I feel like there is a difference when it comes your opinion on The Character vs on Them as a character.

Let me use Zenix from MCD as an example for this.

I absolutely HATE Zenix the character, but I love LOVE Zenix as a character.

He's a stupid little piss baby traitor who I despise to my very core, but please put him on my screen again I love every drop of content of him in the depth of my bones

Sasha and Kenmur are happily engaged until she dies tragically.

Lord Joh is brutally murdered. His husband steps up to take his place while a special election is held.

Cadenza, a beloved community member disappears. A ransom demand is made. "Go to Hell." Laurance and Aphmau heed the call.

Laurance doesn't come home. The village's head guard and favorite son is dead and gone, just like Sasha.

He claws his way out of the grave and transfers to the next village over. Cadenza moves there too to learn independence.

The acting lord, Hayden, is also brutally murdered and Cadenza is kidnapped. By some miracle, they both come home.

The village is burned to the ground as an act of war by O'Khasis.
