As I over heard the woman beside me in the airport talking to her personnel, I instinctively reflect on how my aunt talks to her people. They're both business owners, both women, both Chinese, educated, well off, and smart. But there's just something different. It's the tone of a leader, not of a dictator. My aunt was always genuinely grateful to her employees, while the lady beside me was stressed out already (even blamed her employee before her supplier. That reflects on what type of a boss you are).
My aunt was operating in the position of a leader. So, for future leaders and entrepreneurs, and I am also talking to myself, please always be grateful to your people. They have emotions like us, and good employees work well when they are led properly. We want to attract and hold on to good ones, lift up those who are struggling, and be discerning of who we let in. If they're less than what we're looking for, do not accept.
Be discerning who we accept, and be grateful to those whom we have chosen.
