Made my appointment to get tested this week. #KnowYourStatus #GetTested #WorldAidsDay
Here’s my theory. The Harry Potter trio are actually representations of the other houses. Hermione is Ravenclaw. Ron is Hufflepuff. Harry is Slytheryn. They’re all in Gryffindor because they asked. In fact, everyone in that house could have been in another house if they hadn’t asked to be in Gryffindor. You have be ask to be in Gryffindor because their most defining feature is bravery and anyone can choose to be brave.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart.

I’d been seeing this quotation everywhere, but without a cited source, and it drives me mental when there’s no cited source, so I tracked it down. Turns out it’s from the JKR/WB vs. RDR Books trial back in 2008.
Has she ever stated directly that lycanthropy was an HIV metaphor? I hadn’t thought so. If she had I would have remembered because, the thing is, even though any person, regardless of orientation, can contract HIV/AIDS, it has been inextricably associated with gay men, and, as an author, if you were writing about lycanthropy as an HIV metaphor, you might write a relationship between the werewolf and another man [read:Sirius] in a way that is ambiguous, but possibly romantic, in order to guide the sensitive reader to that interpretation and then, later, if you wanted to explore the struggles of paternity, have him begin a relationship with a character who presents in a very queer way (and has the magical ability to transform her body at will yet never uses this magical ability in a way that is important to the story) so as not to erase his queerness. At least, that’s how I make sense of it all.

Urgent security update
Bad news: A major vulnerability has been disclosed for the technology that powers encryption across the majority of the internet. That includes Tumblr. Our team took immediate action to fix the issue, but you should still take some time to change your password, not only here but on any other sites you visit. You should also strongly consider enabling two-factor authentication. It’ll go a long way to ensure that no one besides you can access your account. Thanks, and take care.
Don’t seek, don’t search, don’t ask, don’t knock, don’t demand – relax. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax, you start vibrating with it.
