Tim and Ami Blog #5 Parenting

Sorry I haven't been active lately. It's been a few months. I just have been doing things that interested me more than “Tami” for the time being. A few nights ago, I've been thinking and brainstorming about how Tim and Ami would work as parents after they get married. I really think both of them are a successful couple in their own way, but I feel like there's some flaws for them trying to be a perfect mother and father figure with their own kids.

ALSO IN MY HEADCANON, BOTH ARE RETIRING FROM FIGHTING.

Early Steps

When it comes to both of these characters in their rightful franchise. Tim and Ami always have some sort of neglected childhood with their parents, which means they have to learn on their own in some cases. However, I feel like the couple wants to move away from the past childhood trauma which they have to deal with. Both characters want to at least spend time with their family more but this is going to be extremely difficult for Ami and Tim since they likely have jobs that are extremely important to them. For example, Tim Drake would be the type of person who would have a job as the CEO of Wayne Enterprise as he's an heir, while Ami Mizuno would be a high paying doctor as she wished to dream to be one like her mother. Two of these jobs are important to them, which would put a big gap with how much the couple can interact with their kids.

Issues and Resolution

Tim and Ami in my vision would be the type of couple that are a Yin-yang in their own parenting when it comes to spending time with their own kids. Tim would be the type of person who wants to try his best to be the best father he can be. However, he might have issues trying to be a perfect role model as he's always seen working around the desk filling out paperworks and having a lot of business meetings with other companies. Sometimes, he could care more about his job than the children. But, he resolves the issues by spoiling them by giving them a bank account to buy everything they want to have. Not only spoiling them, he sometimes can give them gifts that they have long awaited for in person. Ami however, would be similar to Tim, but the opposite. Despite working as a high paid doctor, she doesn't get a lot of time to see her own kids in person as they get calls from other doctors and have to deal with patients. Sometimes when she gets home, Ami just lets out a tired wave at everyone and takes a long nap. Although she loves her job, she hates not being with her kids most of the time. She doesn't want her absence of being a mother to become a habit as her own mother did the same with her. So, she tries to take some days off and work shorter hours to be with her children.

Conclusion

I think Ami and Tim are a sweet couple, but when it comes to being parents, life can frustrate them as work and time can be their biggest enemies. Tim wants to be busy with his job and spoils the kids, while Ami herself just wants to spend more time with them by not being too busy.

Tim Drake (Red Robin) X Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury) Blog #4 POTENTIAL SHIP CONNECTION WITH BRUCE'S DAD?

So, me and friends normally called Tim X Ami "Tami" for short. It sounds like a really cute name and I love it. Suddenly, I've been thinking of what would it be like if Tim and Ami ever get married or had a kid. Then suddenly, I just realize that both of them would have a kid that Bruce would definitely be shocked by.

So as I was brainstorming and thinking about it, I thought of something, literally BOTH of their lives would possibly resembles Thomas Wayne, Bruce's own father. Tim Drake in the comics has been shown to have close ties to Wayne Enterprise and some of the fans theorize him as a potential CEO of the company. Thomas Wayne, if you didn't know was the CEO of Wayne Enterprise himself. Ami however wants to be a high and successful doctor just like her mother. You can see this in some issues in the manga and one of the episodes where she wants to go to Germany to fulfill her life in nurse training. Surprisingly enough, Thomas Wayne himself was a doctor in many adaptations of the Batman story. Also, it's also true that both characters are rich even when they were born.

Now onto someone more bizarre and connective.

In case you didn't know, I normally call Tim X Ami "Tami" for short and it really likes the name. But after a few brainstorming, I really how genius this name was when involving Bruce's father in the mix.

If you pronounce "Tami" it sounds like you're saying Tommy. BUT here's the twist, Tommy is also a nickname for "THOMAS".

THIS is so connective and mind-blowing to me. You have two characters that has occupations that Bruce's dad has but separate, and yet has correlation with the name!

Honestly, this would work so well for an AU if Ami and Tim had a son named Tommy, to honor Bruce's father and watch him grow up exactly like him! This brings so much potential and sparks in the ship more in my opinion.

So yeah, Tim Drake and Ami Mizuno would have the same occupation as Thomas Wayne and it goes deeper on its own.

Tim X Ami Blog #2 (Parents)

You know, I find it really interesting how Tim's and Ami's parents are somewhat similar to each other for their neglect and early life. From my knowledge, both of the parents seems to show some sort of neglect towards them because of their jobs.

What's even crazier that later in the stories, their parents seems to realize the neglect they put on their kid for being away.

However, they ARE a few key differences with their own family line.

In the Manga and Crystal Anime, it's shown that Ami's parents had a divorce at a young age (although it's never stated why). However, Ami's father still give her art painting/postcards during her birthday.

Tim is not so lucky... In a comic run, his parents were poisoned by a villain called "Obeah Man". Unfortunately, Tim's mother died from the poison while his was in a coma and paralyzed for a while. Later in the comic run "Identity Crisis", Tim's father was killed by Captain Boomerang, which put him in more depression than he already was at the time when this happened.

Yeah some big key differences make their family life different, I do find it interesting how both dealt with neglect in their early life and mostly depend on a single parent later.

I had this brush inked drawing from a year or two ago just sitting on my computer unfinished, so I decided to use it for practice (getting comfortable with Clip Studio is a new year's resolution of mine for 2026).

Background was inspired heavily by that swimming episode in season 3, which pushed me to play with much different colors than I otherwise might've done. Thank you 90s anime for the inspiration!
