ϟ ░┊ A few headcanons involving names:

“ Lightning ” is a replacement for her whole birth name, not just her first ( i.e. she would never call herself Lightning Farron. It’s either Lightning or Claire Farron. ) But neither she or I, the mun, will ever correct you on this if used in a thread since it’s easily confused.

In post-xiii and post-lr verses, being called her birth name doesn’t bother her anymore, but she still strongly prefers to go by Lightning and keep her birth name private. 

ONLY a few people she’s very close with can get away with calling her Claire, and only once in a while / on special occasions.

When she absolutely HAS to sign her legal name, she always signs it C. Farron.

She hasn’t legally changed her name and has no plans to. It feels disrespectful to her late parents, who only ever knew her as Claire.

Her nickname “ Light ” carries a completely different connotation in her mind; something softer and gentler. If she asks you to call her by that name, it means she has a lot of respect for and trust in you.

     He winces, and she can’t help but freeze up for a half-second, worried it had been one of her own movements that caused him pain. “ Easy, ” she repeats, gently placing one hand on his shoulder. “ Just try and stay still, alright ? This will only take a minute. ”

     Lightning, having every intention of keeping that promise, gets to bandaging the worst of his injury as swiftly as she’s able. “ It’s no bother. I’ve taken my share of spills out in the field before -- - happens to the best of us. ” She offers up a small smile, hoping it might put him at ease. “ This is just a temporary patch-up, by the way. You’ll have to get it properly looked at later ... I just want to get us out of the open. Fast. ”
