I'm sorry about the situation with your brother. I hope that someday you'll be able to talk things through calmly and rebuild the relationship you used to have.
Changing the subject, maybe you didn't see the post Mew made on X and Instagram?
Based on what he posted, I think there's a good chance he'll do a BL with the guy who's under his agency?
If I'm right, I don't understand why someone who, after all this time, still has ex-shippers who believe he's in a relationship with Gulf, others who hate him because he sent them to a psychiatric hospital, and others because he's in a relationship with Tul, would decide to create a possible new ship (if that's what ends up happening).
Do you know why I think it will happen?Because the hate and all the drama have been going on for yearsâit comes and goes in wavesâand he'd never said anything like he did now.
I think he did it because people started seeing him more often with the guy from his agency than with Tul. Combined with the wedding being postponed, that seemed to spark all the comments on social media again.
You can imagine them... "Doesn't Tul get jealous?" "Where's Tul?" "Why is he always showing up everywhere with that guy?" "New ship!" "They should do a BL together." "He's going to cheat on Tul with the new guy," and so on.
I thought he would continue focusing on his solo career for a while because I already think it's difficult for an independent artist to get work. And now that he has two artists under his new agency, it seems even more challenging. However, if they're marketed as a ship, I think he knows that, to some extent, it will work in his favor?
However if I were him and had experienced everything that happened because of fan service, I would never do fan service again.
It's true that he's never said he wouldn't do another BL (he's even played queer characters), but I can't even imagine what would happen if he started doing fan service again... it would just create another ship and all the drama that comes with it!!
But I guess fame and money matter more than peace of mind? đ¤ˇââď¸
First thank you for your words about the brother situation. In all honesty, I doubt, that we will ever talk again. Leaving someone to die and then telling them the next day "I just didn't care" is something so disgusting and unforgivable in my books. not only because of the deed itself, but mainly because in order to even be able to do it you just really don't care about them in any way. And if someone doesn't care at all, not even in a way you'd care about a stranger, then I don't want anything to do with them.
But back to the topic:
I don't know what the trigger was for Mew to release that statement. We know he has pressed charges before against people and we also know he had to experience some of the worst stalking and defamation in the industry. I still remember the story where some rich sasaeng fan brought the apartment next to his to stalk him more.
Or all the stuff that was posted about him and Gulf all the time until Mew plainly called it what it was: fanservice and then got attacked for that.
To me it sounded like someone close to them got doxxed.
But I don't really know much about artists he signed and what he is planning. I am not really a fan of his work whether it's acting or singing. I liked Tul more on screen and think he is the better actor between the two of them.
A couple of people have messaged me and asked if I was ok and where I was etc. and I thought I'd just post a quick update about what is going on...
There are a multitude of reasons why I stopped posting on here.
One is that the last BL I watched and really got into. was Shine ( I watched and loved Heated Rivalry as well, but it's not a BL in the original sense). I have tried watching different shows, but most of the time I stopped watching after an episode or two, because I didn't like it. The overly sappy and fan-servic-y stuff that Mandee produces has never been my cup of tea and the new stuff GMMtv has brought out isn't exciting either. Except for the new Gemini and Fourth show that looks promising, so I am planing on giving it a try. I plan to binge it so I wait until it's done airing and I have the time to just sit down and watch.
Another reason is that work has been kicking my butt. There are weeks when it feels like all I do is work and then crash into bed. I am trying to change it these days, but it's hard.
Mainly, because I use work as a distraction from what has happened in my private life. (Long private story ahead, feel free to skip it)
Me and my brother have always been incredibly close, best friends. We had coffee all the time, went on vacations together, cooked, just talked, went to sports events etc etc.
Anyway, last September he suddenly stopped answering texts, when I saw him all I got was "no time" and for a while I thought he was just busy. That was until my sister-in-law, the wife of my other brother, asked me what I thought of his new girlfriend. I didn't know he had a new girlfriend, he didn't tell me. I met her a couple of weeks later at a family festivity. She seemed nice, I liked her.
The problem remained that he had "no time" anymore, not even for a cup of coffee. Since we had planned a long vacation together in December and details still needed to be talked about, I was texting him about which hotel he wanted there, if he had booked the new fights etc and barely got a reply. Then again, my sister in law told me, that they see them all the time, that they are over at their place at least once a week and that's she 's never seen him as much as she did then. At this point I was getting pissed.
Beginning of November I got sick and had to stay away from others because I was contagious. One evening, my brother stopped by and I told him about being contagious and that he couldn't come in.
A day later he called me to ask if his girlfriend could come on our vacation. I told him no, for two reasons: a. I don't really know her and don't ant to spend weeks on end with a stranger in one house. But mainly, because I do not want to be the third wheel to a new couple on my main vacation during the year.
I found out through my other brother two weeks later that he was bringing her anyway and that he was also "so distraught" because I suddenly won't let him in the house anymore. At first I didn't even know what he was talking about, until the "I was sick" thing came to my mind.
I 'll skip forward to the vacation and leave out some other stuff that happened that all went along the same lines. We did the first couple of days on our own and suddenly he wanted to get dinner together, do trips together etc etc. That was until she arrived. The second her plane landed, contact was once more completely cup off. They took it a step further by walking past me in the house and outside not even saying hello or replying when I did.
Then one day a warning came in. 2m high waves were expected and landslides and people were told to evacuate the ground floors during the night and take all their valuables with them.
I had the ground floor bedroom, they were upstairs. now what happened was that they ignored me all day, then went to sleep and left me downstairs. They took their golf bags upstairs with them though.
When I confronted him the next day and asked him if he didn't understand that I could have died down there that night, he told me that he understood but that he "just didn't care".
It was at that point that I asked myself if he has been body swapped with someone, but also that I knew I had to cut off contact completely.
Sincere are back it has also turned out that his gf is probably the fakest person you can find. Whenever there are other people around she suddenly can say hello (which I ignore ever since the vacation), but when we are alone, she doesn't. She also jumps into every conversation I have with someone and takes over. And whenever I am with my nieces and nephews she calls them and tries to get them away from me, to a point where I was playing a board game with them and she came over and straight out asked "Oh, do you want to play that game with me?"
They are also touring family members telling them that I cut him off before the vacation and they don't know why and that he is so sad and only wants his sister back.
The bad thing is that my family are building their own narratives that have nothing to do with reality. Something along the lines of "Well, you didn't die in the flood that night, so it surely wasn't that bad. And if the water had really come, he would have saved you."
Ultimately, it means that I lost both a brother and my best friend and I don't even know why, because I have no idea what has been going on that in four months we go from best friend to 'he doesn't give a shit if I die'.
It's been really hard to stomach all of that and easier to just work and be away from all kinds of family obligations, which also meant less time to watch shows and less to write about. so, there you have the story.
What do you think about William's YouTube live and what he said about Izaya? I remember you writing that you cannot figure out how they could make this work. Pains me to admit it, but guess you were right.
I just watched it because of your ask. Or I should say I skipped through it to the parts I found interesting.
So what I gather (correct me if he addresses it at another point and I skipped over it) is that they were together for a year, then Izaya tried to relocate to Spain or stay there for longer than a vacation, and was denied visa.
They then had to sit down and talk and it sounds like they realised that unless William moved back to Japan, they are stuck in this limbo of being apart and missing each other and therefore ended it. They decided to cut off contact completely, which makes total sense, especially of there are still feelings.
William doesn't sound like he's over it and lives in the world where one day he'll go back to Japan and then they might get back together because they are star crossed lovers. That might be true, sure. Sounds like he hasn't really accepted yet that it's over.
Or not. I think I remember William announcing a while ago that he was going to move back to Japan, but now he's still in Barcelona, so seems like that didn't happen.
Now, personal opinion, because you asked for it: I get why they broke up. And I also get why he can't let go of it completely. I was once stuck in a situation like this for 10+ years. Basically my first real relationship was like this for over ten years. And it sucks,
However, there is also something that I didn't realise back then and that's the simple fact that if you REALLY wanted to change the situation, you could. I am not saying it's easy or fair to both sides and that sacrifices won't have to be made. But if these two really wanted to be together, ultimately, one of them could quit their job and move in with the other in Japan. They could get married and get Izaya the visa that way. There are more options, but I hope you get what I mean. However, it doesn't look like either if them was willing to sacrifice their job (temporarily) or the life they have built somewhere for being with each other. And that's fine and understandable, I am bot blaming anyone. I am just saying, that this is also a fact.
Now, William might be right of course and one day, he might go back to Japan and they run into each other and get their third chance. If they both want that, I hope they'll get it.
Or either of them might have moved on at that point. or they get together and find out they have changed so much as people that they don't work anymore. Who knows.
So for now, sadly for us â and them most of all â it wounds like they are not together anymore and William is brokenhearted about it and hoping for a third chance at some undefined point on the future, while it also doesn't seem like either of them is actively doing anything to make that come true. Or maybe they are, we don't know.
I wish them both the best and the romantic in me really hopes they'll get it together.
MewTul's wedding has been postponed for another two years, and from the moment I read this in Mew's interview, I knew those people with malicious comments would start showing up.
A fewew rumors had already been circulating days earlier because some fans had noticed that they were no longer posting about each other on social media as often as they used to.There was even speculation about a breakup.
I have to admit that, as a fan of theirs, I noticed it too.
They both seemed to be doing their own thing, and they weren't posting as much as beforeâespecially Mew. If it weren't for other people posting about them, fans probably wouldn't even know that they were still spending time together.
It must be stressful to be asked about your wedding date in every interview you do. It's like when your parents keep asking you when you're going to get married or when you're going to have children.
I think they probably shouldn't have given an estimated date from the beginning.
If I remember correctly, every year they would say it might happen the following year, or that they were looking for an auspicious date. Later, they said they wanted to focus on building their house first. And this leads some people to speculate
Now I understand why Korean celebrities rarely share details about their private lives on social media and don't follow anyone on their Instagram accounts.
Anyway, I hope everything is okay between them because I have to admit that, at first, I was worried too.
At the end of the day it's their life and they have to decide, but my personal opinion is that the whole marriage and engagement thing was a bit quick anyway.
Then again, they are building a house together, which in my books is a lot more binding than any marriage contract (with a prenup most likely). And Thai weddings, especially in their circles are huge. Even with a wedding planer it's not something you plan on the side. And both families are incredibly wealthy, which comes with ties about who to invite, where to sit them, who to fly in, where to have the wedding etc etc.
So reality might have caught up with their initial excitement and so they pushed the date back to focus on the house? I do't know anything about their schedules, but maybe it just didn't work out. It wasn't a big, dramatic "wedding cancelled" announcement so I wouldn't worry too much.
Hi. It seems you're not as active on your blog these days. Hope u ok
I just saw a photo of Mew with a guy. Does he have a new ship, or is that his new boyfriend?
Hey, sorry for being gone for so long. It's a multitude of things, first and foremost the fact that since Shine I haven't watched any new BLs. I've tried with the "love is like a bike" or whatever it was called, but I think what happened is that shows like Shine have ruined other shows for me because the acting, script and production is done so well, that I can't stand to watch many others.
But I might get into that in another post.
Back to your question: As far as I can see on social media, Mew and Tul are still very much together. I'd be surprised of they were still planing their expensive house if they were broken up.
Start around 38:00 (or a bit later) to see Jeff tricking Tay and New and the rest of the gmmtv crew in a very funny way. Tay's reaction after the two of them went after each other on running man every time is HILARIOUS
[Jacob on why ass eating happens in episode 2 unlike on the book]
Jacob: One of the things in MM romance written by women that I have neverâ I've always been like, that's not us, is like, fuckingâ you have to say I love you before you eat an ass. Not true. It happens very quickly. And there was no way I was treating it like some kind of fucking cake he was getting. I was like, they did it the first time they had sex. If Ilya is a good top, he eats his ass in episode two. Like, that's when Shane's legs go behind his ears. And that's what Ilya's doing.
Jacob: I was like, no, no, no, no. This is a part where I'm like, I feel like I have to go forward as a gay man and be like, enough. We do this on the reg. Everybody likes it. We're doing it here. We don't sayâ this isn't marriage. This is like, unfortunately, something you do to strangers. So just to be very clear.
Interviewer: Nice to meet you. Bend over, please.
Jacob: Nice to meet you is also very, very formal. What am I? A duke? [...] Yeah, I do have a whole thing about ass eating and stuff where I'm like, no, that happens. That'll happen with a blowjob.

I just read your post about how fans are treating/demonizing William and Izaya's relationship because it's messier but also has a strong sexual component. I basically agree on every point, and I think even 'progressive' audiences who watch the boyfriend still can fall into puritanical thinking when it comes to sex in particular.
I watch a commentary channel that talks about BL and Queer Dating shows, and I found something they said on this topic very relevant. They said that their theory about why a lot of people glorify relationships that put the 'romance' first and then ignore or Disney Princess the concept of sex is that more people are on the asexual spectrum than realize it. Not that more people are necessarily sex repulsed or anything, but that a lot of people are in the gray area of demisexual or something similar So when they see, either in media or even in real life, relationships where people lead with sex or want to hook up very early because they truly are just super sexually into someone, it feels forced or fake because that's not how they experience life. And since asexuality really isn't a huge talking point in general audiences, people don't know that there are in fact people where sex is that forefront. Ironically, it wasn't until these commentors were literally saying "When I go out into the world for dating, I am looking at people are thinking about if they are sexually attractive to me or not. Like that is a huge focus" that I realized I fundamentally just didn't process human interaction that way.
There is also the other obvious culprit in all of this, which is that The Boyfriend has a large audience overlap with BL audiences, who still have a huge straight female fanbase. (They obviously have a queer audience too, but numbers wise straight women are a huge demographic.) And so they treat these dating shows like a BL, when they realistically need to be treated through a way different lense.
That's a point I haven't thought about.
It might also tie in with some of the things we've seen in and after season 1. Dai caught some flack by Shun for having nudes on his phone, because Shun has/had the same prejudices what "a guy like that" is like. So we can use Shun in a way as the audience. At the same time he pushed and pulled and did all that we saw before.
When it comes to sex, Shun clearly stated though that sex in a relationship is very important and if one isn't compatible that way, I can't work. Which I take that he isn't asexual, even though he and Dai are leaning very heavily into the innocent and cutesy vibe and avoid all things that could even allude to sex. I mean, they manage to sit in a bathtub naked or lie in bed together and kiss goodnight and make the audience believe it's all very cute and asexual when with cameras off, these moments aren't always this cutesy.
Now, when watching season 2 though, Shun once again leaned into his own prejudices and stereotypes and funnily enough hated William for something he though he was doing - which William wasn't, but Shun interpreted it the way he himself was acting. So he projected in William's behaviour what he probably hates in himself and then disliked William.
By meeting him and most likely seeing him with Izaya and seeing them as a couple in real life when he hasn't seen that side of him yet on screen, he had a problem: He liked him in real life, but he wasn't fully able to let go of his reservations. It's a fun thing to watch because Shun is honest enough to admit it and it also he is struggling with his prejudiced image and the very real person in front of him live on camera.
Do you think William would have received the hate he received if he was fully Japanese? Iâve seen many people, even fellow Latinos, claiming that âLatin men are playersâ, and I canât help but think that the fandom would have been kinder if he wasnât partly Peruvian
That's hard to say. But, yeah, maybe ? I mean the things is that he is sleeping around when he is single, nothing wrong with that. But we know from their stories that so do Izaya, Dai, Jobu or Alan.
Jobu was even saying that he has cheated in relationships mainly because his own definition cheating is not what others think about it - something William strongly disagreed with.
However, people didn't turn on Jobu upon hearing that. Instead William was the one to be attacked. Which is funny, isn't it? Jobu's view (and I don't judge it!) is that it's not a big deal to sleep around when in a relationship unless one catches feelings. And b his laughing and joking around he admits to having done that. William is the one, the whole conversation who says "but if it's done to you it doesn't feel good and therefore you should have more respect for yourself and not do it to the person you love either". That was William's whole point. Yet, what many fans kept pointing to was his admission of "I cheated once" and they forget about the rest "and I regret it so much and am never going to do that again, even though it was only a kiss and not full on sex. Doesn't matter. I call it cheating and I hate that I've done that".
I can only speculate as to why that is, but I think it could be racism and stereotypes. What I know though is that's it's totally unfair.
What du you think about the Humi situation? Some say they are dating and trying to keep it private and others say they are nothing and just don't want hate by announcing it like Taeheon and Huawei get right now. I don't know so I thought id ask you
First â and I always feel weird pointing it out â I don't know anything about what they are or whether or not they are dating, together etc.
Looking at the overall situation though, I am not sure if they'd do themselves any favour by doing what they are doing right now unless it's the actual status of their relationship.
Why? well, if they weren't together, they could pull something like Tae and Huwei did, say we were busy and didn't get to se each other much, were at different paths, whatever, are still buddies, all is good. Fans would be ok, but hope that maybe they will become something. That lasts for a bit until it stops, especially if you stay away from providing more content.
Option two: They are together. Then by doing this now they'd rob themselves of simply "being" a couple. Because right now every time they post something people analyse it for clues, take videos of them, post them on social media and interpret them. If they simply admitted they are a couple and asked for respect and privacy, the pseudo sleuthing would mostly stop and they could also politely decline photos etc.
Right now, what is happening is actual increasing the delusions and invasions because it gives people the chance to interpret and read it as whatever they want. Those who want a romance see that, those who want a friendship go with this etc. And in order to find proof for their theories fans will cross boundaries and speculate to the extreme.
So my personal take is, that we should simply accept what they said and didn't say, be happy that they seem to be ok with whatever they are, stop speculating whether they are sleeping together or not and simply let them be. They seemed to get along well, they seemed happy and weren't uncomfortable â a vibe btw that I thought came across with Jobu and Tae a bit for whatever reason (but that's my speculation) and that's that.
As a tactic for privacy their current statements would suck though.
Lol did you watch the Boyfriend S2 reunion? They confirmed William and Izaya are still together, Jobu and Taehon went their seperate ways, meanwhile Bomi and Huwei were so vague that even Japanese viewers aren't sure what's up with them lmao. They mainly said they haven't been able to see each other much because they've both been so busy esp Huwei, but they did go see a movie together.
Yeah I watched it. Took me a second though to find a version with subs. It really pisses me off when they don't add them. Don't get me wrong, smaller networks etc who put out videos fast or market to a local audience only: no trouble.
but this is a international Netflix release. Being able to watch the content shouldn't be a challenge in internet sleuthing. They should put the reunions on Netflix as well, with subs. It's pre-recorded and not live-live so it can be done.
Anyway, I went back to my ep 15 post and looked at my final prediction. I wrote : "I think William and Izaya are solid. Tae and Jobu could definitely work, both as friends as well as more, depending on whether the outside world brings them closer or cools the romance. The biggest question mark for me is Bomi and Huwei."
So no surprise for me, I guess. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Huwei and Bomi are still doing the exact same dance now as they did in the house just with less time overall. Bomi has a huge crush on Huwei, so this might continue until one of them finds someone else. Personally, just my opinion, I don't see this going anywhere. A casual friendship maybe if Bomi gets over his crush. That's it.
And I am really happy for Wiliam and Izaya. I think it was very obvious that Izaya had never really been over William as an option, not in a "he was always the love of my life" kind of thing. And even before William allowed himself to trust it, he always seemed to be around Izaya and seeking him out. And now I think William has total heart eyes when he looks at Izaya. It's very obvious how much he cares for him and vice versa.
