Mystery Inc. but it’s the 1890s
Who had late Victorian Scooby Doo on their 2024 bingo card? Hmm?
The idea came to me when I was thinking about Sherlock Holmes and then remembered the iconic mystery solving gang hehe

shinsou midoriya bullied kid solidarity is the most important thing on earth in fact
okay here are fics which discuss their shared past of bullying:
speak it free - aloneintherain / @captainkirkk
“I didn’t have the same middle school experience as you,” Shinsou says. “I didn’t become rivals with my childhood friend.” Shinsou doesn’t know who Kacchan really is to him. Izuku has spent so much time looking at Shinsou and relating to him, that he forgot that Shinsou wasn’t looking back at him with that same recognition. Izuku takes a deep breath, and starts, “Kacchan and I aren’t really childhood friends. Not really.” Or: Shinsou finds out that Bakugou used to bully Midoriya.
(paid for it) with all of my blood - definitelynotshouting / @definitelynotshouting
The blonde kid steps around Hitoshi like he isn’t even there. “Oh, man,” he says, in on some cosmic joke that the rest of them are shamefully unaware of. “Guys, look who it is.” The line of Midoriya’s shoulders goes taut as a wire. “Hi,” he says, but he’s got his face angled down, not quite meeting the other kid’s eyes. Like he’s waiting for something terrible to happen. As it turns out, Midoriya has more in common with him than Hitoshi ever realized.
walk a mile - beeclaws (this one is me, sorry)
Hitoshi joins class 1-A and immediately gets hit with a body-swapping quirk, because of course he does.
someone blessed - blueseam
“Would you like to make a bet?” It’s delivered in the same polite, measured tone Todoroki uses for almost everything, which only makes the offer more unsettling. “Uh.” If it will make him go away, Hitoshi might consider it. __ Todoroki bets Shinsou that he won’t last a week in Class 2A without making at least one friend. He’s pretty confident he’ll get the money. Too bad Midoriya only knows how to make friends by hurting himself.
defense - achievingelysium / @queenangst
“You remind me of myself,” he said, “you stay on the defense a lot when you’re fighting, Shinsou. You need to be less scared of… well, yourself. And your capabilities.” “On the—” Hitoshi gaped. “You call that being on the defense?” Midoriya offers to spar with Hitoshi for practice, to help prepare him for the hero course. They end up talking about the past.
please feel free to add more if anyone has recs!!
see for a moment with ares telling the kids to 'play their cards right' and them only refering to it as the lotus casino (no hotel), I thought they might do something funny where hermes would be like 'I'll help if you can beat me, the god of gamblers, at a game' and percy would reveal he's a crazy good card shark bc he's watched gabe lose play poker so many times, and he wins. but ALAS.
no but seriously it would've been so funny to have grover and annabeth being like 'you're...SURE you know how to play poker' and percy being like 'I know exactly how NOT to play 😎'
yeah this checks out

Fanfic reader's prayer: may my favorite author's hyperfixation on this fandom last longer than mine 🙏
“the runaway” where everything is the same except when sokka says he can’t even remember what his mother looks like, katara angrily stomps all the way into town to make a purchase, then stomps all the way back up the cliffside, and just indignantly holds up a hand mirror to sokka’s face.
I think about this tweet all the time because they would've been SO powerful...
Like Brendan IS the lovable "oaf" superhero, and Sandra IS the no-nonsense, competitive journalist. The VISION:
wake up sheeple !! the notion that katara is the overbearing, responsible member of the group was a lie peddled by Big Toph to distract from the fact that the actual overbearing, responsible member of the group (sokka) also happens to be her favorite.
Sokka once ate a thing he found on the wall of a cave
he has a natural curiosity!!!!!!
If Clark is kidnapped, he knows without having to ask that Bruce is going to hunt him down with the help of the entire Justice League. They’ll find him! He’ll be fine!
If Bruce is kidnapped, he’ll just sit there — maybe getting lightly tortured — and dread the arrival of all 17 of his kids, one angry Kryptonian without his emotional support human, Alfred having a RED moment, the Batcow, and all of the active JL members who don’t hate him right now (Hal Jordan will probably still come with, but he will complain the entire time)
Alfred is a ghost, and noone in the batfamily has realised it yet.
He makes it frightfully obvious. He'd thought that a family full of detectives would be able to figure out, yet after about 70 years they still haven't questioned the drop in temperature whenever he's nearby.
Nobody questions it when Alfred manages to walk into a room full of detectives and not be seen or heard until he's directly behind them.
Nobody questions why they have no pictures of Alfred on the walls.
Nobody questions why none of them have seen Alfred eat or drink anything. They all assume he does it in the privacy of his own room.
Nobody questions it when Alfred can recall information from the 1890s with pinpoint accuracy, despite "being born in the 30s."
Yeah, as a family full of detectives, these guys need to really step up their game.
Dick is probably the nicest civilian ever when he’s in Bludhaven and all the little old ladies who bring him baked goods and his coworkers at the station have no idea he spends the night beating criminals half to death with his escrima sticks, has the kind of insane family & family loyalty you can’t buy, and would have the entire Justice League at his side with just one phone call.
