How do you feel about Jürgen Voller x Emmerich Voss (Indiana jones and the great circle)
Hello! I may disappoint you, but since I wanted to play The Great Circle myself and I haven't got around to doing it yet, and since I'm also pretty strong-willed, I managed to stay away from any spoilers, however mild. :)
But I looked up Voss and some basic information about him so that I could answer you, and I have to say he looks like a mixture of Voller and Klaber to me right off the bat. I've understood he is an archeologist who searches for an ancient artifact in the hopes of giving the Reich ultimate power; as many IJ villains do. Apart from Voller. And in the light of that, Voss would perceive Voller as a traitor to the Nazi regime, while Voller would view Voss as a fanatical occult-obsessed fool believing in "magic", since his Antikythera works based on mathematics, not myths.
And I feel like this would be just the beginning of them not getting along, because, if their ambitions and values clash so deeply, what other thing could bridge this gap? Certainly not their personalities either, as Voller is more reserved and rational, and would in all likelihood get annoyed and overwhelmed by Voss' theatrical behaviour, not quite understanding why one would waste their energy on something so superficial. On top of that, both of them clearly strive to be the smartest man in the room, which would reinforce the hostility between them; although that could, theoretically, evoke at least a slight feeling of mutual respect between them as well, if they managed to recognise the other's intelligence.
Given that you asked about their ship, they would seem like enemies to lovers to me, which is not something I personally write, nor something I could imagine Voller undergoing with the way I headcanon him to approach his sexual life. :)
It is the reason why I shipped Vollber, because they seemed more like friends/colleagues to lovers. But since the Dial of Destiny has been released, I have grown, and Voller and my perception of him has evolved with me. And I've started to realise that Voller and Klaber's relationship worked only as a result of the time period in which they lived, ironically enough. I wholeheartedly believe Voller deserves someone similar to him; not necessarily another mathematician per se, but someone who takes in and processes information the same way he does, someone who can understand him on an intellectual level and make him feel less alone in the ever-changing world. Something that Klaber could never offer him, I fear.
Apologies from straying from the subject of your question a bit here at the end, I figured I could use your ask as an excuse to finally let the Vollber people here know why I ceased to write and post Vollber fics, despite literally building up the AO3 Vollber tag (which I'm still proud of, by the way), without making a big deal out of it. :)
