$1.5k is cheap rent in Austin right now. Which is so fucking sad. Austin used to be so affordable and fun. Fully agree having your own laundry set up is a huge LUXURY !

the last time i saw an apartment for 1.5k in my area was in like 2017

Austin is an incredible success story. Their rents went up MASSIVELY 2010-2019 but then they added a metric crapton of new houses and apartments.

Austin’s rents went down (on average) from 2020-2025. Which is why an apartment with a separate laundry room is $1.5k — that’s 25% higher than the median rent!
