demon slayer AU where osomatsu & karamatsu are the newly instated flame and water pillars respectively. jyushimatsu is a breath of the beast user who travels with and is in charge of keeping tabs on ichimatsu, a demon. todomatsu is a tsuguko/successor and breath of flower user while choromatsu is part of the kakushi/cleanup crew.
wwii zombie au where zombie virus unleashed in Japan and everyone was convinced it was US biological warfare and kara and todo working in wartime factories and ichi and jyushi joining the military (jyushi being drafted out of pro base ball after ichi) and oso and choro going overseas diplomacy with their government worker father and all the boys trying to make it back home after zombie virus decimates the country lmao
i also wanted to write a snk au too where todo is military police, kara jyushi and oso are survey corps, and choro and ichi are garrison. the drama is that kara, jyushi, oso, and todo were all top ten but todo chose to leave the others to live in safety behind wall sina while choro and ichi had no choice but to join the garrison bc they’re not skilled enough for survery corps lmao
in harry potter au, kara would def be a ravenclaw lmao he’s such a nerd?? he’s like a bigger nerd than choro look @ the comedy ep where he was taking notes on iyami’s lesson and he actually used sticky notes to organize his fashion magazine lmao. so choro + kara in ravenclaw, ichi + todo in slytherin, oso in gryffindor, jyushi in hufflepuff lmaooo
omg i love how in the skit osomatsu leads the older bro trio and todomatsu leads the younger bro trio lmaooooo i need AU fic………. _(:3」∠)_ boss!oso and boss!todo pls
omg i love how in the skit osomatsu leads the older bro trio and todomatsu leads the younger bro trio lmaooooo i need AU fic.......... _(:3」∠)_ boss!oso and boss!todo pls
i wanna write a thing where kara & choro need to run some kind of overseas mafia errand for oso; they need choro’s skill set but his presence would be a red flag so he has to go as choromi lmaoooo
mafia!matsu inspired by this & this of @daematsu!!! there’s not much real shipping in this fic, just kinda set-up and prologue/narrative particularly centered around the second pic ♥ i’ve been meaning to write this forever, but recent events & new mafia!matsu art finally kicked me into gear. it got long... lolol sorry if it’s slow, but hopefully it’s at least somewhat enjoyable!!
Ichimatsu had ducked out for all of two minutes when the balcony door creaked open again. He tsked in annoyance, expecting to see one of Osomatsu’s meathead bodyguards when he twisted around. What he didn’t expect was Jyushimatsu. He looked just a little less chipper than when they’d parted ways on the crowded ballroom floor. He didn’t say anything at first, eyes darting around until they caught the slight tremor in Ichimatsu’s hands.
“Jyushimatsu.” Ichimatsu hastily turned back around, hiding the lighter and cigarette case that hadn’t been cooperating with him. “What are you doing,” he grumbled. It wasn’t as if his presence wasn’t welcome, but Jyushimatsu always showed up at the wrong place, wrong time.
...Well, maybe that was a little harsh. Ichimatsu set his aside personal grievances and might have even mumbled a ‘sorry’ if he could’ve only gotten a fucking cigarette out of the case.
Fuck it. He gave up as soon as the soft click of the door told him Jyushimatsu wasn’t leaving any time soon. The smoke probably wouldn’t have helped, but it would’ve at least given him something else to do, something else to think about.
Jyushimatsu sidled up to his silent brother, slowly like he was approaching a stray cat, until they were standing side by side at the railing. Jyushimatu inhaled, exhaled, and flailed his arms out over the edge. Ichimatsu watched him cautiously as if afraid he’d trip over.
“Nii-san.”
“Hm,” Ichimatsu grunted and stuffed his fists into the pockets of his jacket with their items clenched tightly between sweaty fingers.
“You didn’t wait for me.”
“Ah.” Ichimatsu’s skin prickled at the intensity of Jyushimatsu’s gaze. He was never any good at hiding things from the other, and this would eventually come out too. He didn’t feel like elaborating at the moment, though, not when his stomach was still rolling uncomfortably and the threat of bile in his throat was still far too real. He jerked aside abruptly. Jyushimatsu didn’t follow and instead continued to rock back and forth against the banister on his stomach.
Ichimatsu sighed under his breath, the sound laced with vexation, and dropped down on the first of the three or so steps separating the front of the balcony from the glass double doors in the back. The chatter of the crowd still reached them, still set him on edge, but he felt better without eyes and hands on him. God, he was fucking shit at socializing and even worse at evading unwanted attention.
“Nii-san?”
Ichimatsu coughed awkwardly at the verbal reminder that he had yet to say anything. “Uh, yeah. I just—needed a minute.” It wasn’t a far cry from the truth, but he wondered if Jyushimatsu would buy the white lie. White lie or not, he didn’t want to explain until the night was well behind them.
Out of force of habit, he raised his legs up until they were nestled against his chest, and he found his arms encircling them simultaneously. Choromatsu was sure to give him an earful if he caught him being a hermit at a party meant to strengthen mafia ties, but fuck Choromatsu. He hadn’t wanted to come to begin with. He shouldn’t have. His throat tightened unexpectedly, and he rested his forehead against his knees.
A few minutes passed like so before the quiet shuffle of footsteps told him Jyushimatsu had tired of his precarious balancing act. In a few seconds, there was a comforting warmth at his side, Jyushimatsu pressed flush against his left arm and humming some nonsensical, made-up tune. It comforted him, and he might have even dozed off to the sound if the door squeak didn’t have him stiffening up again.
They both craned their necks to see the interloper; both relaxed as soon as Choromatsu’s face appeared at the glass. He was balancing two plates on one arm and looking very unhappy.
“This is where I thought you two would be,” he muttered and clucked his disapproval even as he made to join them. “Ichimatsu, don’t just take a break by yourself. And don’t drag Jyushimatsu along with you.”
Ichimatsu scoffed and made to retort, but Jyushimatsu’s outburst cut him short. “Choromatsu nii-san! You brought snacks!”
Choromatsu gingerly settled down at Jyushimatsu’s left, squawking at the other’s impatience to relieve him of the food. “Most of the good stuff’s gone by now. But I didn’t see you two eating earlier, so…”
“Ichimatsu nii-san, look! Your favorite!”
Jyushimatsu thrust a plate of chicken wings in his face. Aside from the initial surprise that there even were chicken wings—he thought there’d only be fancy shit—he didn’t react much except to furrow his eyebrows and shift his face aside. “I’m not hungry,” he growled and slightly regretted the words coming out too aggressively. That didn’t stop Jyushimatsu from proffering the plate a second time before giving up. He set the platter gently between them and refocused his voracious appetite on his own helping of—whatever.
Ichimatsu couldn’t say he didn’t appreciate the company of another brother. He felt safer. But he could say goodbye to peace and quiet. Between Jyushimatsu’s noisy eating and Chormatsu’s—what the fuck. Had Choromatsu really sneaked out just to watch idol videos?
Ugh.
Some things never fucking changed.
If Choromatsu was here, Ichimatsu had the sinking feeling Todomatsu wouldn’t be far behind. They were supposed to be together, and there was no way Todomatsu was going to pick up Choromatsu’s slack without raising a fuss. Sure enough, Choromatsu’s second video had hardly started when the door sounded a third time, and only Choromatsu raised his head in surprise. He scrambled to dim the screen of his phone, but the song had just gotten to its loudest bit, full of unnecessary and ear-grating nyaa’s.
“Are you fucking kidding me, Choromatsu nii-san.” The expletive drew a snort out of Ichimatsu. It looked like the third-born had riled up the youngest, but that was hardly uncommon. Todomatsu’s indignant footsteps moodily stomped over. Jyushimatsu greeted him with an enthusiastic “Totty!” though the syllables were greatly distorted by whatever he’d just scooped into his mouth.
“Eugh, Jyushimatsu nii-san, please don’t talk with your mouth full.” Todomatsu stopped at Choromatsu’s backside, embarrassment high on the latter’s cheeks. Totty tapped his foot impatiently. “Choromatsu nii-san...” he hummed warningly.
Choromatsu straightened and cleared his throat. “I—” Whatever explanation he’d been planning ended in sputtering when he looked behind him. “Y-You’re one to talk! You’re on your phone too!”
“Well, I’m not going to talk to those brutes if you’re not,” Totty whined in return and, much to Ichimatsu’s consternation, turned his attention onto him. He heard Todomatsu’s light footfalls near where he was still curled into himself, heart-thumping anxiety having died down some. “Ichimatsu nii-san.”
“What,” Ichimatsu groused. Instead of an answer, he got Todomatsu sitting beside him, Todomatsu gently but deliberately loosening the hands laced around his legs, Todomatsu pulling one out and then the other until he was back in a relatively normal sitting position. He went along with it more so out of confusion than anything else, Todomatsu’s actions completely baffling until the other laid his head square in Ichimatsu’s lap with a pleased expression on his face.
“Hmm,” he crooned. “Ichimatsu nii-san’s lap really does make the best pillow.” He wasn’t even looking at said “pillow” as he said it, attention back on the phone he’d raised between their faces.
Ichimatsu’s eyebrow twitched. “Todomatsu.”
Before he could throw the boy off, Osomatsu’s loud voice caused them all to jump. “So, this is where you guys were hiding!”
Ichimatsu tsked once more, but he couldn’t deny how much lighter he was feeling now compared to earlier. They hadn’t really been gathered together like this for a long time... This whole thing must have really been fucking with him if he was starting to think sentimental shit like that. Todomatsu forgotten, Ichimatsu swiveled his head around to sullenly greet the mafioso. At least one of them was having fun.
Osomatsu’s white tie hung loose around his neck, mostly undone, and even in the dim lighting he could see the wrinkles in the jacket draped across his shoulders. The strong smell of whiskey and cigarette smoke wafted over them as soon as he stepped across the threshold, Ichimatsu crinkling his nose slightly and then returning to stoicism as soon as he saw who was behind him. Karamatsu always managed to be gaudy even when they were all wearing the same outfit, minus the few extra buttons undone to show off his chest and chain. Painful.
“Heh, brothers, were we stealing away to enjoy this beautiful night that—”
“I don’t need you here.” Osomatsu had given his backside to them, addressing the group of three or four hulking men clustered around the door. “I’m with my brothers. I’ll be fine.”
“But Boss—”
Osomatsu waved his hand dismissively. “You heard what I said. Get lost. I’ll call you when I need you.”
The bodyguards exchanged looks with one another, shifted uncomfortably where they stood, and finally began to dissipate.
“Oi, not you, dumbass.” Osomatsu’s fingers snagged in the back of Karamatsu’s collar as he’d started following the crowd.
“E-Eh?”
Osomatsu dragged him to where the rest of them were and stopped by Todomatsu’s outstretched legs.
“So? What were we gossiping about? Don’t keep onii-chan out of the loop.” Osomatsu finished with a snicker, rubbing the underside of his nose as Karamatsu fussed with his clothes.
“Choromatsu nii-san was watching idol videos instead of doing his job,” Todomatsu immediately stated. His eyes never left the screen of his phone, but Ichimatsu caught the impish upward curve of his lips.
“I-I was not!” Choromatsu blustered and hastily moved to change the topic before Osomatsu could jump on him for his lingering obsessions. “A-And anyway, you came to find us because it’s almost time, right?”
Ichimatsu bolted upright. Todomatsu raised an eyebrow at the sudden shift in his resting post. Almost time. He hadn’t realized how long they’d been out here. It couldn’t have been that long, could it? His stomach seized up, and he was glad he hadn’t eaten anything or else it would’ve all come back out again just about now.
“Hmm, yeah. But there’s been a change of plans.”
“Change of plans?” Choromatsu narrowed his eyes to suspicious slits. “What do you mean change of—”
“All I need is Jyushimatsu.” Osomatsu clapped the aforementioned on the shoulder. “Ichimatsu, Karamatsu. I’ve got an errand for you guys to run at the harbor.”
“O-Osomatsu...?” Karamatsu’s surprise spread through the rest of them like a wave. Todomatsu came next. He raised himself off Ichimatsu’s legs hesitantly, but there was reproach in his voice when he spoke up.
“What do you mean you only need Jyushimatsu nii-san? I thought we were—”
“Todomatsu, Choromatsu, you guys take care of closing down this snoozefest in the meantime.”
“Now, hold on.” Choromatsu stood up, mouth forming its characteristic pointed frown as he stalked over to Osomatsu’s position. “Osomatsu nii-san, you can’t just go deciding to change things on your own!”
“Mmm.” Osomatsu cocked his head to the side and crossed his arms over his chest in faux contemplation. “Yeah, I can, because last time I checked, I’m still mob boss.”
Osomatsu’s subsequent smirk shut Choromatsu down. The younger’s teeth went to worry at his lower lip as Osomatsu’s attention returned to his impromptu partner.
“Well, how about it, Jyushimatsu? You ready, buddy?”
“Hup, hup!” Jyushimatsu launched himself off the steps with all the energy of a freight train and assumed his usual catchphrase pose, the only one seemingly unfazed by the sudden request. “Hustle, hustle! Muscle, muscle!”
Osomatsu grinned and took that as a yes. He looked to the youngest next, eyes rolling around in his head for a moment as if unsure what to say. “Actually,” he started, “Todomatsu, you can handle this crowd on your own, right?”
Todomatsu couldn’t get a word in edgewise before Osomatsu was pivoting expectantly toward Choromatsu. “Might be better if Choromatsu tags along with those two. I’ve already sent the details to you. Debrief them on the way over, yeah?”
“Al-Alright.” Choromatsu’s stunned grimace had already turned into grudging compliance.
“W-Wait.” Ichimatsu stumbled to his feet, swaying a little where he stood despite the fact he’d only been drinking soda all evening. “I—”
Ichimatsu gulped, the implications of what he was about to say sitting heavily in his stomach. He was trash, disgusting, unburnable trash, so he supposed it didn’t matter if someone like him got used up and thrown out. It was better, in fact, especially if it could help the business—and his family. Even so, his mouth went dry all of a sudden, words sticking in his throat.
“I—” Come on, Ichimatsu. Osomatsu did it all the time, didn’t he?
“Ichimatsu nii-san—”
“Jyushimatsu, shut up.” Ichimatsu regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth, a little horrified that he’d said them. They could be rough with one another sometimes, and they often were, but Ichimatsu rarely spoke to the younger like that, all unbridled frustration and disdain. He meant it though. He didn’t want to hear what Jyushimatsu had to say; he didn’t even want to hear what he had to say.
Osomatsu must have picked up on the sentiment; he always did. He could be surprisingly perceptive sometimes, the idiot. As soon as his brother’s hand clapped his back, Ichimatsu relaxed, gaze snapping up to meet the other’s reassuring, lopsided grin.
“Don’t worry about a thing, little brother.” Osomatsu brushed his finger under his nose. “Onii-chan’s got it under control.” That single action absolved Ichimatsu of all responsibility, and Ichimatsu was despicable enough to feel relieved. He ducked his head and nodded.
“Shittymatsu,” he muttered, jerking his head toward the exit and leaving first.
“I-Ichimatsu!” Choromatsu hastened to follow suit, but he had time enough to shoot Osomatsu another ‘what exactly are you thinking’ look before disappearing into the fray. He left the door ajar, and all the party noise could be heard now.
“Ahhh, enough!” Todomatsu stood up, pouting. “I don’t even want to know what you’re up to anymore.” He pointed an index finger in Osomatsu’s direction. “But you better not be planning something idiotic.”
Osomatsu feigned offense, hand going to his chest in fake hurt as if to say, ‘Me?’
“Ugh.” Todomatsu fixed his outfit and smoothed down the wrinkles in his pants while rolling his sleeves up his forearms. “Just... be careful.” He spared a glance at Karamatsu; then he was gone too, leaving the three of them in momentary silence.
“Well,” Osomatsu broke the tension first. “Jyushimatsu, let’s get—”
“Osomatsu.” Karamatsu’s fingers found their way to Osomatsu’s wrist. “You’re not... are you...?” He sounded so much like a kicked puppy at the moment that Osomatsu almost felt bad for instilling any doubt. Rather than shaking him off, he returned the gesture, fingers twining briefly before he raised both hands behind his neck and rocked back on his heels.
“Ehh, you know I’m too tired for that even if I wanted.” Osomatsu remembered very well how Karamatsu had reacted last time.
“Karamatsu nii-san, you should go or else Choromatsu nii-san and Ichimatsu nii-san are going to leave you behind.”
“Ah.” Karamatsu shook himself out of his stupor and took a step back. “O-Of course. You’re right, my little Jyushimatsu. Heh, I’ll be going then.”
He still couldn’t help chancing a glance behind him, though, to which Osomatsu only returned with a lackadaisical hand wave that seemed to say, ‘Go, go.’
He waited until Karamatsu had completely withdrawn before turning to Jyushimatsu. As if on cue, the younger produced a bat out of seemingly nowhere. “Jyushimatsu, you know what to do, right?” A predatory grin loosed on Osomatsu’s features, Jyushimatsu mimicking it shortly.
“Yup! Anyone who hurts Ichimatsu nii-san gets the batting cage!”
Jyushimatsu followed closely at his side, manic energy nearly contagious, but he did his best to tamp it down as they neared their destination. It was blatantly obvious which room it was even without the excessive security. Osomatsu stopped before the ornate door, probably hand-carved, with a whistle.
“Yes?” The guard to the left groused.
“Here for a meeting.” Osomatsu didn’t skip a beat, undaunted by the display of height and brawn before him. Jyushimatsu could take care of them in five seconds flat.
“You’re late.”
“Well, you know what they say about royalty and arriving early.” Osomatsu’s cheeky grin didn’t seem to do anything for the guard’s sour attitude. He merely grunted to his associate, and the door opened onto a large and lavish study. Osomatsu whistled a second time, made to step inside, but a hand abruptly shot out to stop him. Osomatsu felt Jyushimatsu tense at his side, a coil ready to spring.
“Matsuno Osomatsu.” The old man at the desk on the far wall stood, grey hair slicked back to give him an almost youthful appearance. “So good to have you join me.”
Osomatsu didn’t miss the undertone of sarcasm, but this wasn’t exactly the time to return it. He offered his best grin, which unintentionally came out as more of a smirk, and rubbed the underside of his nose with one hand while his other went to rest at his hip. The jacket shifted around his shoulders and threatened to fall before Jyushimatsu helpfully readjusted it behind him.
“Did you miss me?”
“Hmm.” The mobster rounded his desk, fingers trailing along the edge. “I’m afraid I’ll have to have my men check both of you for firearms.”
“You don’t trust me?” Osomatsu cocked an eyebrow and raised his arms as the man who’d stopped him stepped closer.
“Just a precaution,” the other clarified. “Nothing personal.”
Nothing personal, eh? Osomatsu played along, letting the guard feel him up. “Oi, oi, watch the family jewels,” he exclaimed, and the man’s hand hovering over his crotch dropped.
“He’s good.”
Osomatsu gave the other a tight smile before striding into the room. He fixed his jacket again as he went, meeting the elder mob boss at his desk in a few seconds. Before he could say anything, another bodyguard growled, and they both craned their necks to see what was happening.
“Boss, this one won’t let go of the bat.”
“Oh, that?” Osomatsu laughed and leaned closer to the spindly gangster. He cupped a hand around his mouth like he was sharing a secret, voice dropping. “Don’t know if you’ve heard, but my little brother isn’t exactly... all there, if you know what I mean. See those eyes? Crazy eyes, right? Take the stick away from him, and he goes a little... ballistic. I mean.” Osomatsu leaned back, catching the older man’s gaze with a challenging smirk. “You’re not afraid of a bat, are you?”
The other’s gaze narrowed ever so slightly. He didn’t break eye contact as he asked, “Is he carrying anything else?”
Some rustling. “No, aside from that, he’s clean.”
“Then let him in.” The mobster’s grin widened, mockingly kind. “We have to be accommodating to our guests.”
“Appreciate it,” Osomatsu returned, breaking the stare down to watch Jyushimatsu bounce into the room. The door swung shut, and there was just the barely perceptible sound of a lock clicking into place. Osomatsu did a quick count. There were ten people in the room, not including the two out front. He liked those odds.
“Now,” he drawled. “Would you mind returning the favor of spreading your legs?”
Osomatsu pivoted, and this time the emotion on his senior’s face was genuine. Indignation soon won out, and a sneer curled his lips. “Pardon?”
“Just a precaution.” Osomatsu spat his words back at him with relish. “Nothing personal.” Osomatsu tilted his head to the side to regard Jyushimatsu out of the corner of his eye. “Jyushimatsu, check the others.”
“Roger!”
The aging gangster let out a breath of amusement before he complied. It took a couple more minutes than they did, given the amount of people Jyushimatsu had to pat down, but once the yellow Matsu gave his enthusiastic “all clear,” Osomatsu felt himself relax.
“Satisfied?”
“Of course.” Osomatsu grinned, stepping over to the couch and coffee table laid out in the middle of the room. “Let’s talk business.”
More than an hour had passed. The room was now hazy with cigar smoke, and the halting laughter of the two mafiosos as they went between filling out paperwork and boozing. The pages were scattered all over the wooden surface, some threatening to spill over the edge.
“You know, Matsuno, you’re alright.”
“Oh?” Osomatsu scoffed, reaching across the table to poor his temporary friend another glass of gin. They switched to whiskey after the sake went cold then to gin and probably vodka next if they got that far. Osomatsu unwound into the cushions, puffing out smoke like a furnace, and absentmindedly tightened his tie as he took yet another drag. “Took you long enough to realize.”
A laugh roared through the other, wrinkles shifting across his face. “It seems I’ve made a hasty judgement on your character, Matsuno!”
He took a pull on his own fat cancer stick, and a beat of silence fell over the room. The friendly atmosphere disappeared soon after, the man’s lingering chuckles dying down to nothing. Osomatsu decided to pour himself yet another gin. It’d be a pity to waste such good gin.
“Say, Matsuno.”
Osomatsu grabbed his glass by the rim, the rings on his fingers clinking noisily in the process. “Hm?”
“I’m sure you know there’s one more condition to us working together.”
Osomatsu felt Jyushimatsu stiffen at his backside. Osomatsu threw his arm over the couch, wrist knocking into Jyushimatsu’s and sloshing gin onto his sleeve. “Yeah?” he asked and blew lazy smoke circles in his counterpart’s direction.
“Ha.” The man waved away the pollution in his face, refocusing his gaze on the younger with sudden humorlessness. “Yeah.” He let that word hang there like it contained all the information Osomatsu needed.
Osomatsu rolled his shoulders, knew the darkening expression on Jyushimatsu’s face without even looking, and smiled. His hand with the gin returned to his mouth, sloppily pouring the rest of the contents down his throat. He waited until the burn, more of a tingle at this point, subsided before saying, “We’re identical, you know.”
“Please.” The mob boss snorted. He brought the cigar to wave emphatically in the space separating them. “You give yourselves too little credit. I’ve seen firsthand what you sextuplets are capable of, and I must say, I’m impressed. Each of you is wonderfully unique.” He paused, grabbing the gin bottle that Osomatsu had emptied.
“Vodka,” he said offhandedly to one of the men standing behind him. The beckoned hurriedly moved to the other side of the room.
“So,” he continued. “I’m quite attached to Ichimatsu-kun, you see. That shouldn’t be a problem?”
There it was. Osomatsu dropped his glass onto the coffee table and probably left a wet imprint on one of the documents. Not that he cared at this point.
“Ohh, so you want my little brother Ichimatsu’s body?” he said plainly, feeling no need to sugarcoat now that the other had put the final nail in his coffin. He smiled, the gesture more genuine than any of the others he’d been throwing around all evening. “I did think you were ogling him quite a lot at the party.” Osomatsu jerked his thumb behind him. “So I brought this guy just in case.”
He brought the smoking cigar to his lips, worn down to a stub. “I was hoping I was wrong, though, for your own sake...”
Too bad, Osomatsu thought before the shuffling on the other side of his couch finally caught his attention.
“Nee, Osomatsu nii-san.”
“Hm?” Osomatsu twisted his head around to regard his brother, leaving the mob boss opposite him to stew in dumbfounded indignation. “What is it, Jyushimatsu?”
“Can I kill them?”
Stunned silence seemed to fall over everyone except them as they conversed easily. Jyushimatsu bounced on the balls of his feet, overeager like a puppy even as the killing intent started leaking into his eyes.
“Yep, they’re all yours.”
Jyushimatsu’s ever present grin disappeared in an instant.
“W-What the fuck—!”
Jyushimatsu leaped across the room to the first person who reacted. A sickening crack and thud later, Jyushimatsu had drawn his first blood of the night. Then all hell broke loose.
“W-Wait, this isn’t what we negotiated, Matsuno!”
The old man’s dull roar was drowned out by the cacophony of groans, moans, shattering of a lamp, splintering of a chair, and useless punches being thrown around in addition to Jyushimatsu’s methodical work rhythm. Crack. Crack. Crack.
Jyushimatsu smashed in the skull of someone who’d lunged at Osomatsu as naturally as if he really was playing baseball. Osomatsu tottered to his feet.
“Whoops.” The remnants of his cigar scattered across the Persian carpet, and some of the ashes even got on his favorite red shirt. He tsked. “Sorry ‘bout that.”
He moved between the couch and the table, slipping his phone out of his pocket just as he heard a familiar voice cry out, “D-Don’t come near me, you monster...!”
Osomatsu staggered toward the window on the left side of the room, and it took him a couple of tries to get Choromatsu’s speed-dial. It rang twice.
“Hello?” he slurred, wondering if his brother could hear the screams behind him. “Hey, Choromatsu!” With a drunken hiccough, Osomatsu slammed into the glass pane. He tried to stifle the giggles, but they slipped out anyway. “I think we might need to get Jyushimatsu a new baseball bat, hehe.”
The orders were clear. Once Osomatsu had made a decision, not even Karamatsu could contest it. From the low growl Ichimatsu emitted in the corner, though, the younger wasn’t happy about it. Jyushimatsu’s enthusiasm remained unchanged, exercise ball bouncing happily beneath him as he revved to go. The only other person who’d yet to react was Todomatsu, but judging by the expression on Osomatsu’s face, Karamatsu could guess what sort of disgruntled pout Todomatsu was making. The unspoken I wouldn’t ask this of you if it wasn’t the only way remained unspoken as Totty finally responded before Osomatsu could.
“Alright,” he said simply and quickly added, “But you owe me, nii-san.”
Osomatsu’s face immediately split into his usual shit-eating grin, and his posture relaxed substantially. Karamatsu let out a breath he hadn’t even known he’d been holding, flashing Ichimatsu a hopeful smile that the other pointedly ignored. The gun he’d been maintaining clattered to the surface of the mahogany table, and he pushed out of his seat without another word. No one stopped him; only Jyushimatsu’s bark of “nii-san” deterred him in any way. He tripped over an upturned edge of the carpet but didn’t stop. The slam of the door was as good a marker of Ichimatsu’s displeasure as actual words.
“He’s just worried.” Karamatsu’s obvious statement went ignored as Osomatsu sighed and kicked his feet up onto the edge of his desk. He crossed his legs at the ankles and leaned far back enough that Karamatsu was worried he’d tip over. His lackadaisical attitude couldn’t hide the sliver of tension lining his face. Todomatsu hadn’t seemed to have missed it either but must have figured there wasn’t any point in drawing attention to it. The sooner they went, the sooner they got back, and the sooner this little... issue could be swept under the rug.
“Come on, Jyushimatsu nii-san.” Todomatsu slipped his hand into his trousers out of habit, groping for the phone that wasn’t there. A slight frown creased his brow when he realized his mistake, but his tone remained lighthearted. Jyushimatsu launched himself off his inflatable toy as soon as Todomatsu passed him with an energetic, “Hustle, hustle! Muscle, muscle! We’ll be back, Osomatsu nii-san!”
Jyushimatsu had already run out the door, no doubt in search of Ichimatsu, but Todomatsu suddenly slowed when he neared Karamatsu’s chair. Karamatsu perked up immediately, affecting his usual elaborate bravado that couldn’t quite mask the twinge of pain in his shoulder. Todomatsu’s bright eyes picked up the jerk in his sling, and he sighed.
“Karamatsu nii-san, are you sure you’re okay?”
Karamatsu blinked before his lips split into an exaggerated smile. He thought he heard Osomatsu scoffing in the background but saw the older’s lips quirk up all the same. “Heh,” Karamatsu started and flipped through the fringe of his hair with dramatic flair. “A small injury such as this could never keep down yours truly. Fear not, my brother.”
Todomatsu was moving on as soon as the heh had left his mouth. “Yeah,” he returned with exasperated relief. “You’re fine.”
“Totty.”
Osomatsu’s sudden interjection caused the youngest to pause with his hand on the frame, door ajar from Jyushimatsu’s ecstatic exit. “Hm?”
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t.”
The hint of anxiety in Todomatsu’s eyes faded instantly, and he hummed skeptically. “Anything you wouldn’t? That’s not very good advice.” He turned away and made to leave. “But thanks.”
A breeze blew in from the open window to coincide with the gentle clicking of the door, and Karamatsu couldn’t help furrowing his thick eyebrows at the way Osomatsu seemed to deflate. He struggled for a moment to get out of his chair, but in the next he was striding across the room and offering a smoke to their beleaguered boss. Responsibility had never quite suited their reckless eldest.
Osomatsu took it without further prompting, and Karamatsu slipped his good hand into the front pocket of his jacket for the lighter. He couldn’t do much in his state, but he could at least do this. No matter how many people Osomatsu had crossed to get where they were, he’d never lost the crippling soft spot for his brothers.
“Where’s Choromatsu,” he asked quietly, the sound just a whisper in the cavernous study, as the end of his cigarette sparked to life. Karamatsu stepped back. His feet crunched broken glass and carefully evaded fallen bookshelves. He went to the window, glass pane long shot to hell, and caught sight of Choromatsu on the perimeters of the ransacked mansion.
“He’s there,” Karamatsu answered, turning his head over his shoulder to regard Osomatsu once more. “I’ll go swap with him.”
He hadn’t even taken two steps in the direction of the exit when Osomatsu’s voice arrested his progress.
“Oi, Karamatsu.”
“Yes, Brother?”
Silence fell over them, interrupted only by the wild flapping of the curtains as another strong gust of wind swept into the room.
“Do you think—”
“I think we should focus on the task at hand.” Karamatsu’s serious tenor caught Osomatsu off guard. His head snapped up from where it’d hung against his bloodstained dress shirt, but the fabric was so red to begin with it was hard to tell. Karamatsu didn’t let the momentary visual distraction deter him from what he wanted to say. “Todomatsu and Jyushimatsu are good at what they do. They’ll be fine.”
They always were, and he was sure even in their current situation, that fact wouldn’t change. Either way, it was unavoidable. Osomatsu had gotten over the emotional speed bump of sending his brothers into the thick of danger a long time ago. But it looked like he was due for a little reminder. Karamatsu couldn’t tell whether he’d made a difference, though, as Osomatsu’s face fell into unreadable blankness. For the sake of time, he decided to assume he had.
“I’ll send Choromatsu in.”
Karamatsu didn’t wait for a reply before leaving the room. He took a breath to steady the tremor in his hand, stepped over the corpse of one of their security personnel lying before the threshold, and went to fetch the third-born.
i rly wanna write it lmao specifically a one shot-ish idea where oso kara jyushi are alphas and ichi todo are omegas and choro is beta and they are all usually on suppressants except when they have a cold/fever bc side effects and guess who catches the flu just at the onset of their heat lmao (it ichi) SO concerned mama matsu ushers the alphas out of the house by giving them her reservations to a hotel-onsen that she & papa matsu were going to vacation at but it’s not like they can now w/ mama matsu wanting to take care of ichi all fucked up w/ flu + heat (and ofc papa matsu is v disgruntled but ok) and it will give heat!ichi some relief w/o 3 alphas in the house (and relief to the alphas not having to be around a bro in full heat w/o suppressants) but ofc oso whines about it bc oso and like u don’t trust us???? and mama matsu is like lol do u want me to be honest and shuts oso down lmao ANYWAY oso kara jyushi is off while totty & choro charged with helping ichi ride thru his flu-heat and
cue ichi/todo & oso/kara smut :3c
ichi being all fucked up at night during the peak of his heat and totty going to check on him and being like wow…. nii-san is so fucked up but also i kinda see why oso nii always calls him cute anyway maybe i should snap a few pics of his horny/blushy face for blackmail :3c and ichi waking up like fUCK i can’t take it anymore u have to help me lol and todo being like wtf???? don’t b fucking gross??? and ichi like lmao i know what u do w/ shittymatsu on the sly don’t b all high & mighty @ me now and todo is like _(:3 」∠)_ his plan backfires and the blackmailer becomes the blackmailee lmao
ON THE ALPHA SIDE
oso being all agitated ever since leaving the house bc it’s the first time he’s been around a bro who’s in full heat mode w/o suppressants in a while and he’s not good at controlling himself ofc and like maybe he should feel guilty about feeling this way towards his lil bro but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ NIGHT FALLS cue jyushi spending an ungodly amount of time in the hot spring and oso takes the opportunity to jump kara bc he’s ALL WORKED UP AND HORNY and settles for kara and like c'mon kara i know you’ve been feeling just as fucky bc ichi’s heat don’t pretend onii-chan knows everything and ofc kara vehemently denies it but his body can tell no lies lmaooooooo
