Did they really get Elphaba & Glinda to say i love you but not Fiyero & Elphaba? Make it make sense
They actually did have to do that, because their actions towards each other did nothing to prove they loved each other.
Fiyero died for her, was willing to kill for her, committed High Treason for her, came back from the dead and immediately started walking his way back to her, to protect her. He gave her his castle, his guards, he was her guardian angel for years (the only reason she's alive is because he was actively sabotaging the Gale Force, and he was only able to do so because he was the Captain. And that's straight up canon, he absolutely saw her in that tree).
When he died, Elphaba crashed out, went insane, promised to be wicked for real, nearly killed a little girl for her sister's shoes, kidnapped her, terrorised all of Oz and all of that because of how much she was grieving him; she even made Glinda believe she was committing suicide after receiving supposed confirmation of his death (because that's what it seemed like). Then, when he came back looking nothing like he used to, all she could do was cry tears of joy for him being alive and being hers, reassuring him he was still beautiful for her and running away with him AGAIN!
Everything these two did for each other SCREAMED "I love you" more than any words ever could. Damn it, just the way he was looking at her before she flew away after the cat fight said "I love you" more than words ever could. Now, what did the girls do for each other that expressed their love? Honestly, nothing. If they didn't say it, we couldn't know.
And also, skill issue, because the lyrics for ALAYM in many languages make them explicitly say "I love you", including Brazilian Portuguese, so be jealous of us LOL!
