The minute anyone says that Jason had a part in his death because he went after the Joker, I have to automatically assume that you either haven't read A Death in the Family or have absorbed the information from a post.

Here are a couple of true statements that you would know if you read ADITF:

Jason didn't know the Joker was in the warehouse.

Jason didn't go into the warehouse to save his mother from the Joker, she told him to come with her so they can talk about what the Joker wants with her.

Jason was told that the Joker wasn't in the warehouse, that he had left a while ago.

Jason was given faulty information and his only sin was believing his mother.

And here are the panels:

Jason sees the Joker going into Sheila's tent and gets worried for her safety.

He says, "this is a job for BATMAN and Robin" not JUST Robin. He wanted Bruce's help.

Bruce tells Jason not to handle the Joker alone and to wait for him.

You could say that this is the page where he disobeyed Bruce, but all he does is want to talk to Sheila about the predicament she's in. Again, he doesn't look for or go after the Joker.

Sheila moves them into the warehouse so they can talk privately.

HE IS EXPLICITLY TOLD BY HIS MOTHER THAT THE JOKER HAD LEFT A LONG TIME AGO. And that turns out to be a lie.

So all of this happens without Bruce's knowledge and what does he think in minutes of coming back?

"I warned you not to take the Joker on by yourself." He didn't.

"I begged you to wait Jason, but of course you didn't."

"You never listen. Why. WHY?" He has multiple times.

Bruce has no idea what happened, but automatically assumes that it was Jason's fault. Even when Sheila tells him with her dying breath what happened, he still calls Jason reckless.

She tells him how much of a hero he was in his last moments, and instead of telling people that, Bruce basically tells anyone that he meets that Jason was disobedient. He has essentially erased what happened in the warehouse - the part that he knew - and replaced it with a completely different narrative that makes Jason his scapegoat.

I just dont like when Jason is characterized to hate and despise his Robin days and to consider that as different person when DC is always running very active attempts to dimish and alter and pretend his original 80s Robin run of comics never actually existed

In a world where DC basically tries to treat Jason as a character invented in 2005. And repeatedly make adaptations that bring him in as a villain yet completely skip having ever shown off his Robin years. I dont like when anyone tries to make the gap between jaybin and red hood even bigger by making Jason push away Jaybin too.

maybe I need to get back into projecting on Jason again,,,,,,, because okay. Walk with me. Personal context first

I’m a violinist, and have been playing for 14+ years. I went to an arts school/conservatory at one point, and it generally fucked with me badly enough that I didn’t have lessons for years after & never really practiced unless it was for orchestra/chamber (the only things I still found enjoyable to play). I’m starting to get to a better spot now but it’s been rough, and I think a lot of what I was feeling can connect to Jason very well

The biggest thing I’ve struggled with since art school is that I know I can play better than how I play now, but I haven’t put in the work to keep my skills up as much because it fucking hurt mentally. So I still have those skills, but they’re harder/I can’t do them as well anymore.

connect this to Jason; I hate it when he can’t do any of the moves he did back in his Robin days. So what if he can still do those moves, but they’re harder now? What if he wasn’t working on them because the memories hurt too much, and now he has to grapple with self worth issues/feeling like he’s not good enough? There’s still instinct and muscle memory there, but if he tied his feelings of worth to being a vigilante then slipping on things he used to be good at within the context of crime fighting would definitely have a negative effect and would be fascinating to explore more

It might just fully be my hatred for dc acting like Jason doesn't have a Robin run speaking. But I honestly kinda hate when Jason is characterized to hate his Robin days and never wanting to think about or associate with them and to leave them all behind.

I think it's fun for him to love n miss those days and ache knowing he'll never get them back because it was so abruptly taken away + Bruce will never chose him. Like- I'm not saying he wants to be Robin again (though sometimes I do like exploring the potential of one last adventure in order to put it to proper rest) JUST! I don't like it being swept away and all gone and oh Jason hates it all n doesn't like any of it ever. Maybe I'd feel different if DC themselves weren't trying to sweep away his Robin days but ah. They are. So here we are

Reasons why I have beef with the UtRH movie:

- No batarang to the throat/implied second ressurection + to escape from batarang to the throat they made Jason into a compelte idiot;

- Jason frees the Joker for his revenge scheme, which goes against the Joker *already being free* as in the comic (which actually reinforces Jason's points)

- No unexplained resurrection/Talia ressurecting him using the Lazarus Pit

- Did I mention no batarang to the throat?

Idk idr #+ the whole falling into the “he was a violent/reckless Robin” trope and making him older at the time of death #(which the costume change really drives home)#That movie was like.
