violet hues dart around frantically , vision blurred slightly but even with the impairment he could tell he had no idea where he’d ended up . old , would be the word he’d used to describe it . carvings on the wall and pillars throughout --- beautifully crafted yet worn down by age . normally , he’d be in awe , however now his body crumbles . he backs himself into a corner , gently relaxing as the cold stone wraps around his shoulders in a mock embrace .
slowly , his form lowers , shaking . he could feel himself practically collapse , he’d been running for so long . he could feel his heart pounding against his chest , trying to break through its prison of bones . his paws reach to hold it , as if it trying to keep it inside --- yet all he wanted to do was tear it out . take it in his hands and throw it across the room , stamp on it and make it stop beating .
he could hear the others far off in the distance , blocking them from his mind . no more --- please no more he can’t do this anymore he just can’t please don’t let them find him don’t let them come near he can’t deal with this anymore he can’t do this he just CAN’T DEAL WITH THIS ---
tears stain his cheeks . they were growing closer . voices louder calling his name . he pushes himself up , wobbling as he begins to move further into this ancient landscape . the walls scribbled with woofoo history . it’s not long ‘till he’s running again , uneven strides lead him to a choice of paths --- without any evaluation he hangs right and keeps that way as he runs through this labyrinth . it feels like an eternity until common sense reaches him .
scrambling to a stop he rubs his eyes , a vast emptiness ahead of him . leaning to the edge , he looks over into the endlessness --- around him are words of an ancient language , one he most certainly can’t translate even if he bothered . yang didn’t bother thinking , eyes darting behind him then back to the abyss .
❝ i’m . . . ❞ tone wavers , voice fading as he tries to will himself to shout back at those who have no doubt followed him this far . ❝ I’M SORRY ! ❞ a hiccup , choking back his emotions as he’s always done . though , there was no point to it now . he was at the end of the line .
back faces the way he once came , and he takes a step forward .
