as a baby soon to be game dev, i keep browsing and i can’t find many good developing sites, what did you use to make purple? i really like the rpg style of the game, but i dont know where to find a site with mechanics like that

oh its not a site, most game engines are standalone programs youll need to learn!

purple was made with rpgmaker vx ace, you can buy it on steam! theres also rpgmaker MV which is VERY good and a few other rpgmaker engines, but VX ACE and MV are the best ones in my opinion

you can also try your hand at unity, but it takes a lot more coding knowledge whereas with rpgmaker you can learn the basics to make some simple starter games (though purple took a lot of coding and scripting that youll need to learn if you want to make something more advanced like that!)

I don't know English, so I can't understand everything. But what does the "XOX" print mean in one of the endings of the John Doe game?

XOX is both "hugs and kisses" and a little face of someone being dead like in a cartoon when a character gets xs for eyes! it has multiple meanings ^w^

xs and os are also a term of endearment and they the xs are hugs and the os are kisses!

In Purple, Randall, by not taking his pills, goes to Uncanny Valley, and as far as we know, he and You are the only ones from our world who went to that place that is not on any map, does that mean that Uncanny Valley is a place where people who are mentally unstable go?

its a place where people who are lost go

they dont necessarily have to be mentally unstable, ivy is quite even keel

if you are lost in life, you may find a place in the valley, and if you dont find the valley, it may find you

Are you worried about the new censorship rules on Itch.io and whether or not they will affect your games?

yes, ive been talking about it on my nsfw twt about it, i dont really post much here

i dont think a random pearl clutching puritanical group should be allowed to push payment processors into extreme censorship rules and in turn payment processors should not be allowed to tell adults what we can and cant spend our money on.

we are on the way towards a grey and government controlled world and its extremely scary

and it doesnt end with nsfw content, itll move on to lgbt, POC, neurodivergent and all minority made content in order to sanitize and remove us. it just starts with nsfw content.

I'm just curious, but why can't you restock the Tate and Randall plushes? I know you've said before that not enough we're sold, but are there other criteria that they needed to meet to be sold again? /genq

because they are made through makeship.

makeship creates plushies based off the popularity of a creator and the creator pays nothing to have a prototype made, but the catch is that once the plushie design drops on the website there has to be AT LEAST 200 sales for the plush to even be produced, other wise buyers get refunded and the plush is scrapped

200 sales means i get 10% of the profit made (which is pretty much nothing) and 400+ sales means i get 30%

the tate barely made it past 400 but randall did not make it that far

with sales that low, makeship prefers to stick with something with higher numbers which is why theyre more apt to restock john doe who made it to the 900s as opposed to plushes with low sales like randall and tate, itd be a waste of time for them to reproduce them and its already extremely hard to get to to remake a plush, they tend to only do another round of the same plush if it was a popular one like gorilla tag or roblox, etc

the odds of them letting me do another round of tate and randall are extremely low to none which is why it was important for them to sell well in their initial drop and why they cant be brought back now

makeship is a nice site who doesnt charge the creator, but at the same time the creator has to be able to pull in sales for it to be worth it to makeship, otherwise its a net loss for their company

Hello!! I wanted to ask if there's any other way to refer to Randall and their system? I've seen other systems have their own collective names but I haven't seen anything about them and just calling them "Randall's system" sounds silly /nm

Also, are you okay with people yumeing them? Ik you've said you don't mind selfshippers but idk if you'd feel uncomfortable specifically about them and I don't want to be disrespectful ( ´Д｀)

purple takes place in 1996 so DID wasnt really that well researched and system names werent really a thing afaik

i also have never wanted to name my system as a person with DID so i probably wouldnt give randall a system name ^^;; im fine with people calling it whatever they want though!

and im totally ok with yume/kin/id/etc with my characters! its an honor that anyone would feel so strongly for my characters and i just want people to have fun >w< !
