Yâknow I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation. Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.
Last time I reblogged the money cat, I won two $100 gift cards at work.

why does this have 32k notes? itâs just a picture of a knife in a ranch bottle, is there some unspoken joke that 32 thousand people share? what is going on here, i dont get it. itâs just a fucking picture of a knife in a ranch bottle. is there some spiritual connection people have to this picture? is there some ominous and mystical reasoning that this has 32 thousand notes? do people reblog this because it makes them look like some indie blogger? or is there just something funny to this? someone please explain

concept: willy wonka and harry potter take place in the same universe the ministry of magic haaaates Willy Wonka
âMr. Wonka,â Dumbledore smiled warmly, looking down into the Pit from his podium. The members of the Wizengamot muttered disapprovingly, shifting in their seats. Willy Wonka, clad today in a bright magenta suit and tophat, beamed cheekily up at them from his chair, his silver-gloved hands cradling his chin.Â
âMr. Dumbledore,â He replied brightly, with the barest hint of a lisp.Â
âI trust you know why you are here?â Dumbledores question was crisp and businesslike, but the twinkle in his eye gave away his amusement at the situation.Â
âNot at all! Iâve nary a clue,â Wonka wiggled his eyebrows. Dumbledore audibly stifled a laugh.Â
âYou are accused of improper use of magic, improper use of muggle artifacts, and several counts of using magic in front of a muggle,â Dumbledore reminded him. He conjured a projection with his wand. Displayed in grainy sepia was Willy Wonka, arm around a boy of around 10. Behind his back, he twitched an ash wand, and machines in the background around them whirred to life, producing all manner of sweets.Â
The projection ran its course and collapsed, and Dumbledore stowed his wand back inside his robes.
Wonka smiled and fiddled with his hat.Â
âHow do you plead?â Dumbledore asked, leaning forward eagerly for what would surely be an amusing trial.Â
âNot guilty on all counts,â Wonka said, perhaps a tad smugly.
The members of the Wizengamot muttered amongst themselves. Not Guilty? Impossible!
Dumbledore hushed them quickly. âExplain, if you would. We have, after all, quite a mountain of evidence.â
Wonka stood and brushed a bit of dust off his suit. He tipped his hat mischievously. âOf course,â he grinned.Â
âFirstly, use of magic shall only be considered improper whereby it is applied to cause harm or applied recklessly. All magic used in my sweets is rigorously tested for both safety and taste. It is not used to cause harm, but to bring joy.â Wonka paused to adjust his jacket.Â
âBut surely,â Dumbledore said, leafing through his notes, âyou cannot deny that you illegally charmed several thousand muggle artifacts?â
âAh, but I can,â Wonka said, now twirling his cap in his hands. âMuggle artifact refers, of course, to any muggle made object. But, you see, I built those machines, each and every one. They are not muggle machines at all, but wizarding machines, built by a wizard. The factory itself, as well. You could argue that, as machines are a muggle invention, I still broke the rules, but then I could argue that every wizard dwelling with any charms applied to its walls is in violation of the law, as muggles were the first to make bricks.â
The Wizengamot glared silently. He was right, of course. Violating the spirit of the law was not illegal if one followed the letter.Â
âAnd the last charge? These are definitely Muggle children, are they not? No magical talent, raised in muggle society?â Dumbledore straightened his glasses and peered down at Wonka, his eyes still bright with intrigue.Â
âNot at all,â Wonka grinned, placing his hat back on his head. âYou see, the ticket system was not nearly so random as I pretended. The tickets were charmed, they would only becomes visible to children with magical heritage. All the children chosen were second generation Squibs.â Wonka bowed low, as if he were finishing a particularly well executed play.Â
âWell, ladies and gentlemen, it seems no laws were violated after all.â Dumbledore stifled a grin at the groans of angry disapproval from the Wizengamot.Â
âBut he very clearly violated the intent of the rules!â Spluttered a large, rather red faced wizard in the second row. âHeâs justâŠcheating! Heâs cheating!â
âAh, this is true, but he did not, technically speaking, break any of the rules. He did not expose muggles to magic, nor enchant muggle made objects, nor improperly apply magic anymore so than any magical confectioner. Iâm afraid we have to let him go.â Dumbledore smiled gently and put away the rather thick file with Wonkaâs name embossed on the cover. For the brief second it was open, a list of hundreds of charges with âNot Guiltyâ inked beside them was visible. It was carried off by a house elf, and the Wizengamot began to file out until only Dumbledore was left.Â
âYouâre a very clever man,â He called down to Wonka. âWe could use you at Hogwarts, you know.â
âNo thank you,â Wonka called back, grinning. âSkirting the law is far more fun!â
Willy Wonka is a fucking Slytherin.
Basil: I sometimes feel underappreciated by my peers.

Tools for the Kitchen Witch
Here is a list of things that I would suggest that kitchen witches keep on hand. I know that we get a little caught up in the THINGS of witchcraft, but for the kitchen witch the things are much more simple and easy to come by. Also I feel like kitchen witchery is kind of about these things:
Wand: for a kitchen witch, the wand is one of the super fun items. Because⊠your spoon is your wand! Pick a favorite metal spoon or a wooden spoon, maybe decorate it, maybe not. Designate that as your wand, and make sure every magic concoction is given a good stir with it. Even use it in non food spell casting! Brandishing a spoon has a very unique and powerful feel to it ;3
Besom: the witchâs broom can take many forms. I like to have 2; a practical broom that I can use to clean and to cleanse, and a little broom for more symbolic cleaning. Iâll use it when I feel particularly yucky and I âsweepâ out the air around me. I made mine from willow branches, and wrapped them in a long string to make the handle, and dipped the tip in wax. Easy! The kitchen witch can use any old broom to be their besom.
Cauldron: youâre probably getting the idea. The cauldron doesnât have to be massive, cast iron, and hang over a fireplace. Choose a pot to be your cauldron. Specify it for magical concoctions. Making a super-charged soup for cold fighting? Pull out the cauldron! You can even use it every day, because magic is best when it happens all the time. I also keep a small ceramic bowl that I use as my mini cauldron, much like my mini broom, itât for more symbolic workings.
Athame: any kitchen knife can become your athame, but having a special knife set aside for specific plant harvesting is I think a good idea. I also have a neat (and useless) arrowhead knife that I use for symbolic things in spells and rituals,
Empty jars. Lots of empty jars. Spells and storage!
Sewing kit: I really like making little sachets of herbs for various spells, and as a kitchen witch Iâm always fixing and making things. Also who hasnât had a button fall off their favorite shirt?
Herbs: There are a great number of dried grocery store herbs that I think a good kitchen witch will want to keep on hand, both for cooking and for magic. The are thyme, garlic, onion, ginger, bay leaf, basil, oregano, rosemary, nutmeg, cinnamon. Sage is of course the witchâs all purpose cleanser, and lavender is a great herb to have. These may not be as easy to find, however lots of lavender soaps and oils are becoming available.
Cook book: get the most all inclusive, massive, wonderful cook book you can find. Write in it. Find things on the internet and print them out. Build a massive library of delicious things to do with food.
Spell book: This is also your Book of Shadows. Every witch should keep a journal, notebook, and or their own personal book in which they gather information on their craft. Record everything, even things you later donât believe. Be informed!
Notebook
House plants: House plants are air cleaners, mood boosters, and good friends. Jade and other succulents are extremely easy to care for. I feel that kitchen witches are well suited to keeping little friends, for good spirits and the like.
Candles: keep candles on hand, also for spells. Birthday candles are great for some quick magic.
Hearth: I know that in the modern world, having a fireplace isnât going to be possible for everyone. Kitchen witches are about the home, and as such I think that we need a âhearthâ. For the urban and or poor witch, this can be a stone, a candle, a jar, anything. Make it your center. Make it the essence of your home. This makes cleansing and assessing the energy of your home a little simpler. Itâs also a great way to help acknowledge the home as an entity with a heart.
Thatâs it! Most of these are easy to get, not only inexpensively, but also at pretty much any store. And even so, I want to say again that not all of this is necessary. You just need a kitchen to be a kitchen witch, really!
Happy cooking kitchen witches!
Be warm and be well,
~Rain

Candied Rose Petals © Photo by Eric Wolfinger
1 pasteurized egg white beaten with a little water (prepared meringue powder or a simple syrup will also do)
Granulated sugar
Rose petals, rinsed and patted dry
A small brush (a watercolor brush will work just fine)
Whip egg white until frothy. Using your small brush, paint the egg white onto each side of the petal. Roll the petals in the sugar to coat evenly, being careful not to coat the petal too thick. Leave on waxed paper to dry for a day. They may be stored for a few months in an airtight container, without losing flavor or fragrance.
