Why must CMHA continue to withhold the Video? Releasing the video shows their desire for Transparency. Instead, by not releasing it they show they have no concern for the family of Arthur Keith, nor the Community. #TisTheSeason  #GivingTuesday Today is Giving Tuesday!!    Black Lives Matter Cleveland it's asking everyone who can, and will to donate this  #GivingTuesday to support Black Lives Matter Cleveland, in our fundraising efforts. This year has been hard for a lot of reasons. The Covid-19 pandemic for one has changed the ways we engage with the community. Regardless of the changes to the new norms of life, there is still work being done locally. As grassroot organizers, we have learned that in order to change the system, we have to change it at the local level. We are living in a time where we can not depend on the federal levels of government, or the people we put in positions of power to change the laws to actually benefit the people they serve.  We have to organize ourselves and our communities and return the power back to the people. Under the presidency of Donald Trump; Black Lives Matter Organizers, and Members have come under attack, white supremacy has tried to label BLM organizers as a terrorist organization. Movement organizers have been killed while standing up for what’s right. Supporters and allies of the movement have been murdered by vigilante white pro-police supporters. This type of political manhunt in the past, and in the present; has led to the death and imprisonment of hundreds of Black Revolutionary Liberator's seeking to change the American political power structure. We are challenging the system, and we need your continued support. Black Lives Matter Cleveland is dedicated to challenging the status quo, and changing the laws of this land, so that they work to protect the people who are most impacted by white supremacy and police brutality. Which has led us to opening up our own office right here in Cleveland. We'd like to begin by lifting up the name of Arthur Keith, this loving 18 year old was a young man balancing having a social life and always having time to love and be there for his family and everyone who knew him ………...but police would like to define him by this one moment where he is alleged to have been a danger. It is becoming quite apparent that around the country police when fearful say that they saw a gun pointed at them or fast movement with a gun in order to justify murder. Allegedly seeing this young man with a gun is not a presumed crime in an open carry state. And we find it unfathomable that anyone points a gun at an officer but never shoots knowing that it will guarantee lethal force from that officer. Police are human and they lie and in this incident the contradictions abound as residents tell a different story than police and in fact evidence tells a different story than police as the young man had multiple gunshot wounds entering from behind indicating that a man who up to this point committed no crime was fleeing, which is a far different story than the one told by cops to the media. Also what is questionable is whether law enforcement made a genuine effort to save this young man's life as reports vary on this and at best only one officer was attempting to apply pressure to the multiple gunshot wounds. Again here is what we know... a young man who was running away was considered a threat and was shot and murdered while running away. We know that he was shot by an employee of CMHA which has personnel impersonating law enforcement because to be law enforcement you must undergo state mandated training which CMHA does not and as a result people die. We would like for members of City Council to launch an investigation into the legitimacy of the officers and to create legislation requiring more and better training.
