If disabled people get married, they lose their benefits! I’m disabled but I can’t get a doctor to give me even a BASIC accommodation (handicap placard)! Let alone actually getting any kind of benefits! Like because I’m married, I CAN’T get the accommodations I need cause to the government, marriage = faking disability.

And they have strict regulations about living with other people too, in the US. If you even seem married and are living together, you could lose everything. People are told to divorce if one of them ends up disabled enough to need Medicaid or SSI. And getting any sort of in-home help when you don't live alone is nearly impossible.

A friend of mine in the USA had to divorce her husband of almost forty years when his MS worsened to the point where he needed in home help. He couldn't get the help he needed if he was married, basically. She was devastated because she had vowed for better or for worse and she felt like she was letting him down. This is what happens when corporations and governments value money over people.

This is also true in the UK. My dad can’t marry his partner because of the impact on benefits and housing assistance. They’re perma-engaged because it’s as close as they can get.

It’s the next marriage equality battle and we should be putting as much into it as the last one.

Did you not notice that there is no bottom shelf? Also it is above the sink so the water won’t drip all over your counter. And I would take water dripping on already wet dishes over them covering all on my counters any day.
