HELP! I think my Betta is dying. We just moved yesterday and he had a 3 hour car journey. In the past few months I have noticed decrease in eating and decrease in activity. He rubs or lays on objects a lot. I have been neglecting regular water changes. What are my options? I’m doing regular water changes now.

My experience at the pet store

So my local pet store is usually pretty good. The betta’s all have seperate tanks and plants. Their tanks are very overstocked but it’s understandable considering the fish probably are sold quite quickly but today I was disgusted. In the betta section there were some gorgeous fish, but all of them had bites on their fins and a few had finrot. There was one that was so overfed, it’s horrible.

And then the worse offense. There were two betta in the same tank. Now it’s not like there wasn’t any room, there were two empty tanks. But one was so beat up with very little fin left. I pulled someone over and asked for them to be moved. She apologised and said that this betta jumps a lot. That in itself isn’t good. And why aren’t you watching these fish? This fish was very hurt, it’s not like he’d just jumped in. The fish got moved two tanks over, but I’m still very disappointed. All of my betta from this store are usually healthy but their lot today were terrible. Also their gourami tank had 5-7 gourami in there, they were all fighting. There were also fish stuck to filters and a tank full of bala sharks, but i don’t agree with them being pets full stop. Pet Stock, I love you, but fix this.
