                        he is unlike his brothers --- they warned her about him . he was the one riddled in scars , unable to contain his emotions even though ... even though he seemed the most emotionless . it takes years for him to talk , azusa realizes this ; like he had to think before he said anything . who were they to tell him how he could get over the way he was ? and who was to say his brothers even wanted to help him in the first place ? perhaps they hoped no one would pay any mind to someone like him . he’s certain they didn’t care .

                        once again he is left to his own thoughts , fingers trailing over a knife he’d recently shined ... watching as fingertips smudge the mirror-esque blade . cloth returns to the blade , erasing any mark previously made : the process repeats several times before eyes slowly make their way upward --- the flash of blonde distracting . ❛ yui ... san , ❜ the vampire calls , softly , before gaze falls back downward . as usual , he expects her to flee ... who would stick around a volatile being like him ? her presence was unwarranted , but not unwelcome .

                         she sits beside him on the small bench , and arm reaches to replace the knife with the rest , cloth coming back to rest in his lap .❛ you must ... find me ... ❜ the male pauses even more so , a question lingering in the space between them . it’s almost as if he’s afraid , after all these years of those being afraid of him .❛ aren’t you ... afraid , yui - san? ❜ but eyes never lift from his lap , fingers curling and crumpling the cloth he’d been using . he held restraint --- much more than he thinks his brothers do .

         ❛ ne , eve — no … yui - san? ❜ he promised her he wouldn’t anymore — the knives were only for decoration and he wasn’t going to use them to carve new ‘ friends ’ into his arms . but the urge … it dug further than skin deep and it rose as fire under his skin and into his very core . as if flesh seared down to the bone , azusa couldn’t contain the powerful urge to plunge blade into pallid skin . intricate designs patterned like lace trailed up his forearm , leaving dripping trails of red . 

        it didn’t stop there . he’d continued , a bit more ragged , on the other arm , circling around justin … and christina … framing them stark reminders as to why he even began in the first place . ❛ you must … really hate me now . ❜ eyes now rimmed by deep , dark circles come to rest at the girl standing in the doorway , his own form slumped half off the bed . arms came to rest on the mattress , the culprit of his wounds laying in the middle of the blankets .

      ❛ yui - san … is it … such a terrible crime … to want to feel alive … and yet … want to die at the same time ? ❜ because maybe then he wouldn’t feel so inclined to hurt — he wouldn’t want to harm himself this way or he wouldn’t think at all ; if only he were dead .
