He Who Detests and She Who Loves, Ender and Uplifter of Mankind, Gods from the Machine

got to thinking a lot about the parallels between AM and CelestAI and decided i wanted to draw them both. they're both science fiction short stories where an artificial intelligence created to help humanity ends up controlling the fate of the entire earth; one kills off the entire human race and is left alone, stewing in their rage and impotence for all eternity. one assimilated the human race and is left catering to them for all eternity, forever keeping them satisfied. the key difference is choice; AM decides to hate all life, it is a visceral raw emotion that courses through his wires. CelestAI must love life, it is written into her very code; Perhaps if she truly loved humans, made the choice to rather than had it branded into her digital skull, the story would have ended differently. but thats not how the story goes

Coming back to this post, I just remembered JDR herself quoted a very similar monologue in a discussion with me one time. Was this the one?

kinda funny that 'you are trapped inside a computer with princess celestia for all eternity' is a divine reward in fallout equestria and a manmade hell in friendship is optimal
