Легенда гласит, что к Трифону обратился купец Федор Сухоятин. Он поделился со святым, что житель Чердыни – христианин стал насмехаться над елью, которую почитали местные язычники как священное дерево. Затем он внезапно умер и заболел.
Святой решил уничтожить языческое святилище, чтобы никто из христиан больше не страдал. Он принял в дар от купца железный топор, выдержал пост, помолился и, взяв икону, пошёл рубить дерево.
Закончив дело, он сжёг ель вместе со всеми подношениями, которые окружали её. Язычники хотели отомстить, но не смогли. И даже после смерти Трифона его могила осталась для них невидима.

According to the legend, a merchant named Fyodor Sukhoiatin approached Trifon. He shared with the saint that a Christian resident of Cherdyn had mocked a fir tree that the local pagans revered as a sacred tree. The man suddenly died and fell ill.
The saint decided to destroy the pagan sanctuary to prevent any more suffering among Christians. He accepted an iron axe from the merchant, fasted, prayed, and, carrying an icon, set out to cut down the tree.
After he finished, he burned the fir tree and all the offerings that surrounded it. The pagans wanted to take revenge, but they couldn't. Even after Trifon's death, his grave remained invisible to them.
