Here’s a peek into the writing process for @blimps’ contribution to Read More Comix 2.

The first photo is the story all laid out on individual cards. The second photo is all cards that were cut from the story or replaced in the process.

This isn’t a method I invented, but it’s one I highly recommend because of how freeing and efficient it is.

The pressure of drawing the first panel of a comic is so great that it makes it nearly impossible to start drawing a page from scratch. With the cards, you can draw five first panels until you have one you wanna build on. And you can look back on what you’ve written and rearrange the order, cut things that aren’t working, draw them from a different angle, etc. Anyways, definitely worth trying out if you like writing comics but have experienced some of those problems I described.

Read More Comix 2 will feature 8 pages from each of us for a total of 24 pages of full-colour comics that I for one am getting really excited to see.

It will debut at Canzine in Toronto on October 29th.
