What I think The Paladins' classifications would be in the omegaverse.
I made this post on my side blog, so I'm going to post it on all of my blogs lol
Also do I need to tag this as spoilers if it's a fandom that's like a decade old and very dead??
Alpha
He's literally the leader.
Also, I can see the argument being made that he's too nice.
However, I think that Alphas being inherently mean and violent is a harmful stereotype.
He's in charge, and he's able to keep a level head even when the team is doing shit that is completely unreasonable.
He's also able to wrangle Keith even though he was literally a problem child from the second that Shiro takes him in.
These are both Beta and Omega traits respectively.
However, I think it's the owner analogy all over again.
The owner of a restaurant or business has to be good at all of the jobs that their employees do.
The leader has to be good at all of the jobs or roles that their pack does or does not fill.
This means that he has to be at least decent at wrangling children, and he has to be able to keep his packmates calm.
Along with that, leaders have to be able to keep their team calm in order to get them to listen to begin with, but they also need to be able to work with almost anyone. This includes children.
This is part of what makes him such a good diplomat.
Hunk
Omega
To be honest with you, I started writing him in as a beta, but the more in-depth I got with it, the more I started to realize that he's lowkey an omega.
I know, I don't like it either.
Hear me out, though, because I've accidentally convinced myself and I can't unsee it.
Because of the few instances in which he is put in charge or takes charge of situations, (Space Mall, Shay, the episode where they need to protect the planet from radiation, etc.) people might argue that he's an alpha.
This is partially caused by the fact that he's one of the defenders of the universe and needs to be able to take charge in dire circumstances.
This is also due to the fact that he's asked to take charge because it's his expertise.
But really think about it.
Omegas aren't known for being in charge at all. They're stereotyped for being submissive and weak.
But think about what role they really fill in a pack. They're typically the ones that take care of the pups.
Do you really think someone who's THAT submissive would be able to take care of children?
Think about the "Mom Voice"
When someone uses it, the people around them are expected to listen.
Mom voice. Omegas are mothers.
So, with that logic, Hunk works as an Omega.
He takes charge when he needs to, and he doesn't struggle, because in a way, he is expected to be able to do that. He's just not as mean about it as Keith and not as effective as Shiro.
But the team is going to listen to him because he's an omega, plus he has a working support system.
(Genuinely I hate this so much, but I legitimately can't justify him being a beta or alpha. Sure, he's calm, but he really doesn't keep his team in check, nor is he, himself, levelheaded. He's also not aggressive or stern enough to be an alpha except for in one isolated incident. I rewrote this like 4 times.)
Lance
Beta
Yeah, I know.
You know how he has all of those self-worth issues, and he talks about how everyone has a thing except for him?
Yeah, now imagine if he was also a beta.
He's super insecure about it and never talks about it unless someone is asking him directly and he can't figure out how to get out of it.
But also, look at how he interacts with Keith when Shiro has gone missing.
The situation gets out of hand when Keith almost gets like half of their team killed.
Lance goes to him and calms him down. He doesn't take charge of the situation. He only defuses it.
That's beta behavior right there.
Also, when he's all heartbroken about Allura and Lotor, he says "I'm nothing special, I'm just a boy from Cuba." (Paraphrased)
Now replace "boy from Cuba" with "beta."
It works.
I have seen people classify him as an omega, but I think that might partially be because they're shipping him with Keith, who is classified as an alpha (and vice versa)
However, he stays WAY too calm to be classified as an omega.
He stays calm enough to be the team's sharpshooter. That requires a lot of focus in life-or-death situations.
Sure, he has a few habits that an omega would, but I think he's just bisexual lol.
Keith
Alpha
I know I JUST talked about people classifying him as an alpha but listen.
He's angry and has a hard time controlling his emotions (See: Kolivan's dialogue in season 5, episode 5)
Lance also says that he'll "shoot first and ask questions later"
So, Beta is definitely off of the table, because he's not really levelheaded at all, nor is he good at defusing situations.
He's also put in the leader position for a while.
An argument can be made for Omega.
However, he doesn't really like being told what to do. It's shown at the Garrison. He only listens to Shiro because of what he's done for him.
He's a really bad leader when they start him on the black lion, but he has no leadership experience.
On top of that, he's a teenage boy with some severe abandonment issues. Shiro, who is the only other black paladin, is in his 20's.
He doesn't have the leadership skills he would've learned if he was in a pack, because he wasn't in a pack until Shiro got him.
At that point Keith is so fucked up that Shiro can only do so much lol
He starts to mellow out in season 6 because he's actually getting the experience he should've gotten from the beginning.
Pidge
Beta
She's definitely not submissive in any sense of the word.
Pidge is extremely smart, and she's aware of it.
She also doesn't typically take on a leadership role.
She mostly listens to what the members of her team tell her with little to no protest.
However, this can change when her family gets involved.
She gets really upset when they're trying to bond and get her to focus because she's more focused on Matt.
Other than this, she stays very calm.
Even in serious situations, she hardly panics. She gets more frustrated than anything.
When Shiro freaks out in season 6, she just pulls him back to the panel so he can help her.
Some people might argue that she can be an omega because of how the team treats her, but I don't think that works.
Sure, when she gets upset, the team is willing to drop what they're doing, but I don't think it's because of the fact that she's an omega.
I think that they do this because she's physically the weakest, the smallest, and she's also the youngest. I would make an argument that they might do this because for a while she was the only girl paladin, but they don't know that initially and they still treat her this way.
I know this is written like hot shit. I'm sorry.
then again, what did you expect? It's an omegaverse post.
This is also my first actual post on this account. Yikes.
Also! I know that Klance would be an AlphaxBeta ship. I'm not writing it in to be "thought to be beta, but dommed so hard he presents as an omega."
Betas get no rep in the omegaverse fandom istg (< coming from a beta)
(does that count as a fandom??)
