As a pens fan (ick I know) so hard to decide if it’s worth it because I want Sid geno and tanger to have another chance at playoffs and I also know realistically they weren’t going to win the cup (despite the hope in my heart) and it cost us the picks the we’ll need for the rebuild once they retire

yessss exactly. it’s kind of like, when you already know you’re gonna lose, how much is it worth it, you know? i feel like it all changes when you feel like you have a legit shot even if it is as an underdog but when everyone’s kind of like in the headspace of well we’re not getting close to the cup but these four/five games are gonna be fun etc. Idk all personal opinion i guess but espesh if you don’t have your new core yet how much is the experience worth it etc etc

re ur post i do see what ur saying but also someones gotta be kicked out in round 1 or 2 of the playoffs 😭 at some point a rebuilding team has to start making pushes and continuing to build their team thru smart trades instead of smart drafting i guess

i meant more with a certainty that you are not getting a cup. like personally i feel even if there’s a slim chance you win but then get kicked out of the play offs that’s a whole different thing. but if you know you’re gonna get steamrolled no matter what and you come in with a just happy to be invited vibe then you have to wonder if it’s worth it and how much

your question abt getting kicked out round 1 or 2 of playoffs, I think it’s true for some teams but not true for others. teams like oilers stars canes tampa with cup expectations I don’t think it’s good at all but a team like philly or even buffalo I would say any playoffs experience is good experience. just depends how deep into your contention window you are I feel
