That's so awesome! Considering I'm kind of in a perpetual creative slump these days, I'm really glad to hear people are still enjoying Tsundoku even though I haven't done what I want with the rewrite yet.

(which was meant to be more than just adding 5k of Pakkun in that first chapter but I need to rewrite my rewrite lmao. Anxiety, dudes, it's rough)

Please feel free to comment on the fic itself if there's anything that still stands the test of time. Knowing what people enjoyed when I was writing it helps me feel like it was worth it.

I have decided to block anyone who comments on my fics solely to complain or say something is abandoned.

A freeing decision, honestly, although it's unfortunate, since I do get a fair amount of those kinds of comments. There's so little positive interaction in the comments these days that it's not worth the energy of dealing with.

There's enough negativity out there, why do you have to throw more needlessly around? Why take the time to read something that I've written and shared for free, out of my free time, and then tell me you don't like it, or lament how you wasted time reading it, or that "I can't believe it's abandoned uwu" as of that will make me want to write more? Just hit the goddamn X or back if you don't like it. I don't care. I don't want to know.

Hey, so like, if you guys see my fanfic anywhere other than AO3 - or Tumblr on my account - please let me know so I can have it removed.

Just found out someone took Tsundoku and made a YT vid of it getting ready by an AI and it's super disheartening that I have to fight to get that removed.

No one has permission to use my works for profit. This is just another kind of disrespect that makes me contemplate removing my works.

one of my favorite things to do in limited perspective is write sentences about the things someone doesn't do. he doesn't open his eyes. he doesn't reach out. i LOVE sentences like that. if it's describing the narrator, it's a reflection of their desires, something they're holding themselves back from. there's a tension between urge and action. it makes you ask why they wanted or felt compelled to do that, and also why they ultimately didn't. and if it's describing someone else, it tells you about the narrator's expectations. how they perceive that other person or their relationship. what they thought the other person was going to do, or thought the other person should have done, but failed to. negative action sentences are everything.

Thank you! It's always super awesome to know that my work hit good points with people, and covered the bases that I was hoping for! Character development and growth are some of my favorite things - outside of world building, lol - to do when I'm writing.

I have a few Naruto OC fic that I enjoy, and a few SI's, but I'd honestly have to go hunting for them and I don't have the oomph for that right now. If a few people are interested I might do a good old fashioned rec list at some point, but otherwise I might have some in my bookmarks? I honestly can't remember what I've bookmarked or not lol.

i tend to listen to fanfics over reading them and its no joke when i tell you ive re listened to tsundoku over and over and over while just going about my day

Heya. I got once again sucked into the naruto fandom and I found your fic Tsundoku. And I'm obsessed with it. I've been reading it in between lectures and work for the past few days (I'm on chapter 9) and I have to honestly say that it's one the best fics I've read in a while. The characterisation, how you work with canon events and change them, the plot and the slow burn hell... I'm not even halfway done and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna reread this when the naruto fandom finds me again in the future. I'm not doing a lot of writing right now - brains are dumb - but it is always a joy to know that people still like Tsundoku and go back for rereads. It makes my want to really work on the rewrite when I can more solid of a goal.

Rewrite

Okay! So I think the rewrite of the first chapter is done.

Although I'm not particularly sure if rewrite would be the best way to say it as it feels more like a really heavy edit lol. I'm gonna give it another once over - I am unable to edit without adding a few k of words, end me - and then see about posting that first chapter!

Any recommendations on titles, or should I go for the usual "Tsundoku 2.0", "Tsundoku Rewrite" etc, kind of route?

So like, I know I have a lot of WIP out there. A lot of fic I haven’t updated in a long time but have no plans of abandoning because I love all of my writing and I do have plans for all of my works. It’s just finding motivation that’s the issue, not the intent to finish them.

If I’d planned to never work on something again, I’d do what most people do these days and label it as Abandoned. Hell, if I hated it and decided to axe it completely, I’d just remove it.

There are plenty of fic I follow that haven’t been update in a long time - some over a decade, and that’s fine - and I love to reread and daydream about potential endings. A fun way to pass the time, because I can come up with the endings or continuations in my own way even if they never get finished.

I don’t, however, contemplate stealing them.
