Hello! As you know, I am a staunch supporter of human rights. And as I know, most of you are too. That is why I am imploring your help. The Philippines needs a Mental Health Act. Here’s why:
Most companies in the Philippines do not cover mental health-related issues. What’s more horrifying is that there are only 0.05 psychiatrists per 100,000 people in the country when, according to the World Health Organization, worldwide, 1 in 4 people suffer from mental health problems. The Philippines has 450 million people living with depression - the highest number in Southeast Asia. Moreover, there is still a stigma that exists toward mental health issues.
It takes all of 3 minutes to sign this petition and be one step closer to a Mental Health Act established in our country. If you would rather bow out of signing the petition (which I would totally respect), the least you could do is to please, please, please reblog this post so that others may be able to see it.
