some fern embroidery for spring <3
iâm going to an ostara celebration today! this is the second time that iâve embroidered ferns, and iâm happy with how it turned out. i started with a darker green and integrated a lighter color as i got closer to the ends of the fronds to create a gradient :)

âQuickâtell me what yours smells like!â Sirius whispered, grabbing Remus by the arm before the taller boy could step into the classroom.
âWhat? You know what it smells like. It smells like you.â As the better of the two in Potions, Sirius knew Remus had already brewed Amortentiaâand theyâd even used it in a prank before. But Remus was the only one whoâd actually smelled it.
âYeah, of course,â the shorter boy bragged, âbut tell me anyway. Itâll be worth itâtrust me.â
Sirius had that mischievous shine in his eyes, so Remus just went with it.
âIt smells like way too much French cologne, old magic, andââ He cleared his throat, a small blush rising to his cheeks. ââletâs just say sweat.â
âMoony! You naughty thing!â Sirius gave his arm a quick squeeze. âI canât use that. Give me something else.â
âYou also smell like Padfoot.â
âThatâs perfect! Thanks!â
They entered the classroom together. Potions. And the topic was, in fact, Amortentia. Remus wondered how Sirius had known.
After some lecturing, the professor lifted the lid off the cauldron, revealing the pink liquid inside, and asked for a volunteer to describe what they sensed. At that, Sirius practically launched himself to the front.
âIâll do it, Professor,â he said, with all his Black charm.
He leaned over the cauldron and waved a hand, as if coaxing the scent toward him. He shot Remus a quick glance before he started.
âI smell old magic, the right amount of Chanel Pour Monsieur, and Iâm getting something⊠furry. An animal,â he continued, deliberately avoiding Remusâs eyesâthough he just knew the other boy was blushing again at the private little flirt. âA wolf maybeâno! A dog. Definitely a dog.â
The whole class burst into laughter.
âI canât believe it! You fancy yourself!â someone yelled.
âHonestly, itâs very on-brand,â Peter added.
James was still laughing when Sirius slid back into his chair.
âMerlin, Blackâyour egoâs going to need its own cauldron,â James wheezed.
âNaturally,â Sirius said, but his eyes were already back on Remus.
Later, when itâs just the two of them, heâd tell him what he really smelled.

the first law of tragedies: the end is already written and inevitable. the second law of tragedies: your actions are all your own and you can choose to get off this ride whenever you want. the third law of tragedies: we both know that you are never going to do that.
