âIt wasnât even fun at first, honestly. It was just like⊠Morphine.â (Take this however. Obviously Asher to Marie because I love pain.)
âYouâre a liarâ
How could he say that? It was one thing for Asher to look her in the eyes and there only to be hatred and bloodlust, but it was another entirely for him to deny that there was never anything between them at all. He was still everything to Marie, even if there was a look in her eyes faked to be hatred whenever she had the gift of looking up at him. âYou canât say that you didnât love me.â There was venom in her voice more volatile than anything sheâd ever spit at him before, because before when she hissed and taunted and threatened him it wasnât genuine, despite it appearing so. No, now there was honest anger in her voice, true passion and hurt that she hadnât allowed herself to embrace in months on months of time. âYou canât say you donât love me.â There was nothing she wanted more than to throttle some common sense into him, to take him by the throat and shake him until he was back to her the way that they used to be. There was nothing she wanted more than to do that to herself, than to shake the both of them so violently they found themselves back in time when they were possible, despite their difficulties. âWe might be enemies, Asher Blackwell, but we were lovers. Do not ever say we werenât.âÂ
Because if that was true, what the hell was she fighting for now?Â
