when sakra turns on the game, he would find a familiar screen on the face, but the frame would be the one similar to act 3 of ddlc. jared's just lucky he found convincing fanart. he doesn't say much, and lets that speak for itself.

She had been… trying. Really. Being home was hard. The atmosphere while on breaks seemed almost oppressive. But she had been trying to stay chipper, for Jared, at least.
Sunday rolled around, and at around 11 AM she finally pulled herself up into a sitting position, still wrapped in her comforter, brushed her hair quick to look semi-presentable, and dragged her laptop onto her bed. Everything seemed normal–she placed in her earbuds despite nothing playing on her laptop, waited for it to boot up, and then when everything reappeared, she clicked on the game’s icon that was pinned to the taskbar, having made that the first thing she did when she opened up her computer in the recent months.
The game didn’t start up normally. No, instead–
“What the f–!” Still bleary-eyed and disoriented, Sakra could only think to pull her covers over her head as she recognized precisely what Jared was emulating. But why the sudden shift?
Eyes found a slit in the blankets, and they traveled down to the date–Oh, goddammit.
“You’re a dick.” It’s said with a smile, though, as Sakra pulled off her blankets and smoothed out her hair. She almost mimicked the pose Jared held, with elbows on her crossed legs and chin resting on interlaced fingers.
“Hope you’re not gonna go full yandere with this, Jare. Otherwise I’m changing your sprites to shitty 90s anime faces.” She’d change them back, of course, but.

“It is, in fact, duct tape. Mom taught me that trick so people can’t hack into my webcam. Or, digital love interests from an indie dating sim I guess. That’s - that’s a new one.” She was talking to him. She was actually talking to him!
Still, Sakra was trying hard not to give him the reaction he wanted, whether it was one of fear or laughter or whatever--just stick to dry statements and see where this goes. “What do you mean, ‘sucks I didn’t have it on earlier?’ Did you... hear me playing? Sorry you had to be subjected to some shitty commentary.” And by that, Sakra meant, ‘did you hear the myriad of screams, frustrated noises, and insults I was lobbing at a couple certain characters, or about how I physically cried over one route and I giggled like a madman over other routes including yours just now?’ But that was entirely too embarrassing, so she kept quiet on that.
“Uhhh. Alright I guess.” Fingers still held the tape covering her computer’s camera, leaving her heard but not seen. “I don’t exactly know what ‘fucking with me’ entails but as long as you don’t, like, break my computer I suppose it’s fine?” Pause. “Actually no it’s not what the fuck is going on.”

messing with real people - people who weren’t dictated by binary codes and drawn sprites - was always a fun past-time of his. fucking with the player, acknowledging that he’s in a game… everyone always brushed it off as a quirky character trait, a fun easter egg that was theorized about in forums and youtube videos. never before had he spoke to someone outside the game - no, that would blow his cover. but, since he didn’t get much of a chance to - he never did when they were playing his route - jared figured he might as well do it now. just to terrify her a little.
computer screen turns black, nothing but the window showing the title of the game. it’s not long before a sprite of jared showcasing his signature apathetic expression popped up. ❛ yo. sakra, right? i don’t usually memorize the names of players, but eh. might as well fuck with you now since i didn’t get a chance to earlier. what’s up? ❜

"What.” An audible, flat statement. He was... talking to her. As a player. Oh. Well. It was gonna be that kind of game, wasn’t it. She had experienced this kind of thing before, with the game being programmed to fish for the name on the computer (of course she put “Sakra” as the name on her computer, like hell it was going to be her real name). Maybe there would be different dialogue for anyone who input their name differently from what their computer said.
... But no dialogue options appeared. Clicking did nothing. Typing did nothing. The program evidently hadn’t crashed, but she couldn’t progress. No, instead there was Jared Kleinman, staring down at her and looking as bored as he always did (until things got better in his route, anyway). Sakra’s eyes went up to the duct tape covering her webcam and mic, a trick she learned from her mother when she was just getting into computers-- “So people can’t hack into your webcam and watch you.” No... it couldn’t be voice activated. Surely To Find Love would have blown up from the absolute technological revolution of voice detection.
Sakra carefully peeled back the tape so that the mic was uncovered, but the camera still was. “Uh... fuck, I dunno what--you’re? Talking to me? So that’s what’s up I guess?” What was happening.
