he pretended not to notice the invasion of his personal space, despite the warmth of the other man’s breath caressing his skin. he was a little too focused on not 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 their meal this time around, which was easier said than done when he couldn’t see the colour of the food as it cooked away. though, he was confident that “ xiao you ” would let him know if it was browning a little too much.

albeit his words being scolding, his tone was light. amused almost. cooking was one of the things xingchen had never been good at, even with his vision. song zichen was in charge of preparing their meals, while the two of them travelled together. but even then, xingchen often took it upon himself to at least try && prepare something edible. it wasn’t fair for one of them to do all the work.

There isn’t much to be done other than watch closely the seeming pointlessness of a simple task so clumsily done by those delicate hands. Surely they could be of use to anything except this. doing things without his vision had been proven much more of a tedious task than xingchen would’ve ever expected. despite having 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 the remainder of his senses considerably, more often than not, he was in need of some assistance. his head turned toward the now familiar voice ； a soft smile adorning handsome features. it had been over a year since xiao xingchen had rescued a badly battered stranger from the side of the road.

❛ it’s quite alright ------------ i think i can 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐄. ❜ he hummed calmly, velvet fingertips fumbling with the pots && pans before him. letting a BLIND man cook was, undoubtedly not the wisest of ideas. but xiao xingchen was 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐁𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐍. a’qing was also blind && it wasn’t fair for “ xiao - you ” to be doing all the tedious work.
