Life With Kurami By Deon Parson
Today I am happy to bring you a heart-warming, slice of life comic strip series about a single mother named Ana and her infant daughter named Kurami called, Life With Kurami.
Life With Kurami was created by Deon Parson and is featured in The Herald Bulletin, a local newspaper that operates in Anderson, Indiana. Despite the fact that Life With Kumari is mainly newspaper based comic strip, series creator Deon Parson still posts a lot of the series online and by doing so, has helped bring the series to an even larger fan base. Which you can see for yourself if you check out the series Facebook page
Life With Kumari manages to be both funny and at times, a little sad. Even so, it never loses its charm. It also manages to capture the life of someone who is a single parent.
Regarding as to what Deon hopes to accomplish with his series it simple really. To make people smile! In one of his Facebook posts, Deon bought up his goal with the series and what he wanted to accomplish with The Herald Bulletinās editor, Scott Underwood during a meeting they had.
"A few months ago, during one of our lunch meetings, Editor Underwood said this to me:
āIāve been reading your strip for over a year now, and I got to know: what is your goal with āLife With Kurami?āā
I had to sit and think for a second. I told him āTo make people smile.ā
āReally? Most cartoonists say āTo make people laugh.āā
āI know, but Iām not that funny of a person, and I know that I never will be. Though, I do know Iām able to give people good vibes and to put a little bit of positivity into their lives, which the comics page is kinda meant to be for, I believe.
I know that LWK can have a much broader friendbase if I focus more on just the happiness and love within the strip rather than just comedy all the time. Friends will come because they want to see Ana, Kurami and Zane, and anyone they meet rather than come for the punchlines.
Plus, itās a lot easier for me to make someone smile than it is to make them laugh. So whether they smiled because they thought a strip was heartwarming, or actually found a strip funny, or just overall adorable, then that means weāre doing our job. And being able to do something that makes a personās day a little bit brighter, even by just a little bit, is a dream job to me.ā
āDeon, I have to say, youāre doing exactly that.ā
