ever since the last stand patch, with how intense UN can get you want your armor stacked almost always. Daggers are good for making up the lack of burst dps for the Cycler. Overall really good run to finish it on and can’t wait for dlc.
