ok so while i didn't have time before work to finish my post on the art displayed on the screen during mama i did deep dive a little on the donald duck drum that tucker plays as a part of the Draag National Auxiliary Band.

he posted this pic on instagram a couple days ago:

ever since i saw it at the show i wondered what connection donald duck has because nothing is on that stage as an accident.

so first i found the drum on reverb, mychem seems to have bought it 2 months ago and added their own blood spatter:

donald duck is hand drawn on it, it's one of a kind but it is from 1937.

i started doing some searching to figure out maybe how donald duck could be tied into the story here. we know that propaganda is being used as part of the performance and also that obviously this story has a central enemy? being his grand immortal dictator.

so i found out that donald duck was actually featured in a lot of ww2 anti-nazi propaganda:

and then also that russia tried to ban the film that these screenshots are talking about:

and considering the themes of the narrative here and also the resemblance of keposhka (the new language) to russian and other cyrillic alphabets/language, and the fact that in the (now-deleted) post that nate piekos, who created keposhka for the tour, wrote about creating the language, he says that gerard requested something that had the vibe of a language from the eastern bloc. i just thought that was also relevant.
