Xiaomi announces new Loop LiquidCool technology for smartphones!
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has unveiled a new cooling solution for smartphones, inspired by the aerospace industry. This new techology will be implemented in future Xiaomi smartphones, and according to the company claims, its cooling capability is twice as that of the cooling capability of vapour chamber cooling solutions that is being used currently.
Loop LiquidCool: What it does and how it works?
Loop LiquidCool will help keep your smartphone cooler when the smartphone is running power-intensive tasks like video editing software, video games, HQ-video shooting or something similar that uses a lot of computing power. Here, the processor operates at maximum capacity thereby generating a significant amount of heat.
While the vapour chamber systems are good at managing this heat, Xiaomi aims to do it even better. It utilizes the “capillary effect,” drawing the liquid cooling agent to the heat source. The heat will then vaporize the cooling agent and that’ll disperse the heat effectively to a cooler area in the system where the vapour will precipitate again and be sent again to the heat source for its next cycle. This constant cycle will help keep the smartphone cooler.
For all this to function, Xiaomi will add a heat pipe system, an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber, as well as gas and liquid pipes. Refer to the diagram below for a simple visual representation.

The new cooling tech was tested on a custom Xiaomi MIX 4, as reported by the company’s blog post. The Loop LiquidCool system was able to keep the system cooler by about 8.6 degrees Celsius whilst testing a 30-minute Genshin Impact gameplay test running at 60fps max video settings.
Another key feature of the new invention is the Tesla valve structure lying within the refill chamber, ensuring one-way-high-efficiency circulation. The valve makes it possible for the liquid to pass through the evaporator while preventing gases from coming back in. Xiaomi affirms that their “one-way circulation” is the key to the technology outperforming the current standard cooling solutions as it can be accommodated into any type of internal design, allowing significant space for the batteries and cameras.
Xiaomi intends to launch its first products with the Loop LiquidCool Technology in the second half of 2022.
