i don't think it should be allowed to be below freezing. like you say, "I'm freezing." that's enough. no more. i don't want to see any of these negative weather degrees.
This scene is soo sweet and important
1x1 The Swap
oh the irony of a show about the lack of appreciation for and lack of investment in the arts being cancelled i hate it here
Streaming services are so stupid. They’re like “hey! Here’s season 1 of a new show! And we’re greenlighting it for a second season! But we’re not going to promote it at all. What show? Oh that show! Yeah we’re actually going to cancel it. It didn’t manage to find an audience in less than month with no promotion, can you imagine that? Anyways! Go watch something else we’ll probably cancel!”
Being sick on the first day of your extended weekend means, coming up with more of these:
I'm just going to say it: Etoile is a masterpiece. It doesn't deserve an ounce of the hate it's receiving. "It's not grounded." I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you're allergic to fun and whimsy???
People just love to hate Amy Sherman Palladino shows for no reason.
they fucking went and cancelled étoile. it hasn’t even been a month since s1 came out and they’re cancelling it, after greenlighting two seasons. the cast is quite literally still doing promotional work, and they’re cancelling it. i am so sick of these big corporations giving shows no time whatsoever to generate a viewership and no chance to build on the foundations that get built in a first season. étoile is so incredibly genuine and heartfelt, giving stage to a dying art, jobs to artists in that field, it has a magnificent ensemble cast of characters that we barely got to meet.
i fucking hate this.
The tribes of Tumblr appeared to worship Apollo as their primary patron deity, most often under the epithet Apollo Sphairahemon ("Apollo the Ball-Thrower") as a god of prophecy and sport. His name was typically invoked to celebrate a user blessed with uncommon prescience. Moments of prophecy were considered highly sacred and were often recorded, and such texts are sometimes accompanied by an artistic depiction of the god — either his traditional masculine image or, unusually, in the form of a young woman, which appears to have been an earlier style before a conservative shift toward more conventional iconography — preparing to cast a round rubber ball that our scholars believe was used in the sport known as "dodge ball". Much as other cults regarded his arrows as bringers of disease and health, this community believed that being struck by this ball would bestow prophetic visions.
Some icons are reproduced below:
An earlier depiction (c. 2020) of Apollo as a girl clad in a simple tunic and playing with other children. Figures are smiling and the image is brightly colored, indicating a celebratory outlook toward knowledge of the future.
A later piece (c. 2022) that resembles the traditional appearance of Apollo. References to childhood and play are omitted, and the god carries a more frightening aspect; perhaps this icon represented grim omens rather than good tidings.

The Intrepid Heroes return for a new season of Dimension 20, arriving on Dropout starting June 4th!

child handling for the childless nurse
My current job has me working with children, which is kind of a weird shock after years in environments where a “young” patient is 40 years old. Here’s my impressions so far:
Birth - 1 year: Essentially a small cute animal. Handle accordingly; gently and affectionately, but relying heavily on the caregivers and with no real expectation of cooperation.
Age 1 - 2: Hates you. Hates you so much. You can smile, you can coo, you can attempt to soothe; they hate you anyway, because you’re a stranger and you’re scary and you’re touching them. There’s no winning this so just get it over with as quickly and non-traumatically as possible.
Age 3 - 5: Nervous around medical things, but possible to soothe. Easily upset, but also easily distracted from the thing that upset them. Smartphone cartoons and “who wants a sticker?!!?!?” are key management techniques.
Age 6 - 10: Really cool, actually. I did not realize kids were this cool. Around this age they tend to be fairly outgoing, and super curious and eager to learn. Absolutely do not babytalk; instead, flatter them with how grown-up they are, teach them some Fun Gross Medical Facts, and introduce potentially frightening experiences with “hey, you want to see something really cool?”
Age 11 - 14: Extremely variable. Can be very childish or very mature, or rapidly switch from one mode to the other. At this point you can almost treat them as an adult, just… a really sensitive and unpredictable adult. Do not, under any circumstances, offer stickers. (But they might grab one out of the bin anyway.)
Age 15 - 18: Basically an adult with severely limited life experience. Treat as an adult who needs a little extra education with their care. Keep parents out of the room as much as possible, unless the kid wants them there. At this point you can go ahead and offer stickers again, because they’ll probably think it’s funny. And they’ll want one. Deep down, everyone wants a sticker.
This is also a pretty excellent guide to writing kids of various ages
They’ve gotta fall in love by the end of the series right?
