The Magic of the Chandelier Earring

Deciding what to wear for our engagement photos was tricky. I wanted our photos to evoke an effortless romance, and help us tell our story to our loved ones. I kept my outfit simple enough and tried not over do it on the makeup (though Pat would probably disagree) in order to keep the focus on us. I tend to gravitate towards floral accents, so finding chandelier earrings from J. Crew felt like uncovering hidden treasure! I’m so happy I opted for this statement accessory because they immediately added a touch of chic and completed my look. Keeping my hair pulled back and makeup simple (enough - I’m the bride, after all), allowed for my earrings to shine. C’est magnifique!

How To: Shop Smart Post-Christmas

I’m emotionally conflicted. While part of me is bummed the holidays are over, the other part is thrilled about January’s post-Christmas discounts! I think we can all agree selfless shopping can be exhausting. Luckily, shopping for oneself can be the quickest way to get rid of the post-holiday hangover. After years of experience, I’ve found that boxing week deals tend to trickle down to mid-February. Not to mention, I find the longer I hold out, the bigger the discounts! Nevertheless, always be cautious of what you spend your money on. That’s why this is the time to be strategic with your shopping! I’ve narrowed down the top 4 items to get this month on sale. 1. Party Dresses, especially those with embellishments and sequins, tend to go on sale shortly after the holiday season. 2. Midi skirts: now more than ever, this marks a great time of year to find that perfect midi skirt. I fall in love all over again when I wear my velvet mustard skirt from Topshop. 3. Mules: a spring staple, you can wear them with practically anything! I found a darling pair of blue velvet mules @ Winners for a steal! I wore them out to my birthday dinner last year. 4. Off-the-shoulder tops: show just the right amount of skin. It gives a jolt of femininity to whatever outfit you wear. Romantic details, like ruffles and lace, are always true winners! I wore this tried and tested style on my Eurotrip last fall.

How to look: Cozy Chic

Here’s my 1st post for 2017, and all I can think about is how to look cozy chic throughout my winter hibernation. For the most part, I like to spend my winter (most especially, Sundays) lounging around in shnuggle worthy (yes, it’s a word :P) knits and sweaters. What else are the holidays for? If simple silhouettes and ruffled sleeves are your thing, make sure to check out Club Monaco’s collection of cashmere sweaters. Calling all girly-girls: J Crew’s tie-neck cardigan will leave you looking like Jackie O on a budget. As for me, I always make sure to check out Topshop for funky prints OR (never both) pops of colour. Like their Tipped Frill Crop Top in yellow, which is sure to make a statement.

GOLD In case Jumanji sucked you into their board game and you missed out on all things fashion this season, let me fill you in with just one word: GOLD. The colour of my midi skirt is iridescent golden under light and the pleats are the perfect width. And I love how the velvet adds a feminine touch. I complimented it with a Burberry scarf and wool turtleneck from Topshop.

With the weather growing cooler, you’ll need to dress the part to match. Without a doubt, your coat should be the most exciting part of your outfit - so don’t skimp out this year! On the streets of Toronto, I’ve already seen coats of many different calibers - some fuzzy, some printed, and some that are fuzzy AND printed. Which brings me to my Cruella-inspired, wide-collar pick! Paired with a J.Crew turtleneck and Hudson Nico Skinnies , my vintage cheetah coat takes on the crisp fall weather in true #TGIF fashion.

The Choker Trend: We’ve Officially Gone Back in Time

As a 90s baby, I am all on board for the throwback to the best decade ever. Don’t get me wrong, I love post millennium sh*t. But I’m stoked the 90s are making a comeback, and it just wouldn't be complete without a little punk, metal, and velvet. And nothing encapsulates the 90s better than a choker. Chokers in velvet and rhinestone variety make for a fresh take on this 90s staple, just in time for the unavoidable, colder weather. I usually shy away from the obnoxious punk look, but simply pairing it with a classic dress or girly blouse, allows me to remain 100% faithful to my style. Which styles are your favourite?

How To.. Dress For Your Own Roman Holiday 🇮🇹🏟

If Audrey Hepburn taught me anything from Roman Holiday, it was to own your personal style and look at each day as a new adventure. Well, I consider wearing a hat a fashion adventure. For one, I’m pretty sure my head is massive. Second, I think I just accepted the fact that I wasn’t a “hat person.” In essence, I’m the type of girl who falls in love with a hat, only to bring it home and never see it again. But I did it! Pairing my D&Y Simply Basic Floppy Hat (only $12 @ Winners) with the cold shoulder - a trend I was already feeling this summer - definitely helped ease me in. Here’s my attempt at transitioning it into early fall with Topshop’s Geo Plisse Lace Dress.
